That update does not confirm that every current lag report is fixed. The next step is to identify whether you’re seeing network delay or visual stutter, then narrow down the mode, region, and whether other online games are affected.
What the official update says about multiplayer lag
The official Where Winds Meet update reported that some players in Europe, the Middle East, and certain other regions were routed to non-local servers, resulting in high latency. The team said it had fixed that routing issue and that high network latency in Online mode had been resolved.
This is a report of a remediation at the time of that update, not a guarantee about every player’s current connection. The notice does not identify your region, current game build, symptoms, or connection route, and it provides no measured ping, number of affected players, or success rate for the fix. Check the game’s latest official notices for any newer regional or build-specific information.
First identify what “lag” looks like
Different symptoms can point toward different problems. These are diagnostic clues, not a confirmed PS5 test for this game:

- Actions arrive late, characters snap back, or movement rubber-bands: this is consistent with network delay. The server path or connection may be involved.
- The picture hitches, freezes, or stutters: this may be a visual performance issue rather than online latency. The sources available do not establish the cause of those symptoms on PS5.
Note the symptom, when it happens, which online mode you are playing, and your region. Also record whether the problem is constant or intermittent; that information makes it easier to compare your experience with any official notice or support response.
Use these comparisons to narrow down the cause

- Check official game notices. Look for updates about Online mode, routing, your region, or the build you are running. The previous notice described a fix; it is not a live status report.
- Compare modes. If possible, note whether the same symptom occurs in solo play and online play. The official update separately said the Solo-mode issue was expected to be fixed in a mid-December update; it did not establish the status of every later build.
- Compare with another online game. If other games also show delay, investigate the broader connection rather than assuming this game’s routing is responsible. If the symptom is limited to one Where Winds Meet mode, share that detail when checking official support channels.
- Describe the issue precisely. Include your region, mode, approximate time, game build if known, whether other games are affected, and whether you see delayed actions or visual hitching. These details help distinguish reports without presuming a cause.
Does cross-play or a network change fix it?
The PlayStation game page lists Where Winds Meet as free-to-play on PS5, says online play is required, and describes multiplayer as optional overall. The Xbox listing describes cross-play across Xbox, PS5, PC, and mobile. Cross-play availability does not show that your connection is being routed correctly or that latency has been fixed.

The available official evidence does not validate changing DNS, using a VPN or network booster, reinstalling the game, or buying a router as a fix for this specific PS5 multiplayer problem. It also does not identify a hardware purchase that corrects the documented routing issue. Avoid spending money or changing network settings on the assumption that any one of these will resolve it.
