Leon S. Kennedy’s face in the Resident Evil 4 remake is commonly attributed to Romanian model Eduard Badaluta. That identification should be treated as a reported attribution, not a confirmed RE4 credit: the available reporting directly links Badaluta to the Resident Evil 2 remake, but does not establish whether Capcom reused, altered, or newly captured his likeness for RE4.
Who is Leon’s face model in the RE4 remake?
The name most often associated with Leon’s facial likeness in the Resident Evil 4 remake is Eduard Badaluta. A secondary overview makes that RE4 attribution, while REVIL’s direct reporting says Capcom chose Badaluta to bring Leon to life in the Resident Evil 2 remake and reported his excitement about the project on Instagram. REVIL’s report on Badaluta and the RE2 remake is the clearest direct reporting located about his Leon likeness work.

Those two claims are not interchangeable: the RE2 connection is directly reported, whereas the RE4-specific identification is commonly reported but not confirmed by a Capcom credit or statement in the available material.
Face model, voice actor, and motion capture are different roles
Badaluta is identified with Leon’s facial likeness. Nick Apostolides is separately identified as Leon’s voice and motion-capture performer in the remakes. Calling Badaluta Leon’s voice actor or mocap performer, or crediting Apostolides with the facial reference, conflates distinct parts of the character’s performance and design. The secondary overview identifying the RE4 face attribution and performance roles distinguishes these credits.

#1 Best Overall
- Reawaken a Classic – Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
- Modernized Gameplay – The team from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series’ modern approach to survival horror. Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas and collect useful items for Leon and Ashley’s constant struggle to survive.
- Overwhelming Hordes – Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
- Survive on a Knife’s Edge – Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before they break.

What is known about the scan—and what is not
REVIL reports that Capcom used photogrammetry with the RE Engine to scan real people and objects, and that Badaluta took part in a 3D photo session for the Resident Evil 2 remake in 2017. That is useful context for how a real person’s appearance can inform a game character, but it is not evidence that a separate scan was made for RE4 or that the exact RE2 scan was reused unchanged.
Capcom’s account of the Leon figure included in the Resident Evil 4 Collector’s Edition describes a different step in the asset pipeline: the in-game Leon model was reproduced with 3D printing for clothing and small-object detail, while staff sculpted and adjusted delicate features such as the face and hair. This explains how the figure was made from the game model; it does not identify the person whose likeness informed Leon’s face. Capcom’s Collector’s Edition figure production account.
