In Date Everything!, keep the origami bird and the shiny red button from Henry Hoove’s bag, and throw away the lint and hair and the unidentified “Something.” That is the consistent guidance in the character wiki entry and a Neoseeker walkthrough. Clearing the bag matters because it feeds into Hoove’s route and collectables. Refusing to help with it is linked to the Hate ending.
The items in Hoove’s bag and how to handle each one
Henry Hoove is Dateable #78, a vacuum-cleaner character found in the laundry-room closet. The collectables entry for his bag lists four objects you will see when you sort through it. The table below gives the suggested choice for each one and the reason the guides give for it.
| Item in the bag | Suggested choice | Reason given in the guides | Stated effect on his route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Origami bird | Keep | Treated as a sentimental keepsake; the Neoseeker walkthrough example keeps it | Not stated |
| Shiny red button | Keep | Treated as a sentimental keepsake alongside the bird | Not stated |
| Lint and hair | Throw away | Unpleasant debris; the walkthrough discards the gross pile | Not stated |
| “Something” | Throw away | Grouped with the gross debris in the guidance; the guides do not describe what it is | Not stated |
The “Stated effect” column is blank in every row because the guides do not attach a separate route consequence to individual items. The consequence is set by whether you help clear the bag at all, covered below.
How to sort the bag
- Start the bag conversation with Hoove and ask him how he feels about the contents. The guidance frames this as the way to begin the sorting.
- Go through the objects one at a time instead of disposing of the whole bag in one choice. The walkthrough recommends this approach.
- Keep anything that reads as a keepsake, such as the origami bird and the button. Throw away anything that reads as gross debris, such as the lint and hair or “Something.”
This keep-sentimental, discard-gross split is the practical reading the walkthrough example supports. It is not documented as a rule that applies to every object in every case.

How the bag affects Hoove’s route
- Helping clear the bag supports the Friends or Love paths.
- Not helping with the bag leads to the Hate ending.
- Clearing the bag contributes to his collectables.
- Other choices matter too. The character wiki notes that his interests and your earlier romantic interactions with him also affect the outcome, so the bag is one factor rather than the whole ending.
Collectables tied to his activities
Hoove’s collectables list contains six entries. Two of them are tied to specific activities on his route:
- A Motor Oil item, earned by going drinking with him.
- A Hankees Game item, earned by catching a ballgame together.
The collectables entry confirms that clearing the bag is one of the actions that counts toward this list. It does not list all six collectables, so this article does not describe the others.

How far the guidance goes
The keep-or-discard advice rests on a walkthrough example and on the character wiki’s description of the bag’s role. The sources do not establish a scoring system that assigns a fixed value to each object, so the sentimental-versus-gross split is a sensible way to decide, not a guaranteed outcome for each item. Choose the way that fits how you want Hoove’s story to go.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Where this information comes from
This guide draws on three published sources: the Henry Hoove page on the game’s fan wiki, which covers his route and ending conditions; the wiki’s collectables page, which lists the bag objects and the collectable actions; and a Neoseeker walkthrough, which gives the specific example of keeping the bird and discarding the gross pile. No developer statement on the bag choices turned up in those sources, and the guidance here has not been checked against every branch of the route in a full playthrough.
