Jacq is the best teacher to prioritize if you want the Shiny Charm, but reaching his 400-Pokémon Pokédex milestone takes substantial progress. For a useful reward tied to a teacher event rather than a major collection milestone, choose Raifort: her event gives TM140, Nasty Plot. The best choice depends on the reward you want and which prerequisites you have already met.
Which teacher should you choose?
Teacher events in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are character storylines you progress through classes and conversations at the academy. They do not all pay out the same kind of reward, so “best” depends on whether you want a completion milestone, a battle item, a Pokémon, or a collectible.
- For Pokédex completion: Jacq’s Biology reward track includes the Shiny Charm when you register 400 Pokémon.
- For a battle-focused reward: Raifort’s History event gives TM140, Nasty Plot.
- For a Pokémon: Salvatore’s Languages event gives a level 5 Galarian Meowth.
- For Tera Shards or supplies: Tyme, Hassel, Dendra, and Miriam offer useful item bundles.
- For a distinctive collectible: Saguaro’s Home Economics event awards a Slowpoke Cup.

How teacher events unlock
Classes become available as you advance through the story and earn Gym Badges. For a subject, the midterm follows lesson three and the final follows lesson six. Completing classes and tests opens conversations with teachers, but a completed class does not automatically meet every character’s special condition for a final reward.

Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet Expansion Pass: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero (Retail Version) Standard - Nintendo Switch [Digital Code]
- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
- Advance the story and earn Gym Badges to unlock more academy lessons.
- Attend the available lessons for a teacher’s subject, then complete the midterm after lesson three and the final after lesson six.
- Check the school map or monitor for event markers, then visit the marked character to continue their conversation.
- Meet any extra condition that character requests. Examples include registering enough Pokémon for Jacq’s milestone, showing Raifort the four Treasures of Ruin, bringing Saguaro Sweet Herba Mystica, or completing Starfall Street for Clavell.
How to decide what is worth doing first
- Choose by reward type: pick a Pokémon, TM, shard bundle, healing or training items, or collectible according to what you will use or value.
- Check your progress: ordinary lessons and conversations are a different commitment from a 400-entry Pokédex milestone or a story-specific request.
- Use event markers: if you have completed the relevant lessons, check the academy map or monitor for a teacher conversation you can continue.
- Prioritize your own goal: Jacq is the clear route toward the Shiny Charm; Raifort is the more direct pick if Nasty Plot is the reward you want.
