Battlefield V is the best fit if you want mission-based co-op against AI. Its Combined Arms mode supports solo play or a squad of up to four players. Battlefield 2042 also lets friends play together against AI soldiers, but EA’s description does not establish it as a co-op story campaign. EA describes Battlefield 6’s campaign as single-player.
Which Battlefield game should you choose for co-op?

Choose Battlefield V for documented cooperative PvE missions and a stated group size. Choose Battlefield 2042 if you want to play its AI-supported multiplayer mode with friends. Do not choose Battlefield 6 expecting another person to join its campaign: commanding squadmates is part of its single-player design.
How Battlefield V’s Combined Arms co-op works
Combined Arms is Battlefield V’s clearest example of mission-based co-op. EA’s 2019 announcement described eight PvE missions across four maps, playable alone or with up to three friends. Objectives included assassinating or eliminating targets, destroying targets, and stealing documents; missions conclude with an extraction phase. Those figures describe EA’s announcement, not a verified current mission total.
EA later announced two additional missions and matchmaking for Combined Arms. Since these are dated announcements, check the mode in-game and confirm availability for your platform before relying on a particular mission count.

What Battlefield 2042’s Co-Op mode offers
EA describes Battlefield 2042’s Co-Op option as playing with friends against AI soldiers. The game also offers Solo play against AI for practice. This establishes AI-supported multiplayer, but it does not establish a cooperative story campaign or a specific Co-Op group size. Don’t assume the mode’s player limit from squad limits described elsewhere.
Why Battlefield 6 is not a co-op campaign choice
EA describes Battlefield 6’s campaign as single-player. You can command squad members within that experience, but they are not another human player joining you. Squad commands therefore do not make the campaign co-op.

- Decide what you mean by co-op: Battlefield V offers documented PvE missions; Battlefield 2042 offers play with friends against AI soldiers. Neither description here establishes a co-op story campaign.
- Confirm current access: The cited announcements do not settle online-service availability across platforms and regions. Check the mode and matchmaking on your platform before buying or organizing a group.
- Verify the platform and edition: EA’s catalog lists Battlefield V, but a catalog listing does not confirm current stock or a particular physical edition. Check the live listing for the version you want.
