The fresh realms were announced for November 21, 2024; Mists of Pandaria Classic was announced for summer 2025. Those were announcement plans, not a statement of their status today.
What were the WoW Classic 20th Anniversary fresh realms?
Blizzard announced that WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Edition would launch on November 21, 2024, with new realms intended to recreate a beginning-to-level-60 journey. The announcement offered three realm types: PvP, Normal PvE, and Hardcore. Characters would start from the beginning on a fresh economy, rather than joining an established realm economy.
The fresh start did not mean every initial endgame feature would be available immediately. Blizzard said Molten Core would open a few weeks after the realm launch. The announcement also highlighted Chronoboon Displacer, used to preserve world buffs, and an improved PvP Honor Ranking system; those are features described for this edition in that announcement, not a guarantee about every Classic realm or its current rules.
What is Mists of Pandaria Classic?
Mists of Pandaria Classic brings the Mists of Pandaria expansion into WoW Classic’s progression experience. In its November 2024 announcement, Blizzard described a return to Pandaria, calling attention to the expansion’s class design, raids, dungeons, environments, and soundtrack. Blizzard announced a summer 2025 arrival window; PC Gamer’s contemporaneous report also gave that window. Neither source establishes a precise launch date.

How do the fresh realms differ from Mists of Pandaria Classic?
They are distinct choices: the Anniversary realms emphasized restarting at the beginning with a new economy, while Mists of Pandaria Classic is an expansion in the progression version of WoW Classic.

What later official information confirms—and what it does not
Blizzard’s January 29, 2026 Welcome Back Weekend post listed Mists of Pandaria Classic as the WoW Classic progression version at that time, alongside Classic Era, Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary, WoW Classic Hardcore, and Season of Discovery. That dated snapshot helps distinguish the expansion’s later place in the lineup from its original summer 2025 announcement window.
