The official game website also directs users to Steam rather than providing a separate current Windows installer. For the normal, legitimate installation, Steam handles the purchase, account ownership, download, dependencies, updates, and file verification.
The US Steam store displayed a price of $14.99 when checked on August 10, 2026. Steam prices vary by country and currency and can change because of sales, tax, regional pricing, or other promotions, so check the store page for the price in your location.

Is Feed and Grow: Fish free on PC?
No current official free full PC version was found. The current official PC release is the paid Steam version. Avoid pages that promise a “free download” of the full game through an unknown installer, repack, torrent, launcher, APK, or emulator.
Those pages may be offering:
- an unofficial copy or repack;
- a different mobile game with a similar name;
- an old prototype or alpha build;
- an installer unrelated to the developer; or
- a download that creates unnecessary security and account risks.
Do not enter your Steam password into a third-party launcher or disable antivirus protection to install an unofficial copy. The official current distribution route is Steam.
The old GameJolt prototype is not the current Steam game
Historical developer discussions referred to a much smaller, unfinished prototype distributed through GameJolt. That build was distinguished from the larger Steam Early Access release and had less content, including no multiplayer according to the historical discussion. It should be described as a prototype or historical build, not as a free version of the current game.
Its old availability and safety should not be assumed simply because it was once discussed by the developers. If a search result presents the prototype as the complete modern PC release, it is describing the game inaccurately. See the historical Steam Community discussion for the distinction.

These are the hardware requirements currently displayed on Steam:

These are publisher-provided requirements shown on the Steam store page. The page does not specify a CPU model or a clearly stated modern Windows version. It also does not promise a particular frame rate or guarantee that every Windows 10 or Windows 11 configuration will work.
The listed 2 GB is the game’s stated storage requirement, not a recommendation to leave exactly 2 GB free on the drive. Leave additional space for Steam’s download, temporary allocation files, updates, and normal Windows operation. Updated Windows and graphics drivers are also sensible prerequisites before troubleshooting a launch problem.

How to install Feed and Grow: Fish through Steam
For people who do not have Steam
- Go to Steam’s official installation instructions and download the Steam client.
- Run the Steam installer. Steam may request administrator permission and an internet connection.
- Open Steam and either create a Steam account or sign in to an existing account.
- Complete any email, CAPTCHA, or security verification Steam requests.
- Search the Steam store for Feed and Grow: Fish.
- Confirm that the page identifies Old B1ood as the developer and Greens s.r.o. as the publisher. The correct listing has app ID
429050. - Buy the game if it is not already associated with your account.
- Open the Library tab in Steam.
- Select Feed and Grow: Fish in the list of games.
- Click Install.
- Choose the Steam library or drive where you want to install the game, then confirm.
- Wait for Steam to download and allocate the files. The time depends on your connection, download region, drive, and available disk space.
- When installation finishes, click Play.
Launch the game from Steam rather than opening an executable manually. That allows Steam to apply the account license and normal configuration.
For people who already own it
- Sign in to the Steam account that purchased or redeemed the game.
- Open Library.
- Search for Feed and Grow: Fish.
- Select the game and click Install.
If the game is already installed, the button should be Play instead. If it is missing from the Library, use the account and ownership checks below before purchasing it again.
Installing to another drive
In current Steam clients, open Steam → Settings → Storage. Use the + button to add another library location, then choose that library when installing the game. Steam’s default Windows library is commonly located at:

What happens after installation?
Steam should change the Library button from Install to Play. Steam metadata identifies the main game executable as:

FeedAndGrowFishLauncher.exeA developer announcement in 2021 said that the launcher could automatically install .NET Framework 4.8 if it was required. You normally should not launch either executable directly. Start the game through Steam so Steam can manage the installation and launch configuration.
Already bought it but cannot find it in your Library?
Do not buy the game again immediately. Steam lists several common reasons a purchased game may not appear:

- You are using the wrong account. Check the purchase receipt and Steam purchase history, then sign in to the account that completed the transaction.
- The game is hidden. Open Steam’s hidden-games view and remove Feed and Grow: Fish from hidden games if necessary.
- The purchase is still pending. Check your purchase history and email for a completed receipt. A failed or pending transaction may not add the game to your Library.
- Family Sharing access ended. A shared game can disappear when the lending account, sharing permission, or access arrangement changes.
- The Steam client needs to refresh. Sign out of Steam, close it fully, reopen it, and sign back in.

Steam download problems and fixes
The download is slow
Try these steps in order:
- Check whether the apparent speed is shown in bytes rather than bits. Internet providers commonly advertise speeds in bits, while Steam may display download rates in bytes.
- Open Steam → Settings → Downloads.
- Check the selected Download Region.
- Choose your own region or a nearby region and retry. No single region is best for every connection.
- Temporarily test whether security software, packet filtering, a VPN, or network restrictions are interfering with Steam.
- Restart Steam and retry the download.
- Confirm that the destination drive has enough free space for allocation and installation.

Steam says it is installed, but the game cannot be found
Open Steam → Settings → Storage and confirm that the drive containing the game’s Steam library is listed. If the files still exist, try starting the installation process again so Steam can rediscover them, then verify the files.
If you moved a Steam installation, preserve the steamapps folder before making changes. External drives, interrupted writes, and force-shutting down Windows while Steam is writing can corrupt installation information. Steam’s library recognition guidance explains this class of problem.

- Restart the computer.
- Open Steam and go to Library.
- Right-click Feed and Grow: Fish, or open its gear menu.
- Choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to finish, then launch the game again.
Steam may report that one or more files failed verification because local configuration files are not replaced. That message does not automatically mean the installation is unusable. Follow the official file-verification instructions and retry the game.
Antivirus quarantined a game file
Steam lists antivirus quarantine as one possible cause of a missing-executable error, along with corrupted files and failed downloads. Check your antivirus quarantine history first. Do not restore a file merely because an unofficial download page tells you to.
If the file came from the official Steam installation and the detection is demonstrably a false positive, use the antivirus vendor’s own process for handling it, then verify the game files through Steam. If the file repeatedly disappears, contact Steam Support rather than downloading a replacement executable from elsewhere. See Steam’s missing-executable guidance.

The game downloads but will not launch
If Steam shows “Preparing to Launch” and then closes, use this basic sequence:
- Install available Windows updates.
- Update your graphics driver from the GPU manufacturer or your computer manufacturer.
- Verify the game files using the Steam procedure above.
- Close nonessential overlays and background applications that may interfere with Steam or the game.
- Compare the computer with the Steam requirements, especially DirectX 11 support and 2 GB of VRAM.
- Try launching again through Steam.
The game’s Steam support page lists [email protected] as a support email. However, Steam warns that the developers’ last update was more than four years ago, so readers should not assume that a quick response or a modern compatibility fix is available.
Optional community launch workaround
A Steam Community discussion reports a possible workaround for some launch failures. To try it, open:
Library → right-click the game → Properties → General → Launch Options
Then enter:
cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 && %command%"This is unofficial, community-supplied, and version-specific. It is not a guaranteed fix. Try file verification, driver updates, and a normal Steam launch first. Remove the launch option if it does not help or causes a different problem. The workaround was reported in a Steam Community discussion.
Does it work on Mac or Linux?
- Windows: This is the official target listed by the shipped Steam configuration.
- macOS: No native macOS version is listed in the official Steam configuration.
- Linux: No native Linux version is listed. Linux users may be able to run the Windows build through Proton, but that is compatibility-layer use, not a native Linux release.
SteamDB’s configuration metadata identifies Windows as the shipped operating system. A Mac user should not treat installing an Android APK in an emulator as installing the official PC game; mobile emulator listings generally refer to separate apps or unofficial distributions.
Does Feed and Grow: Fish work on Steam Deck?
SteamDB records the game as Playable on SteamOS based on a Valve compatibility test dated August 18, 2022. That is useful evidence, but it is an old test for an old and lightly maintained game—not a current guarantee.
The recorded limitations include small text, occasional mouse-and-keyboard-style controls, imperfect controller prompts, and the possibility that you will need to adjust the display resolution manually. Check the SteamDB compatibility information and be prepared to test the game yourself on the Deck.

Feed and Grow: Fish may be worth considering if you specifically want its existing fish-eating survival sandbox and accept the limitations of an Early Access title. It is a less suitable purchase if you expect a recently updated game, a clearly scheduled full release, polished modern controller support, or guaranteed compatibility across Windows, macOS, Linux, and handheld devices.
The Steam page still labels the game Early Access and warns that the development information may no longer be current. Official Steam news appears to stop at December 24, 2021. SteamDB records a build dated April 29, 2024, but it has no official patch notes; that does not establish that the game received a content update or that active development has resumed. Do not buy it on the assumption that a full release is imminent.
Use the Steam refund window as a compatibility test
Steam’s standard refund rule is normally:
- request the refund within 14 days of purchase; and
- have fewer than 2 hours of playtime.
Online, offline, and shared-library playtime can count toward the limit. Steam may consider exceptional requests outside the standard rule, but approval is not guaranteed. If you are uncertain whether the game will launch on your system, install and test it promptly. The current policy is described in Steam’s refund FAQ.

Optional: start the download remotely
Steam can allow a browser or the Steam Mobile app to initiate a remote download on a private computer. For this to work, Steam must be running and signed in on the target PC. Only use remote installation with a private, secured computer, not a public or shared machine. Steam documents the feature in its remote-download instructions.

No. The historical GameJolt build was described as a smaller unfinished prototype. It should not be presented as the current full Steam Early Access release.
