Gamereactor reported that it arrived during a Nintendo Indie World showcase and that the Switch 2 release is not available on the original Nintendo Switch. The game first launched in April 2025.
What a shadowdrop means here
A shadowdrop is a release that is announced and made available at the same time, with no earlier date or trailer to build anticipation. Blue Prince followed that pattern on Switch 2. Gamereactor’s March 3, 2026 report describes it as one of several titles revealed and released during the Indie World presentation, so anyone who was not watching that stream would have found out only when the game appeared in the store.

Is it available on the original Switch?
No, according to the same report. If you own an original Nintendo Switch, Blue Prince is not a title you can simply download there based on this release. The Switch 2 version is the only Nintendo platform release the report describes.

Dogubomb developed Blue Prince, and Raw Fury published it, according to Gamereactor’s game facts. Those credits cover the game overall rather than any Switch 2 specific port, which the report does not identify.
