Grand Theft Auto VI does not have a published Metacritic score yet. As of October 9, 2026, Metacritic lists both critic reviews and user reviews as unavailable, with each score marked “tbd.” That means claims that a GTA 6 score has gamers split are premature: there is no published score for players to react to.
What Metacritic currently shows for GTA 6
Metacritic’s Grand Theft Auto VI listing, checked October 9, 2026, has no critic reviews and no user reviews. Both score fields are marked “tbd.” There is therefore no GTA VI Metascore or Metacritic user score to report at this time.
A search result showing someone asking whether the game could reach 99 or 100 is an example of pre-release speculation, not evidence of a divided audience or an actual score reaction. One discussion cannot establish how gamers generally feel.
Why there is no score split to compare
Metacritic’s critic Metascore and user score are separate review streams. The former aggregates critics’ reviews; the latter reflects user ratings. Neither stream has published ratings for GTA VI on the listing checked, so predictions should not be presented as critic consensus or player feedback.
#1 Best Overall
- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
When scores do appear, a useful comparison will identify the platform-specific listing, the number of critic reviews and user ratings, and when the figures were checked. Scores can change as more reviews and ratings are added.
When GTA 6 is scheduled to release
Metacritic lists November 19, 2026 as the initial release date. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement also said the game was planned for that date on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Until launch and reviews arrive, discussion of a Metacritic result remains prediction rather than reaction to a published score.

What earlier GTA Metacritic scores can—and cannot—tell you
Metacritic’s related-game listings give useful series context, but those past results do not forecast GTA VI’s score.
| Game | Metacritic score |
|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto IV | 98 |
| Grand Theft Auto V | 97 |
| Grand Theft Auto III | 97 |
These are historical scores shown on the respective Metacritic pages, not a guarantee that GTA VI will receive a similar rating.
