First check whether the Borderlands 4 Twitch Drops campaign is still active. As of August 10, 2026, the official Borderlands Twitch Drops page lists the known 2026 Golden Key promotion and the 2025 Borderlands 4 promotions under Previous Campaigns; it does not show an active Borderlands 4 campaign. The latest archived 2026 campaign ran from May 28 through June 1, 2026. You cannot earn an expired drop by relinking accounts, restarting the game, or watching ordinary Borderlands 4 streams. A new campaign must be officially announced and appear as active on the Borderlands or Twitch campaign page.

The message Twitch Drops not working can describe three different failures. Treat the process as a pipeline:

1. Earn: Twitch records watch progress from an eligible live stream.
2. Claim: You press Claim in Twitch Drops Inventory after reaching the requirement.
3. Deliver: Twitch passes the claimed reward to the linked SHiFT account, and Borderlands makes it available in-game.

• No progress or no Claim button: troubleshoot Twitch, the campaign, and the stream.
• Twitch says Connect even though SHiFT says linked: check the SHiFT-side connection before changing anything.
• Twitch says Claimed but the item is missing in Borderlands 4: troubleshoot SHiFT delivery, the character that received the item, and the in-game reward location.

1. Check whether the campaign is active

Open both the official Borderlands Twitch Drops page and Twitch Drops Inventory. An active campaign should show the Borderlands 4 reward, the required watch time, eligible channels or categories, and an expiration date.

Do not assume a campaign is active because:

• a streamer is currently playing Borderlands 4;
• an old reward appears in a guide, video, or social-media post;
• the reward is visible in an old Twitch notification;
• you previously linked Twitch to SHiFT successfully.

Borderlands states that rewards are available only during an active Drops period. If Borderlands 4 does not appear as an active campaign in Twitch Drops Inventory, there is no account or console fix that can reactivate an expired promotion. Wait for a new official campaign.

Do not create a new SHiFT account to work around a missing reward. That can split your entitlements between accounts and make the original reward harder to recover.

3. Check the SHiFT connections

Use the SHiFT website rather than trusting only the button shown on Twitch:

1. Sign into the SHiFT account you intend to use in Borderlands 4.

4. Confirm that the stream is eligible

For watch progress to count, the stream must meet the campaign’s conditions. Usually that means all of the following:

• The video is live, not a VOD, replay, or clip.
• Twitch displays a Drops Enabled indicator.
• The stream is in the required Borderlands 4 category.
• The channel is eligible for that particular reward.
• You are signed into Twitch.

Both Twitch and Borderlands Support say that VODs, replays, and clips do not count. Progress can also be earned from only one participating channel at a time. Watching several eligible streams simultaneously does not reliably combine their timers.

The old Borderlands 4 rewards had different rules

Simply watching Borderlands 4 for two hours was not enough for every launch reward:

• ECHO-4: the current official archive says to watch the Borderlands 4 category on the official Borderlands 4 or Gearbox Twitch channel.
• Forsaken Chaos: required two hours in the Borderlands 4 category.
• Midnight Defiance: required two hours on an eligible partnered creator’s stream.
• Forsaken Chaos and Midnight Defiance: their progress did not run simultaneously. The two weapons required four combined hours: two hours for each reward.

This is why a player could watch a Borderlands 4 broadcast for two hours and receive only one weapon, or receive no Midnight Defiance progress if the broadcaster was not an eligible partnered creator.

5. Fix Twitch progress that is stuck at zero

If the campaign is active but the progress bar does not move, work through this list:

1. Confirm the stream is live and visibly marked Drops Enabled.
2. Confirm the stream is in the category and channel type required by the campaign.
3. Stop watching other participating channels at the same time.
4. Make sure the player is running rather than paused or disconnected.
5. Refresh the Twitch page and Twitch Drops Inventory.
6. Temporarily disable ad blockers and aggressive privacy extensions.
7. Try Twitch in a normal desktop browser or a private/incognito window.
8. Sign out of Twitch, sign back in, and reopen Drops Inventory.

Twitch identifies ineligible channels, expired campaigns, ad blockers, simultaneous channels, page-refresh problems, and non-live video as possible causes of missing progress.

Do not treat browser-tab muting, minimizing the window, VPN use, or a particular browser as universal Borderlands rules. Twitch’s official guidance emphasizes a live, eligible stream; claims that muting or minimizing always stops progress are not established by the Borderlands instructions.

6. Claim the reward after reaching 100%

Reaching 100% does not necessarily mean the reward has been sent to SHiFT. You may still need to claim it manually:

1. Open Twitch.
2. Open your profile menu.
3. Select Drops & Rewards, or go directly to Drops Inventory.
4. Find the Borderlands 4 reward.
5. Press Claim.
6. Confirm that its status changes to Claimed.

The important statuses mean different things:

• Progress at 100% or Ready to Claim: Twitch recorded the required viewing, but you have not necessarily completed the Twitch step.
• Claimed: Twitch has completed its part and the reward should proceed to SHiFT delivery.
• Claimed but absent in-game: the problem is now primarily account-linking, SHiFT synchronization, delivery, or in-game redemption.

For the Borderlands 4 campaigns, Borderlands instructed players to claim rewards within 24 hours of the Twitch notification. Twitch’s general claim window can vary by campaign, but the Borderlands-specific instruction is the safer one to follow.

7. Find the reward in Borderlands 4

For Borderlands 4 Twitch Drops, use the dedicated reward location:

1. Load into a Vault Hunter.
2. Open the inventory.
3. Go to Equipment.
4. Open Reward Center.
5. Redeem the Twitch reward.

The current UI may change slightly after a game update, so look for the Reward Center function under the inventory’s equipment section rather than relying on an old screenshot.

Do not assume every Twitch reward arrives in a mailbox. Generic instructions for SHiFT codes, pre-order items, and special-edition content may use a different menu path, but they are not interchangeable with the dedicated Twitch Drops instructions. Reward level and claim timing

Borderlands says equippable Twitch Drop gear scales to the Vault Hunter’s level when the reward is claimed in Twitch Drops Inventory, with a minimum level of 5. Do not assume that delaying the in-game redemption will make the weapon stronger; the relevant timing is the Twitch claim. The official information also does not justify promising a level-50 reward.

8. Golden Keys use a different location

Golden Keys do not necessarily appear in Reward Center or as an in-game message. Borderlands says Twitch-earned Golden Keys are added directly to your inventory.

To check them, open the inventory and inspect the Currency tab in the lower-right area. If you look only in Reward Center, you may incorrectly conclude that the Golden Key drop failed.

9. Restart Borderlands 4 and allow delivery time

If Twitch shows Claimed but the reward is not in the game, use the official delayed-delivery workaround:

1. Fully close Borderlands 4. Do not merely suspend it or leave it paused.
2. Wait briefly, then relaunch the game.
3. Load a Vault Hunter and check Inventory → Equipment → Reward Center.
4. Check all characters, the bank, cosmetic menus, and Currency if applicable.
5. If the item is still absent, wait an hour or two and restart again.

Borderlands Support says Twitch rewards can take up to 24 hours to reach the SHiFT account. Restarting may resynchronize the Twitch and SHiFT servers, although it is not guaranteed to solve every delivery failure.

Do not open a support ticket immediately after clicking Claim if the campaign’s delivery window has not passed. First save evidence of the claimed status and allow the stated synchronization period.

10. Use account relinking carefully

Relinking is not the first fix, and you should not casually unlink the platform account. Borderlands warns that Twitch Drops and SHiFT-code content are tied to the SHiFT account; unlinking a Steam, Epic, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account can cause you to lose access to that content.

Safer relinking sequence

1. Confirm that you are using the correct SHiFT account.
2. Confirm that the game platform is still linked to that account.
3. Confirm the Twitch connection on SHiFT’s Gaming Platforms page.
4. Check SHiFT Rewards.
5. Sign out of Twitch and SHiFT, then sign back in.
6. Try a private browser window or a different browser.
7. If a reset is genuinely necessary, disconnect and reconnect Twitch only first.
8. Recheck SHiFT Rewards and Twitch Drops Inventory.
9. Restart Borderlands 4.

Do not create another SHiFT account, repeatedly unlink and relink every service, or remove the game-platform connection just because Twitch displays Connect. Community reports describe Twitch continuing to show that button even after SHiFT has recognized the connection or reward. Disconnecting and reconnecting Twitch has sometimes helped in those reports, but it is an anecdotal workaround, not a guaranteed official fix.

The ECHO-4 requirement changed in published information

Some contemporary launch coverage, including PC Gamer’s 2025 guide, listed the ECHO-4 skin as requiring 30 minutes and ending September 29, 2025. The later official Borderlands archive lists 15 minutes and a September 29–October 25, 2025 campaign period. For current troubleshooting, the official archive and the live campaign card are the stronger sources.

The weapon timers were not simultaneous

The official Borderlands issue tracker confirms that Forsaken Chaos and Midnight Defiance could not be earned simultaneously. Two hours of viewing did not guarantee both weapons; the historical campaign required two separate two-hour periods.

Twitch Drops are not the same as ordinary SHiFT-code rewards

Some third-party pages describe rewards arriving in an in-game mailbox. That is not a safe universal instruction for Twitch Drops.
