To get the Moxxi-associated Phosphene variants of Cold Shoulder and Sweet Embrace in Borderlands 4, use Moxxi’s Tip Jar: Gearbox named it as their loot-pool source. The drops are chance-based; the official sources reviewed do not give an exact tip amount, threshold, or drop rate, so there is no verified guaranteed number of tips.
Gearbox reported a past issue that stopped these variants from dropping after an update, then marked it resolved on March 26, 2026. That is a historical fix, not a live test of every current game build, so check newer official notes if the Tip Jar does not appear to be working.
How to get Cold Shoulder and Sweet Embrace
- Go to Moxxi’s Tip Jar in-game.
- Tip Moxxi and keep trying: Gearbox identifies the Tip Jar loot pool as the source for the Cold Shoulder and Sweet Embrace Phosphene drops.
- Check your drops for the variants. The official information reviewed does not specify a required amount of currency or a guaranteed reward after a particular number of tips.
Gearbox’s February 19, 2026 update notes added the two previously unattainable Phosphene drops to the Tip Jar loot pool. A Borderlands Support issue entry later reported that they were failing to drop after a content update; on March 26, 2026, support said the issue had been resolved.
