Gematsu’s October 8, 2026 report, based on the developer’s announcement from Perfect Random, names seven platforms for the launch: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The official Steam store page lists the same October 28 date for the end of Early Access.
When SULFUR leaves Early Access
The date appears in two places that agree with each other. Gematsu’s report, published October 8, 2026, attributes the October 28, 2026 date to Perfect Random’s announcement. The SULFUR listing on Steam, which Perfect Random publishes and develops, shows the same date for the departure from Early Access.
The Steam listing also gives October 28, 2024 as the PC Early Access release date. That makes the 1.0 launch the end of roughly two years in Early Access on PC. Reporting available at the time of writing does not say whether the console versions follow the same two-year history, so treat the 2024 date as a PC-specific fact.
Platforms announced for the 1.0 launch
The announcement names the following platforms for version 1.0:

The sources do not state platform-specific performance targets, price, cross-save support, or differences between editions on each system. Do not assume those details until the publisher confirms them.
Physical editions are not confirmed
The available reporting and the Steam listing describe a digital release. Neither establishes a boxed console edition, a physical soundtrack, merchandise, or any SULFUR-specific physical accessory. If you are looking for a disc or cartridge, there is no confirmed physical product to plan around.
What version 1.0 is expected to include
Gematsu’s report lists the following as features of the 1.0 release, according to Perfect Random’s announcement:
- Over 60 firearms to discover, customize, and enchant
- A complete enchantments system with 54 enchantments, including 45 combined enchantments
- Hundreds of loot items, plus cooking, equipment, and builds
- A complete story
- Balancing, polish, performance improvements, and quality-of-life updates
These are developer-stated counts and feature descriptions. The figures come from the announcement as Gematsu reported it; they have not been independently counted or tested, so the final game may differ in detail.
How 1.0 differs from the Early Access build
Reporting does not provide a line-by-line changelog, so the table below reflects only what the announcement and Steam listing describe.

The “Not described” and “Not quantified” entries mean the announcement and store page do not give those numbers, not that the content is absent.

What the game is
The Steam store page describes SULFUR as a first-person action-adventure with role-playing elements. It emphasizes planning, firearms and other equipment, weapon modifications, enchantments, loot, exploration, and risk, specifically the choice of which equipment to bring into a run. Those descriptions come from the store page; this article has not played the game.
About the Early Access statement
The Steam page includes a developer statement on Early Access, attributed to Perfect Random rather than an individual:

The statement explains the reasoning for the Early Access period: the game’s modular systems let the developer add content in steps. It does not name a speaker, and the announcement itself does not include a separate named quote.
Gematsu’s report is dated October 8, 2026. Launch timing and the final feature list remain subject to the developer’s announcement; check the Steam page for the latest changes.
