Recipes are fixed pairings, not combinations you can freely mix. The examples below cover well-established base-game recipes and two unions; they are not a verified list of every current or DLC combo.
How weapon evolutions work
- Choose a weapon with a known recipe. Each weapon has a predetermined pairing; a different passive item will not produce the same result. See the Evolution list for recipe examples.
- Level the base weapon to its maximum. For the ordinary evolution process, the weapon must be fully leveled. The linked passive item must be in your inventory; the standard rule does not require that passive to be maxed.
- Collect a qualifying treasure chest. Once the ordinary prerequisites are met, a chest can trigger the evolution. Special weapons and recipes can have different rules, so do not assume every chest or every recipe behaves identically. See the Weapons reference and the Evolution reference.
The result takes the place of its base weapon in your weapon inventory. Plan for the required passive as well as the weapon slot: taking the wrong item or leaving the weapon under-leveled can prevent the standard recipe from being ready when a chest appears.

Standard evolution recipes
In each row, the base weapon must be fully leveled, the listed passive must be obtained, and a qualifying chest is required under the ordinary evolution rule. The linked references do not establish a separate passive-level threshold for these examples.

Unions: when weapons combine with weapons
A union combines two or more weapons into one result, sometimes with a passive-item requirement. Because multiple weapon inputs become one output, a successful union can free a weapon slot. That differs from an ordinary evolution, which replaces its base weapon. The Weapons reference describes these union examples:

The cited reference establishes these outcomes, but not a complete set of per-weapon level thresholds or chest rules for every union. Check the relevant weapon entry and the in-game collection before building a run around a special recipe.

Special recipes and coverage limits
Not every weapon follows the one-weapon-plus-one-passive pattern. Some have special mechanisms, unlock requirements, character restrictions, or DLC conditions. Confirm those requirements for the specific weapon rather than applying the ordinary steps automatically. The Weapons and Evolution references provide starting points, but the available material does not verify a complete, current DLC-inclusive recipe chart. For an unfamiliar combo, check its in-game entry and confirm that the source covers your game version and content.
A player discussion also describes recipes as pre-designed pairings, but treat community discussion as context rather than the authority for an individual recipe: Vampire Survivors player discussion.
