Comparable year-end lists offer useful context about the kinds of games grouped under “multiplayer,” but they are not evidence of DualShockers’ selection.
What is—and isn’t—confirmed about DualShockers’ list
The sources available here do not establish which games DualShockers selected, how it ranked them, or what reasons it gave. Naming specific titles as DualShockers picks would therefore risk misrepresenting the article. The other lists discussed below are independent editorial selections, not substitutes for DualShockers’ own list.

What other 2025 multiplayer lists show
“Multiplayer” spans experiences that are not direct alternatives: cooperative story adventures, cooperative hunts, competitive team shooters, and social climbing games. GamesRadar+ and Destructoid illustrate that range in their year-end selections. GamesRadar+’s 2025 multiplayer list and Destructoid’s list are useful comparisons, but neither confirms DualShockers’ choices.
Co-op formats and group size
GamesRadar+ describes Split Fiction as a two-player cooperative story game, Monster Hunter Wilds as supporting hunts for up to four players, and Elden Ring Nightreign as balanced for three-player co-op. Those differences matter when choosing for a particular group: a game designed around two players may not suit a regular four-person party.

Competitive and mixed experiences
GamesRadar+ describes Battlefield 6 as offering large team battles, vehicles, and multiple modes. Destructoid also includes it, along with ARC Raiders and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Their appearance on Destructoid’s list does not show that DualShockers included them.
Platform fit matters as much as genre
The comparable lists identify different platform combinations, but a platform listing alone does not establish cross-play support. Verify current compatibility for every player’s system before settling on a game.

Why year-end rankings can disagree
These lists reflect editorial judgment rather than a single authoritative ranking. GamesRadar+ presents a ranked top five; Forbes says its twelve selections are in no particular order. Their different formats and choices are reasons to read each as a publication’s perspective, not as a definitive consensus. See Forbes’ December 31, 2025 list for its stated approach.

How to choose a multiplayer game for your group
Once the actual candidates are confirmed, compare them against the needs of the people who will play:
- Play style: Decide whether the group wants cooperative story play, hunts, competitive matches, or a mixed experience.
- Party size: Match the game’s intended group size to the number of people who regularly play together.
- Systems and compatibility: Confirm each player’s platform, then check the game’s current cross-play support directly; the lists cited here do not establish cross-play coverage across the set.
- Local or online play: Check whether everyone needs a separate system and copy, or whether the game supports the group’s preferred way to play. The cited lists do not establish local-play support across these titles.
- Commitment and learning curve: Consider how much time the group has per session, how comfortable newcomers are with the genre, and whether they want an ongoing service or a self-contained game.
These checks help distinguish a good multiplayer game in general from a good fit for a specific group; they do not identify DualShockers’ own winners.
