Refined Iron Sand is an Epic general weapon crafting material. The earliest reported source is Black Loong in Chapter 2, and a hidden room in the First Prince of the Flowing Sands cave is another Chapter 2 route. From Chapter 3 onward, the material is available from shrine shops, chests (especially in the Pagoda Realm), bosses, and tougher enemies. If you have not found it by then, the sources below list the specific places to check.
What Refined Iron Sand is used for
Refined Iron Sand is a crafting material for general weapons in Black Myth: Wukong. Despite the name, it is a virtual in-game item and has no real-world iron product behind it. You need it when crafting Epic-tier general weapons, so the practical question is less “what is it” and more “where do I get enough of it at the point I need it.”
Earliest sources: Chapter 2
Two Chapter 2 routes are described in the game guides we consulted. Neither is documented by the developer, so treat them as community-reported locations rather than confirmed drop tables.
Black Loong
Defeating Black Loong is the earliest source reported in the guide material. Guides do not state a drop rate for the boss, so expect that the material may not drop on every fight.

Hidden room in the First Prince of the Flowing Sands cave
A separate hidden-room route is described in item database entries. It requires the Wandering Wight spirit and works like this:
- Go to the cave where you fight the First Prince of the Flowing Sands.
- Use the Wandering Wight spirit on a decorated wall to open a crack.
- Squeeze through the crack into the hidden room and search it for the material.
The sources do not say whether the room is a one-time reward or repeatable, so check the room again after you return to it if it appears empty.

Bosses and tough enemies
Defeating bosses and tougher enemies is listed as a source. Guides do not establish which bosses or enemy types are most reliable.

Lantern Wardens for farming
The Gamer Guides material names Lantern Wardens as a useful drop target for farming. They may disappear after they first appear, so be ready to fight them when they show up rather than waiting for them to return. This is a route reported by one guide, not something verified through testing.

What these sources do and do not establish
The sources are secondary game guides, not developer documentation, and the material available does not carry a publication date. Shop stock, item behavior, and boss or enemy drops may have changed since the guides were written. The guides also disagree on how early the material can be obtained, so the Chapter 2 routes above are the most specific reports rather than a confirmed rule. No drop rates, item counts, or per-route yields are established, so you should expect to try several sources before you have enough.
None of the routes above is guaranteed. Shop stock may differ between saves, and the Lantern Wardens farming route rests on a single guide’s report. Use the table to pick which source to try first, then check the location in your own game.
