Yes. Bandai Namco Entertainment America announced on October 8, 2026 that Once Upon A KATAMARI has launched for Nintendo Switch 2, and that the game and the Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC are available now. The Switch 2 version adds mouse controls, a smoother framerate, and enhanced graphics compared with the Nintendo Switch version. The DLC adds 10 quests and music inspired by the mobile game Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE.
The sections below cover where the game is available, what changes on Switch 2, how the save transfer works and where it stops, and what the DLC contains.
Where the game is available
The publisher’s October 8, 2026 announcement lists Once Upon A KATAMARI and Rolling LIVE Highlights as available on the following platforms:
| Platform | Status in the October 8, 2026 announcement | Differences the publisher describes |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Launched October 8, 2026 | Mouse controls, smoother framerate, and enhanced graphics compared with the Nintendo Switch version |
| Nintendo Switch | Listed as available | Baseline version for the comparison above; no separate feature list given |
| PlayStation 5 | Listed as available | Not stated in the announcement |
| Xbox Series X|S | Listed as available | Not stated in the announcement |
| PC via Steam | Listed as available | Not stated in the announcement |
The announcement does not give numbers for the Switch 2 framerate or graphics gains, and it does not publish a platform-by-platform feature matrix. Treat “smoother” and “enhanced” as the publisher’s own descriptions rather than measured results. Regional storefront listings can differ, so check the eShop or your local storefront before buying. What the Switch 2 version changes
The publisher names three changes on Switch 2 relative to the Nintendo Switch version:
- Mouse controls. The announcement presents mouse control as a Switch 2-specific addition. It does not describe how the mouse scheme maps to the rolling controls, so check the in-game control settings after launch to see how it works for you.
- Smoother framerate. Described as a performance improvement. No target framerate or measured figure is given.
- Enhanced graphics. Described in general terms. The announcement does not list specific visual upgrades.
If you already own the Nintendo Switch version and are deciding whether the Switch 2 version is worth the cost of a repurchase, the publisher’s material does not address upgrade pricing or any bundled upgrade path. The save transfer described below is the only cross-version continuity mentioned.

- To win the game, play all of your story cards and steer the story to the ending card held in your hand! And they all lived happily ever after…we hope
Transferring save data from Nintendo Switch
The publisher says existing Nintendo Switch players can transfer save data to Nintendo Switch 2, with one condition: the transfer is possible only if no save data already exists on the Switch 2 system. Read that as a hard precondition, not a general promise. Before you attempt a transfer, confirm the following:
- You are an existing Nintendo Switch player with save data for Once Upon A KATAMARI.
- The Nintendo Switch 2 system has no existing save data for the game.
- If a Switch 2 save already exists, the publisher’s wording indicates the transfer is not available for that system in its current state. The announcement does not describe a workaround or a way to clear an existing save as part of the transfer.
The announcement does not describe the on-screen steps for the transfer or its exact menu path. If the transfer does not appear to be available, check first whether the Switch 2 already holds save data for this title.

Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC
Rolling LIVE Highlights is downloadable content and is available now alongside the game. According to the publisher, it adds:
- 10 quests, each with its own soundtrack, inspired by the mobile game Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE.
- A premise built around rolling alongside Earth’s streamers, meeting new cousins, and helping the King keep up with trends.
The publisher’s July 15, 2026 announcement said the DLC would be sold separately across platforms. The October 8 announcement does not restate pricing, so check the price on your platform’s store. The DLC’s themed content matters most if you already find the mobile game’s streaming theme appealing; the publisher’s material does not frame it as necessary to enjoy the base game.

The base game in brief
The Prince travels through time, including the Jurassic Period, the Ice Age, and historic Japan, rolling up objects to restore the stars. The publisher also lists character customization, power-ups including a magnet, Katamari Ball competitive multiplayer, and a new soundtrack. The announcement does not describe how many players the multiplayer supports or whether it is local, online, or both, so check the store page for those details.

Which version to choose
The decision mostly comes down to three questions:
- Do you play on Switch 2 with a mouse or want better performance? The Switch 2 version is the only one the publisher describes with mouse controls and a smoother framerate. Those are the reasons to pick it over the Nintendo Switch version.
- Do you already have a Nintendo Switch save? Check the save-transfer conditions above before assuming you can carry progress across.
- Do you want the streaming-themed content? Buy Rolling LIVE Highlights if its 10 quests and music appeal to you. It is a separate purchase from the base game.
