The best default is simple: assign each dealer nearby low- and mid-spending customers, then keep your most profitable customers for direct sales. Every dealer takes a 20% cut, the current capacity is 10 customers per dealer rather than the old eight, and dealers must be stocked manually. There is no permanently correct customer ranking: the right assignment depends on whether you value passive income, maximum personal profit, simpler production, or safer routes.
This guide covers all six dealers, their reported unlock contacts, practical starting rosters, stocking decisions, assignment rules, current-version caveats, and fixes for dealers that stop selling. It reflects the official game news available through August 10, 2026, including patch v0.4.6f12, posted August 7.
The short answer: who should each dealer get?
Use these as practical starting points rather than official rankings:
- Benji Coleman: Northtown’s low- and mid-value customers, with Jessi Waters kept personally if she is one of your best earners.
- Molly Presley: Westville customers, but review Dean Webster and George Greene before delegating them.
- Brad Crosby: Downtown customers, with Louis Fourier worth keeping personally if his unusual effect requirements complicate your stock.
- Jane Lucero: Docks customers, including a cheap product for Genghis Barn.
- Wei Long: Suburbia’s full local roster if you can maintain the quality those customers expect.
- Leo Rivers: Uptown customers only after checking whether their high spending makes direct selling more profitable for you.
For a convenience-focused playthrough, assign almost every available local customer and restock periodically. For maximum personal revenue, assign the customers who generate the least money or consume the most travel time and personally handle the richest customers.

Dealer facts at a glance
Dealers are hired NPCs who sell products supplied by the player. They operate through the phone’s Dealer Management app, receive assigned customers, and keep a percentage of completed sales. The six dealers, their reported locations, and their buy-in costs are consistently documented by current dealer references such as PC Gamer and the Schedule I wiki.
| Dealer | Region and location | Buy-in | Cut | Current capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Benji Coleman | Northtown, Motel Room 2 | $500 | 20% | 10 customers |
| Molly Presley | Westville, Brown Apartment | $1,000 | 20% | 10 customers |
| Brad Crosby | Downtown, Parking Garage | $2,000 | 20% | 10 customers |
| Jane Lucero | Docks, RV | $3,000 | 20% | 10 customers |
| Wei Long | Suburbia, Shack | $4,000 | 20% | 10 customers |
| Leo Rivers | Uptown, near the Church | $5,000 | 20% | 10 customers |
The six buy-ins total $15,500. The 20% commission is the reliable economic cost of delegation, but dealer sale-price behavior is less certain: community reports disagree about whether dealers use the player’s listed price, a recommended price, or a customer-specific offer. The official patch notes reviewed do not settle that question. Compare a dealer’s actual payout with an equivalent personal sale in your current version rather than assuming a universal pricing rule. See the community discussion of this issue at Steam and Reddit.
In the simplest case, a personal $100 sale would leave $80 after a 20% dealer cut if the dealer completed the same $100 sale. That does not prove that both sales will use the same price, quantity, or customer offer.
How to unlock all six dealers
Dealers are unlocked by progressing through the relevant regional customer network and improving relationships with customers connected to the dealer. The referral names below are the commonly reported contacts, but published lists contain spelling and roster inconsistencies. If a name does not match your save, use the phone’s contacts and map: the in-game network is more authoritative than a static guide.
| Dealer | Commonly reported referral contacts | Practical progression note |
|---|---|---|
| Benji Coleman | Chloe Bowers or Beth Penn | Usually the first and cheapest automation option. |
| Molly Presley | George Greene, Charles Rowland, or Jerry Montero | Progress through Westville’s customer network. |
| Brad Crosby | Randy Caulfield, Greg Figgle, or Eugene Buckley | Progress through Downtown contacts. |
| Jane Lucero | Melissa Wood or Billy Kramer/Cramer | The spelling of Billy’s surname varies between references. |
| Wei Long | Jackie Stevenson, Jeremy Wilkinson, or Harold Colt | Progress through Suburbia’s higher-standard network. |
| Leo Rivers | Ray Hoffman or Michael Boog | The most expensive buy-in and a potentially lucrative region. |
There is no need to wait until all six are unlocked before assigning customers. Benji can remove low-value delivery work early, while later dealers are most useful once you can afford their buy-ins, maintain multiple inventories, and produce enough stock to keep their customer lists supplied.
How to assign customers in the Dealer Management app
- Open the in-game phone.
- Open Dealers or Dealer Management.
- Select the dealer you want to configure.
- Scroll to the customer section and choose Assign Customer, the plus button, or the equivalent control shown in your interface.
- Select an unassigned customer from the available contacts.
- Repeat until the dealer has the roster you want, up to the current 10-customer limit.
- Transfer products into that dealer’s separate inventory.
- Return later to check assignments, remaining stock, and completed sales.
Labels and controls may look different on keyboard and mouse compared with gamepad. The v0.4.6 update rebuilt major UI and input systems and added support for Xbox controllers, PS5 DualSense, Steam Controller, and Steam Deck; generic Windows XInput controllers are expected to work as well. The official update history is available on the Schedule I Steam news page.
What changes when a customer is assigned?
An assigned customer generally stops texting the player directly for future orders and is handled by the dealer instead. Reassignment is therefore not just a map label: it changes who receives future business.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Be careful when moving a customer immediately after accepting an order. A deal that was already scheduled before reassignment may remain attached to the player rather than transferring automatically. It can expire if ignored. The safest time to reorganize a roster is between deal cycles, after checking for active orders. This behavior is reported in the Steam discussion on reassigned customers.
Dealers need their own stock
Your main inventory is not automatically the dealer’s inventory. After assigning customers:
- Transfer enough packaged product into the dealer’s inventory.
- Confirm that the product is actually visible in the dealer’s stock rather than only in your own storage.
- Keep enough quantity for several customers, not just one accepted deal.
- Avoid filling a small dealer inventory with too many unrelated products.
- Check later that quantities are falling and completed sales are being recorded.
Manual stocking is consistently reported by current guides, but inventory behavior can change with updates. If a dealer has stock but does nothing, use the troubleshooting sequence below instead of assuming the customer list is wrong.
What makes a customer “best”?
The word best needs a strategy attached to it. A customer can be excellent for a dealer because they are close and low-value, or excellent for the player because they spend enough to justify a personal delivery.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Your goal | Prefer assigning | Keep personally |
|---|---|---|
| Passive automation | Nearby low- and mid-spending customers. | Only customers whose orders you actively want to manage. |
| Maximum personal profit | Low spenders, low-standard customers, and inconvenient routes. | The highest spenders and customers who respond well to direct selling, counteroffers, or delivery bonuses. |
| Simpler production | Customers with overlapping preferred effects. | Customers whose preferences require a separate specialist product. |
| Safer, easier play | Customers in police-heavy, distant, or inconvenient areas. | Safe, nearby high-value orders that are worth your time. |
Region and distance
Assigning customers to the dealer in their own neighborhood is the safest default. It keeps routes understandable and may reduce the risk of inefficient travel. However, community testing is conflicting: some players report that cross-city assignments reduce sales speed, while others see little meaningful difference with identical stock. The official update adding customer-region information supports using region as a practical organizing principle, but it does not establish a precise hidden distance multiplier. The community testing summarized by Dot Esports and conflicting player reports on Steam should be treated as evidence, not a guaranteed formula.
Start locally. If you want to test cross-region assignments, move one or two customers and compare completed deals, time between sales, and expired deals over several in-game days.

Spending power
High-spending customers are usually better personal customers because direct sales preserve the full sale amount and let you manage offers, bonuses, and relationships. Low-spending customers often make better dealer assignments because the player’s travel time is less valuable than the order.
Do not use a universal weekly-spend cutoff. Spending changes with progression, loyalty, product quality, customer standards, and the save state. Open the current contacts or dealer interface and rank customers by the spending information shown there instead of copying a fixed dollar threshold from an older guide.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Preferred effects and standards
Grouping customers with overlapping preferred effects can let a dealer sell one or two repeatable mixes instead of forcing you to manufacture a separate product for every customer. The trade-off is that an effect-matched dealer may require cross-region assignments, while a local roster may be easier for the dealer to serve.
Do not treat any single recipe as universally optimal. Published recipes use inconsistent ingredient names and often target older versions. The official v0.4.5 notes also changed how customers evaluate product enjoyment, making old recipe claims particularly vulnerable to becoming outdated. Use the Dealer Management app’s current region and standard information, then test your own product quality, price, and effect combination.
Best customers for Benji Coleman
Region: Northtown. Buy-in: $500. Benji is the best first dealer for reducing routine travel because the investment is small and Northtown has a practical group of lower- and mid-value customers.
Recommended starting roster
These eight names form the strongest recurring consensus in published dealer lists, including the list compared by Dot Esports:
- Austin Steiner
- Chloe Bowers
- Donna Martin
- Kathy Henderson
- Kyle Cooley
- Ludwig Meyer
- Peggy Myers
- Peter File
Once you want a full passive roster, add up to two additional Northtown customers shown as available in your current app. Commonly suggested options include Sam Tompson, Mick Lubbin, Mrs. Ming, and Beth Penn. Do not add a name merely because it appears in an online list; confirm that the customer is currently marked as Northtown in your save.
Who to keep personally
Do not automatically assign Jessi Waters if she is producing unusually high revenue in your save. She is specifically identified in published recommendations as a customer worth retaining for direct sales. More generally, compare Jessi’s weekly spending with the time required to serve her: if the order is easy and lucrative, the 20% cut may exceed the convenience value of delegation.
How to stock Benji
- Begin with a cheap, easy-to-produce routine product.
- Add a second product only when the assigned customers’ preferred effects justify it.
- Do not fill Benji’s inventory with an expensive product that Northtown’s lower-income customers cannot buy frequently.
- Use Benji for volume and convenience rather than as a test of your most valuable or specialized product.
Best customers for Molly Presley
Region: Westville. Buy-in: $1,000. Molly’s current practical roster contains 10 commonly listed Westville customers, so she can be filled without relying on cross-region assignments.
Full local starting roster
- Charles Rowland
- Dean Webster
- Doris Lubbin
- George Greene
- Joyce Ball
- Jerry Montero
- Keith Wagner
- Kim Delaney
- Meg Cooley
- Trent Sherman
The full Westville list is also covered in current customer references from PCGamesN. If your objective is maximum personal profit, review Dean Webster and George Greene before assigning them; both are repeatedly identified as valuable direct-sale customers. That does not make them bad dealer customers for every player. A player who prioritizes time savings may still assign them and accept the commission.

How to stock Molly
Westville’s customers have varied preferred effects, so one universal mix is unlikely to serve the entire roster equally well. Check the standards and effect preferences currently visible in the app. Start with the effects shared by the largest portion of your assigned roster, then add a second product only if the sales data shows that customers are being missed or undersupplied.
Best customers for Brad Crosby
Region: Downtown. Buy-in: $2,000. Brad is especially useful when Downtown deliveries are inconvenient or expose the player to more police risk, but do not assume that a dealer is officially immune to arrest unless a current patch documents it. The practical benefit is reducing the player’s own travel and exposure, not guaranteed NPC immunity.
Corrected Downtown starting roster
- Elizabeth Homley
- Eugene Buckley
- Greg Figgle
- Jeff Gilmore
- Jennifer Rivera
- Kevin Oakley
- Louis Fourier
- Lucy Pennington
- Philip Wentworth
- Randy Caulfield
Older guides sometimes put Sam Thompson or Geraldine Poon on Brad’s list, even though current regional references place those names elsewhere. Check the region displayed in your own app before moving either customer.
The Louis Fourier exception
Louis Fourier is worth treating separately. His preferred effects can make him awkward to serve with a generalized Downtown dealer mix, especially if his product displaces effects that suit several other customers. One published strategy recommends keeping him personally. This is not an official restriction: assign him to Brad if convenience wins, but keep him out of the default roster if you want a simpler or more efficient stock setup.

How to stock Brad
Downtown’s roster can include customers looking for toxic, sedating, euphoric, calming, or calorie-dense effects. Build around the largest overlap shown in the current app rather than blindly copying an old recipe. Brad is a good candidate for two products with broad effect coverage, but only if both products sell regularly.
Best customers for Jane Lucero
Region: Docks. Buy-in: $3,000. Jane’s commonly listed local roster contains nine customers, so filling all 10 slots is not necessary unless your current contact list shows another Docks customer.
Full Docks starting roster
- Anna Chesterfield
- Billy Cramer
- Cranky Frank
- Genghis Barn
- Javier Perez
- Lisa Gardener
- Mac Cooper
- Marco Barone
- Melissa Wood
Some references spell Billy’s surname as Kramer, while others use Cramer. Melissa Wood is also an example of a customer who appears in the wrong region in some older lists. Use the current in-game region field.
The Genghis Barn exception
Genghis Barn is commonly listed as accepting very low-quality product. Keep a cheap, low-quality option available if you assign him to Jane; otherwise you may waste higher-quality stock on a customer who does not require it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHow to stock Jane
- Keep one cheap product for lower-standard customers such as Genghis Barn.
- Use a second product for the larger group of moderate-standard customers.
- Do not give Jane only expensive or highly specialized products.
- If you retain a high-value Docks customer personally, use Jane primarily for low-value volume and inconvenient deliveries.
Best customers for Wei Long
Region: Suburbia. Buy-in: $4,000. Suburbia’s commonly published roster has exactly 10 customers, matching the current capacity. Wei is therefore a straightforward full-local assignment, provided you can maintain suitable quality.
Full Suburbia starting roster
- Alison Knight
- Carl Bundy
- Chris Sullivan
- Dennis Kennedy
- Hank Stevenson
- Jack Knight
- Jackie Stevenson
- Jeremy Wilkinson
- Harold Colt
- Karen Kennedy
These names and regional associations are compared in the PCGamesN customer guide. Suburbia customers generally have higher standards, so an under-quality product can make a full 10-customer assignment perform poorly even when the roster itself is correct.
Premium customers to consider keeping personally
Review the following before delegating if you are optimizing direct profit:
- Alison Knight
- Dennis Kennedy
- Hank Stevenson
- Jack Knight
- Jackie Stevenson
- Karen Kennedy
- Jeremy Wilkinson
These names appear in published high-value or premium-customer lists, but the actual weekly-spend order can vary with progression, loyalty, and your save. Keep the ones that your own contacts screen shows to be worth the trip, then give Wei the remaining local customers.

Prioritize product quality and suitable effects over cheap volume. A low-cost product may be efficient for early-region dealers but unsuitable for Suburbia’s standards. Start with the best broadly accepted product you can produce consistently, then monitor whether customers are buying it rather than assuming that a premium region automatically justifies your most expensive recipe.
Best customers for Leo Rivers
Region: Uptown. Buy-in: $5,000. Leo is the most expensive dealer, and Uptown customers may be lucrative enough that delegation costs more in lost personal revenue than it saves in time.
Practical Uptown starting roster
Public references conflict over the exact Uptown roster and several spellings. These are the commonly cited names:
- Fiona Hancock
- Herbert Bleuball
- Jen Heard
- Lily Turner
- Michael Boog
- Pearl Moore
- Ray Hoffman
- Tobas Wentworth
- Walter Cussler
- One additional Uptown customer shown in your current in-game contact list, if available
Variants include Herbert Blueball and Walter Crussler, and some lists omit Tobas Wentworth or show only nine customers. Do not force a tenth name from a website. Assign the additional customer only when the current app identifies that person as Uptown.
Premium customers to consider keeping personally
The most consistently cited premium Uptown customers are Fiona Hancock, Herbert Bleuball, Jen Heard, Ray Hoffman, and Walter Cussler. If those customers generate strong repeat orders, test personal sales before assigning them to Leo. If you dislike Uptown travel or already have production and logistics automated, assigning them can still be the correct convenience choice.
When Leo’s buy-in is worthwhile
Leo makes the most sense when your production can keep a dealer supplied, your personal schedule is crowded with high-value work, and the time saved from Uptown deliveries is worth the $5,000 entry cost plus the 20% cut. A profit-focused player should not buy Leo merely to fill another 10 slots if those customers are easy and highly profitable to serve personally.

Three assignment strategies that work
1. Maximum convenience
Assign every available local customer, up to 10 per dealer. This is usually the best ordinary-player setup once production is stable.
- Use local rosters first.
- Keep dealers stocked with products their customers can afford.
- Restock during production runs, before sleeping, or whenever you are already near the dealer’s area.
- Accept the 20% cut as payment for time, travel, and reduced micromanagement.
This strategy is particularly useful if you dislike manual deliveries, play multiplayer, frequently miss curfew windows, or want to spend most of your time producing and expanding.
2. Maximum personal profit
Give dealers the customers that are least attractive to serve yourself:
- Low-spending customers.
- Low-standard customers who can use inexpensive stock.
- Customers with inconvenient routes or poor order value.
- Customers in areas where you regularly lose time or encounter police attention.
Keep personally:
- The highest spenders.
- Customers with unusually favorable repeat-order behavior.
- Customers whose preferred effects are easy for you to produce.
- Customers who benefit from direct counteroffers or delivery bonuses.
There is no universal dollar threshold. Recheck the ranking as your product quality, customer loyalty, and progression change.
3. Effect-matched dealers
Group customers with overlapping preferred effects and give that dealer one or two products built around the overlap.
Advantages: fewer product types, simpler manufacturing, and less inventory clutter.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Disadvantages: cross-region assignments may be less efficient, customers can have incompatible standards or budgets, and the customer-enjoyment rules can change between patches. Treat a recipe as a setup to test, not a permanent universal answer.
4. Risk-minimizing coverage
Assign customers in police-heavy or inconvenient areas even when they are more profitable than average. The dealer’s value here is the opportunity cost of avoiding travel, curfew problems, and interruptions to production. Do not treat community observations such as dealer arrest immunity as a guaranteed current mechanic.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to test whether your roster is actually better
Because dealer pricing and travel behavior are not fully documented, use a small controlled comparison instead of relying on a static ranking:
- Record a customer’s usual order value, product, and approximate time between accepted and completed deals.
- Sell to that customer personally for several comparable orders.
- Assign the customer to a local dealer with the same product quality and enough stock.
- Record dealer payout, completed sales, missed or expired deals, and restocking time.
- Compare net revenue after the 20% cut with the value of the time you spent personally delivering.
For cross-region testing, compare at least one local and one cross-region customer over several in-game days. A single missed order is not enough evidence of a permanent pathfinding penalty.
Dealer troubleshooting
My dealer has no sales
- Open Dealer Management and confirm that the intended customers are still assigned.
- Check the dealer’s own inventory, not just your main inventory.
- Confirm the product is packaged in a form the dealer can sell.
- Make sure there is enough quantity for multiple potential orders.
- Check whether the product’s quality, effects, or price are unsuitable for the assigned customers.
- Wait through another deal window; a stocked dealer does not necessarily produce an immediate sale.
- Save and restart if the NPC appears stuck.
- Remove and re-add the inventory to refresh the dealer’s stock state.
- Only then consider unassigning and reassigning a customer, after checking for active deals.
- Review current patch notes for known NPC, pathfinding, or dealer bugs.
These are practical recovery steps reported by current dealer guides, not guaranteed fixes. PC Gamer’s troubleshooting guidance likewise recommends checking stock, restarting, and refreshing dealer inventory.
A deal expired after I reassigned the customer
That can happen when an order was accepted before the customer moved to a dealer. Complete active orders personally where possible, and reorganize customers between deal cycles. Reassignment does not necessarily retroactively transfer a scheduled deal.
The dealer has stock but seems to choose the wrong product
Reduce the inventory to one or two products temporarily. Confirm that those products meet the assigned customers’ standards and preferred effects. High-price products can also make a dealer look slow because customers may buy fewer units when their budgets are limited. There is no publicly documented invisible-budget formula, so judge performance by completed sales rather than assumed thresholds.
Cross-region customers are selling slowly
Move the customer back to the dealer in their own region and compare results over several in-game days. Community reports disagree about how strongly distance affects performance. Local assignment is the safer default, but the exact penalty, if any, is not established by the official notes reviewed.

What changed in current versions?
- Eight slots are outdated: the dealer customer limit was increased from 8 to 10 in the v0.4.3/v0.4.4-era updates. The official dealer-management changes also added customer-region and customer-standard information, improved dealer product-selection logic, and added product reservation for accepted deals. See the official news archive.
- Use the app instead of old static tables: region and standard fields make it easier to verify a customer’s current classification.
- Customer enjoyment changed: official v0.4.5 notes changed product-enjoyment evaluation, so old claims about one perfect recipe should be treated cautiously.
- UI and input changed: v0.4.6 focused on gamepad support and optimization. Its announcement reported a developer-tested 20–30% performance improvement, but exact results vary by hardware and save.
- Special customer groups should not be assumed live: the July 31 update announcement described the special-customer update as still forthcoming. Do not treat bikers, businessmen, hippies, party buses, rock bands, or other traveling customer groups as available unless a later official release note confirms them.
The current official news reviewed for this guide lists v0.4.6f12, posted August 7, 2026. It does not document a later change to the 10-customer dealer system.
Why online customer lists disagree
Customer tables are useful starting points, but several recurring errors make them unsafe as absolute game data:
- Some guides still show the former eight-customer capacity.
- Melissa Wood appears in a Benji list in some coverage despite being associated with the Docks.
- Philip and Phillip Wentworth appear with inconsistent spelling or regional placement.
- Sam Thompson is sometimes placed with Brad despite appearing in Northtown references elsewhere.
- Names vary between Billy Kramer and Billy Cramer, George Greene and George Geene, Herbert Bleuball and Herbert Blueball, Walter Cussler and Walter Crussler, and Peggy Myers and Peggy Meyers.
These discrepancies do not necessarily mean the game has multiple customer rosters; they may reflect updates, transcription errors, or differences between sources. Before assigning a disputed customer, check the region and standard displayed in your current save.
Bottom line
Start with local customers, not a supposedly universal best-customer ranking. Give each dealer low- and mid-spending customers who are tedious to serve, keep premium customers personally when the lost 20% matters more than convenience, and group overlapping effects only when it genuinely simplifies production. Stock dealers separately, reorganize between deal cycles, and test cross-region or pricing theories against your own completed sales. The current 10-slot limit is useful, but filling every slot is not automatically more profitable than keeping the best customers under your own control.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I assign any customer to any dealer in Schedule I?
Use the customers available in the Dealer Management app as the final authority. Cross-region assignments may be possible, but community reports disagree about their effect on travel and sales speed. Assign local customers first, then test any cross-region roster over several in-game days.
Should I give dealers my richest customers?
Usually not if maximum personal profit is your goal. A dealer takes 20% of completed sales, so keep high-spending, convenient customers personally and delegate low-value or inconvenient orders. Give rich customers to dealers when convenience and saved time matter more than the commission.
Do assigned customers still text me directly?
Assigned customers generally stop sending the player their future orders directly. However, a deal accepted before reassignment may remain attached to the player and can expire if ignored.
Do dealers need separate inventory?
Yes. Transfer packaged products into the dealer’s own inventory through the dealer system and verify that the stock is visible there. Products remaining in your main inventory cannot be sold by that dealer.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCan I reassign customers?
Yes, but avoid moving a customer immediately after accepting an order. Finish or track active deals first because existing orders may not transfer automatically.
Does dealer location matter?
Local assignment is the safest practical default because it keeps the dealer near the customers and avoids possible route inefficiency. The exact distance effect is not confirmed, and player testing is conflicting.
Do dealers always use my listed price?
That is unverified and may be version-sensitive. The 20% commission is consistently reported, but community reports disagree about whether dealers use the listed price, recommended price, or customer-specific pricing. Compare actual payouts in your current version.
Why is my dealer not selling?
Check the dealer’s own inventory, product packaging, customer assignments, product suitability, and active deals. Wait through another deal window, then save and restart or remove and re-add inventory to refresh the AI. Reassign customers only after checking that no current order will be lost.

No. Use customer standards, budgets, and preferred effects. A cheap product may suit early-region customers, while Suburbia or Uptown customers may require better quality. Effect grouping can simplify production, but no single recipe is confirmed as universal.
Is assigning ten customers always better than assigning eight?
No. Ten is the current maximum, but the extra two slots add value only if you have enough stock and those customers are worth delegating. A high-value customer may earn more under your direct control than through a dealer.
Are old Schedule I customer lists still accurate?
Use them as starting points only. Older guides may show eight slots, incorrect regions, or variant spellings. The current in-game contacts, region fields, and customer standards should take precedence.
The Bottom Line
Best default: assign nearby low- and mid-spending customers to the dealer in their region, keep the richest easy-to-serve customers personally, and stock each dealer with products that match the roster’s standards, budgets, and preferred effects. Ten slots are available, but convenience—not automatic maximum profit—is what dealers reliably provide.
