The announcement and the expected start of retail sales are two different milestones, and the company’s material does not establish one universal first-sale date for every retailer or country.
The two launch milestones
The date most readers are looking for is the announcement. Logitech made the G29 public on June 11, 2015. Its release said the wheel was expected at US retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, and Newegg, beginning in July 2015. Those were planned retail start dates, so a reader who bought one in late June, or who saw a listing in another region, is not contradicting the company’s statement. Use July 2015 as the US retail start, and treat June 11, 2015 as the official unveiling.
| Milestone | Date | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Official announcement | June 11, 2015 | Logitech publicly introduced the G29 Driving Force. |
| Expected US retail availability | July 2015 | Logitech’s stated start for US retailers, named as Amazon, Best Buy, and Newegg. |
| Actual first sale at a given store or country | Not stated | The launch material does not give per-retailer or per-country sale dates. |
What the wheel was at launch
At launch, Logitech described the G29 as a force-feedback racing wheel licensed for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The announcement highlighted dual-motor force feedback, anti-backlash helical gearing, a hand-stitched leather-wrapped rim, and steel pedal components. The licensing was the headline: Logitech’s gaming business head, Ujesh Desai, who was then vice president and general manager, said the company had been working with Sony for 18 months to deliver a fully licensed racing wheel, and that PS4 owners had been asking for one since the console launched.
Launch price
The announcement listed a suggested US retail price of $399.99. This is Logitech’s own 2015 figure, not an independently verified transaction price, and it is a historical launch value rather than what the wheel sells for now. Retailer discounts, bundles, and regional prices in any period would have differed from it.

Current compatibility is different from launch compatibility
The G29 has changed in one important respect since 2015: Logitech’s current product page lists support for PS5, PS4, PS3, and PC. Keep that separate from the launch facts. A 2015 PS4 and PS3 wheel and a current wheel that also lists PS5 and PC are the same product line, but the platform list reflects the company’s present claims, not the original release.
Optional accessory: the Driving Force Shifter
Logitech lists the Driving Force Shifter as a separate optional accessory for the G29 and G920. It is not part of the base wheel, and it is not needed to answer any question about the launch date. Readers who want a manual shifter should check its present availability before buying, since accessory stock and pricing can change independently of the wheel.

What is and is not established
- Established: Logitech announced the G29 on June 11, 2015.
- Established: the company expected US retail availability to begin in July 2015.
- Established: the launch suggested US retail price was $399.99.
- Not established: the first sale date at any individual retailer, or the date the wheel reached every country.
- Not established: stock levels on any specific day in 2015.
For a release-history question, the answer is the June 2015 announcement with July 2015 as the planned US retail start. Anything more precise would require retailer or regional records that the company’s launch announcement does not provide.
The G29 announcement is the source for every launch-era claim above. Current compatibility and accessory details come from Logitech’s present product information, which can change.
