When did the Roblox forums close?
The public forums stopped accepting new posts on December 4, 2017, when Roblox switched them to read-only. They were scheduled to shut down entirely one week later, on December 11, 2017. Roblox’s official announcement set out both dates.
Why did Roblox remove the public forums?
Roblox gave the reason in its December 4 announcement: “We believe the Roblox public forums are no longer capable of providing a positive environment and have been proven to be prone to excessive abuse.” That was the company’s stated assessment; the announcement did not provide abuse statistics or quantify moderation workload.
Where did Roblox direct forum users?
For general information sharing, collaboration, and conversation, Roblox pointed users to Groups. For development discussions, it pointed them to the Developer Forum. Roblox said announcements would continue in read-only sections of the Developer Forum and on the Roblox blog.

Are Roblox Community Forums the same as the old public forums?
No. Roblox later described a shift from Groups toward Communities and said Forums would become a dedicated discussion space intended eventually to replace Groups’ Walls. Current Roblox Support documentation describes Community Forums with categories, permissions, and moderation features; access is limited to logged-in members aged 13 and older.
