How to use a Welkynd Stone
- Open the Inventory Menu.
- Select a Welkynd Stone to restore your Magicka to maximum.
This use instruction comes from the official Oblivion PC manual. Bethesda’s Remastered tips separately confirm that Magicka regenerates, but do not describe every detail of how ordinary stones work in every Remastered version.
Welkynd Stone vs. Varla Stone

| Welkynd Stone | Restores the player’s Magicka to maximum. |
| Varla Stone | Recharges all magical items in your inventory at once. |
These items have different purposes: a Welkynd Stone restores your Magicka, while a Varla Stone recharges magical items. The official PC manual describes both effects.
Quest-specific uses
An ordinary Welkynd Stone also has a quest-specific role in the Cloud Top spell sequence during Fingers of the Mountain Part 2. GameSpot’s quest guide says the stone only needs to be in your inventory for this use. This is a special quest interaction, not a different general effect for ordinary Welkynd Stones.

Do not confuse an ordinary Welkynd Stone with the Great Welkynd Stone involved in the Defense of Bruma quest. Bethesda Support identifies the Great Welkynd Stone as part of that quest.
Where do you find Welkynd Stones?
The sources consulted here do not establish exact locations, respawn behavior, or a version-wide placement rule for ordinary Welkynd Stones in Oblivion Remastered. Avoid relying on claims that they only appear in particular locations or return after a set number of days without further evidence.

What is the difference between a Welkynd Stone and a Varla Stone?

Does a Welkynd Stone have a quest use?
Yes. GameSpot’s guide says an ordinary Welkynd Stone can serve as a conduit in the Cloud Top spell sequence and only needs to be in your inventory. The Great Welkynd Stone is a separate quest item associated with Defense of Bruma.
