You unlock the Abandoned Auger Mines by completing Main Mission 11, Shadow of the Mountain. After that, seven optional mines are spread across four broader map regions: The Fadefields, Carcadia Burn, Terminus Range, and Dominion. Several entrances are not at the activity icon itself, and some are hidden behind a shimmering false wall.
When the mines unlock
PowerPyx identifies Shadow of the Mountain as Main Mission 11 in its guide dated September 11, 2025. Game8’s guide to The Claim, updated September 18, 2025, gives the same unlock condition. Until that mission is complete, the mines are not accessible, so finish it before searching the map.
All seven mine locations
Gamer Guides provides the map region for each mine. PowerPyx groups the mines into the same four broader regions, with one naming difference for the last mine.

Gamer Guides lists The Toil of Spoiling Vis under Dominion, while PowerPyx names Dominion City. Both point to the same part of the game. Use the map region column to choose where to search, since the broader names are less precise.

Finding the entrance once you are in the area
An activity icon marks the mine’s general area, but the way in may be a cave opening or a wall you have to walk through. Two patterns come up in the guides.
Concealed shimmering walls
Neoseeker advises entering the marked mine area and looking for a shimmering false wall that leads to the mine proper. Check cave openings and rock faces near the icon, not only the icon itself. A shimmer on a wall is the cue to walk into it.

The Toil of Spoiling Vis
PowerPyx says this mine’s entrance is an open doorway in a wall about 200 meters southeast of the activity icon. The same guide describes the doorway as slightly southwest of the safehouse, so cross-check against that landmark. Treat the icon as the search centre, not the spot to stand on.

What the guides do not establish
- No official Gearbox or 2K map or mission reference was located. The mine list and entrance clues come from third-party guides.
- The guides do not give turn-by-turn directions for all seven mines, so route-by-route navigation is not confirmed here.
- The PowerPyx and Neoseeker guides are dated 2025, and the Gamer Guides page does not show a publication date. Later game updates could change map labels or entrance placement, so if a location does not match, trust what you see in the game and check the current guide version.
