Which Xbox Series X Games Support 120 FPS? Confirmed Titles and Setup

Microsoft’s 120 FPS collection lists Fortnite, Halo Infinite, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and DOOM Eternal (BATTLEMODE), but the listing does not specify every game’s mode or resolution.

Microsoft’s Xbox Store 120 FPS collection lists Fortnite, Halo Infinite, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and DOOM Eternal (BATTLEMODE) among its examples. The collection is a useful official starting point, not a guaranteed complete list, and it does not give the mode or resolution details for every result. An “Optimized for Series X|S” badge alone does not confirm 120 FPS.

Xbox Series X games listed for 120 FPS

Microsoft’s Xbox Store 120 FPS collection currently provides an official way to find titles with 120 FPS capability. Examples in its results include:

  • Fortnite
  • Halo Infinite
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War — the Store result identifies the Xbox Series X|S edition.
  • DOOM Eternal (BATTLEMODE) — the result names BATTLEMODE, so it should not be taken as confirmation that every mode supports 120 FPS.

The Store filter does not establish a complete catalog, nor does it specify the supported mode, resolution, or Series X versus Series S behavior for each result. Check the current listing and the game’s own settings or publisher information before relying on a particular mode or output.

Why the “Optimized for Series X|S” badge is not enough

Xbox describes optimized games as capable of frame rates “up to 120FPS,” while noting that the specific enhancements vary by game. That badge covers a broader set of improvements; it does not promise a 120 FPS option. Use the dedicated Store collection or game-specific publisher guidance to confirm support.

  • 1ms Response Time: Colors fade and illuminate instantly with a 1ms response time, eliminating ghosting and piecing together precise imagery during action-packed scenes and gaming.
  • 1500R Curvature: The 1500R degree curved design immerses you into all of the action no matter where you choose to sit in the room.
  • AMD FreeSync Premium: By accelerating the frame rate to at least 120Hz at 1080P FHD resolution and delivering low latency to prevent visible delay in data processing, AMD FreeSync Premium allows gameplay to reach the highest echelons of performance.
  • Built-In Speakers: Perfectly suited to work & gaming settings, built-in speakers deliver robust & smooth audio while saving space on your desk.

For a confirmed historical example beyond the Store results above, Xbox Wire reported at the Xbox Series X launch that DiRT 5 offered 120 FPS options on Series X. Codemasters Technical Director David Springate said the game could offer “amazingly smooth, responsive gameplay at 120fps” while still looking gorgeous. This is launch-era reporting, not confirmation that DiRT 5 appears in the current Store filter.

What to check before expecting 120 FPS

A 120 FPS-capable game is only one part of the setup. To use 120 Hz output, the display and the full audio/video (AV) path must support the desired signal, and some games require changing a console or in-game setting. Support may also be limited to a particular mode or involve a resolution or visual-quality trade-off. The available listing does not state those details for every game.

When checking a title, verify these specifics rather than assuming that its Xbox Series X|S optimization applies to every mode:

  • Is 120 FPS explicitly listed or confirmed by the publisher?
  • Which game mode supports it?
  • Does the feature apply to Series X, Series S, or both?
  • What resolution or visual-quality trade-off applies?
  • Does the setting need to be enabled on the console, in the game, or both?
