What matters for Black Ops III offline play?
Black Ops III is a confirmed offline choice for Campaign and, after updating, local Multiplayer; that does not mean every feature or mode is available disconnected. Activision describes Campaign as playable solo or with one offline buddy, and separately says Zombies can be enjoyed alone, but that statement alone does not confirm offline Zombies availability. The Multiplayer FAQ says local play without an internet connection is possible once the game is fully up to date. It describes up to four-player local split-screen Multiplayer on Xbox One and PS4; Xbox 360 and PS3 do not support split-screen, according to Activision Support. Plan to install the update before relying on disconnected local play.

Does offline progress carry over to online play?
Not necessarily. Infinite Warfare‘s official FAQ says online progression does not carry over to Local mode, and Local progression does not carry over to online mode. Treat the two progression paths as separate when planning a local session, as described in Activision Support’s FAQ.

How to check before playing without internet
- Match the exact title and platform. A mode’s offline support on console does not establish the same support on PC; Infinite Warfare is the clearest example.
- Check the specific mode. Campaign, local Multiplayer, Zombies, and online Multiplayer can have different requirements within the same game.
- Look for update or connection conditions. Black Ops III local Multiplayer requires the game to be fully updated, while Black Ops 7 requires a continuous connection across all modes.
- Do not assume a disc guarantees offline access. Owning a physical copy by itself does not establish that a title can be installed, activated, updated, or played fully offline. The sources cited here do not establish those requirements for every game and platform.
- Verify titles not covered above. The official Black Ops Cold War page, for example, lists modes but does not establish their offline status. Check the exact game’s official support page or platform listing rather than inferring from another Call of Duty release.
