Yes, Feed and Grow: Fish can still be modded on a Windows Steam installation, but there is no single modern mod manager that works for every download. The safest current approach is to use a mod’s active Nexus Mods page or the author’s linked GitHub repository, identify whether it is a DLL replacement, a legacy launcher package, or a runtime trainer, and back up the original files before installing it.
As of August 10, 2026, do not follow old videos that recommend AzzaMods as a current solution: AzzaMods says its service closed on June 30, 2026. A useful current example is FeedAndGrowEvolved, whose Nexus page lists version 0.0.6, updated August 6, 2026, and provides instructions for a manual DLL installation.
What you need before installing a mod
- A legitimate, updated Steam copy of Feed and Grow: Fish.
- A Windows PC. The game itself is listed for Windows, while SteamOS compatibility for the unmodified game does not confirm that Windows mod instructions will work under Proton.
- The game launched once without mods.
- Access to the game’s local files.
- A backup of every original file that the mod will replace.
- The mod’s current requirements, installation steps, and uninstall instructions.
Feed and Grow: Fish is Steam app 429050. To open its installation directory, use:
- Open Steam Library.
- Right-click Feed and Grow: Fish.
- Choose Manage and then Browse local files.
This opens the correct game folder regardless of whether your Steam library is on the C: drive. The usual installation root is:

SteamDB lists December 1, 2022 as the latest public Windows content manifest it found. A later SteamDB record update should not be interpreted as a new gameplay or modding update. Check the official Steam listing and SteamDB depot history when checking compatibility.
Where to download Feed and Grow: Fish mods now
Use this order of preference:
- Nexus Mods: Prefer a page with a named author, a recent update date, requirements, a changelog, installation instructions, and an active bug-report or discussion section.
- The author’s GitHub: Use it when the repository is linked from the author’s Nexus page or another clearly official page. GitHub is particularly useful for the README, release history, source code, and recovery instructions.
- Official Steam discussions: These can provide compatibility reports and troubleshooting help, but a discussion post is not automatically a trustworthy download source.
- Established archives: Use older ModDB or IndieDB files only when you specifically need a historical version and can confirm which game build it targets.
Avoid random SEO download pages, repack sites, cracked-game sites, MOD APK pages, and unexplained re-upload mirrors. Do not run an installer or executable simply because an old video links to it. A reputable download should identify the author, list the files being installed, explain where they go, and state how to remove them.
AzzaMods is historical, not a current recommendation
AzzaMods and the game’s built-in launcher are different things. AzzaMods was a separate third-party application that historically downloaded and enabled its own catalog. Its old Feed and Grow: Fish catalog remains visible online, but its support notice says the service closed on June 30, 2026. Old pages and videos may therefore describe a service that is no longer available or supported.
The game’s own FeedAndGrowFishLauncher.exe is different: Steam includes it as part of the game installation and associates it with the legacy Launcher launch option. Do not confuse that executable with AzzaMods.

Can Feed and Grow: Fish be modded?
Yes, with important limitations. The official Steam store marks the game as moddable, and a December 2020 developer announcement described DLL mods, custom maps, scenarios, fish, skins, and a planned Workshop or AssetBundle-based content system. The current Steam files still contain a Mods directory, a ModsNativeAssembly-CSharp.dll file, and a legacy launcher at:
net48FeedAndGrowFishLauncher.exeHowever, the developer’s Workshop discussion described that system as a future plan. The current store page does not document Feed and Grow: Fish as a game with a normal, actively supported Workshop subscription workflow. Do not assume that a search result labeled Workshop is a Feed and Grow distribution method. For example, one prominent old result resolves to a removed Garry’s Mod item, not a current Feed and Grow mod.
The practical reality is community-maintained and fragmented. Some files modify the game’s managed Unity assembly, some use the game’s old launcher, some are trainers that alter the running process, and some are mod-specific content packages. There is no universally safe installation method for all of them.
Identify what kind of mod you downloaded
Read the archive contents and installation section before copying anything. The file names usually reveal the installation model:

Back up the game before changing files
- Close Feed and Grow: Fish.
- In Steam, open the game’s folder with Manage > Browse local files.
- Copy
Feed and Grow_DataManagedAssembly-CSharp.dllto a separate backup folder outside the game directory. - Back up any other file the mod will replace, including
version.dllif one already exists. - Keep the downloaded archive and the mod’s original instructions. Do not rely on memory after a later update.
The safest backup is one made from your own currently installed files. Although SteamDB shows a native assembly under ModsNativeAssembly-CSharp.dll, do not assume that every mod or game build can be repaired simply by copying that file. Your own backup or Steam’s file verification is more reliable.

Before extracting a download, scan it with your security software. Never disable Windows security protections merely to install a mod. If an archive contains an unexplained executable, asks for unusual permissions, or comes from a mirror rather than the author’s page, stop and investigate it first.
How to install a current DLL-based mod
FeedAndGrowEvolved is the clearest current public example of the direct-replacement method. Its Nexus listing identifies version 0.0.6, updated August 6, 2026, and links to the author’s GitHub README. The following procedure applies to that mod because its author gives these paths; it is not a universal procedure for every Feed and Grow download.
Step 1: Close the game and open the Steam folder
Use Steam’s Library > right-click the game > Manage > Browse local files. You should see Feed and Grow.exe and the Feed and Grow_Data folder.

Extract the downloaded archive rather than copying the archive itself. Confirm that the extracted files include the DLLs named in the mod’s instructions. For this example, the relevant files are:

version.dllStep 3: Back up the original assembly
Before overwriting anything, copy the existing file from:
Feed and Grow FishFeed and Grow_DataManagedAssembly-CSharp.dllStore it outside the game directory with a clear name such as Assembly-CSharp.original.dll. If Windows shows a replacement prompt, you should already have this backup.
Step 4: Copy the mod files to the exact locations
Copy the mod’s replacement Assembly-CSharp.dll into:

Step 5: Launch it the way the mod author specifies
For FeedAndGrowEvolved, the author says to launch the game normally through Steam and not through the legacy Feed and Grow launcher. This is important because older guides often tell users to use the Launcher option.

What FeedAndGrowEvolved claims and what it does not guarantee
The mod page describes gameplay changes and unlocked content, and the author makes claims about fixes and creature support. Those are features claimed by the mod author, not changes to the unmodified game and not guarantees that every installation or processor will behave identically.
The page also labels multiplayer as an alpha and lists instability, meat-synchronization problems, and animation desynchronization among its known issues. Treat its multiplayer feature as experimental rather than as a reliable replacement for the base game.
Nexus displays a Safe to use virus-scan label for the page. That label is not an independent code audit and does not guarantee compatibility with every current Steam installation. The linked GitHub repository is also a small project, so it should not be presented as a mature, universally validated mod framework.

How to install a mod that requires the built-in launcher
Use this method only if the individual mod’s instructions specifically mention the game’s launcher or the Mods folder.
- Open the game directory with Steam’s Browse local files command.
- Open or create the mod folder required by the mod, usually under:
Feed and Grow FishMods<mod-specific folder>- Place the mod’s DLL or package in the exact subfolder named by its instructions.
- Start the game using the Steam launch option named Launcher when the mod requires it.
- Choose or enable the mod through the launcher’s available workflow, if the mod’s instructions describe one.
The developer’s legacy announcement explains that the launcher can temporarily rewrite the managed Assembly-CSharp.dll with the version stored in the selected mod folder. That is why this workflow differs from a manual replacement. It is an older, mod-specific system—not an instruction to use the launcher for every modern DLL mod.
SteamDB lists the launcher executable as:
net48FeedAndGrowFishLauncher.exeIf a mod says not to use the launcher, follow that instruction even though the launcher is present in the game’s files.

Should you use WeMod instead?
Use WeMod’s Feed and Grow: Fish trainer only if you want runtime cheats rather than installed content. WeMod describes a Windows application that launches the game and provides toggles such as unlimited health, stamina, damage, movement speed, currency, and experience.
A trainer does not use the manual Assembly-CSharp.dll path above. Do not copy trainer files into Feed and Grow_DataManaged unless the trainer’s own documentation explicitly says to do so. Trainers may also depend on a supported Windows and Steam build and can behave differently after game or trainer updates.

Troubleshooting: when a mod does not work
The game will not launch
- Close the game and Steam completely.
- Remove a newly added
version.dll, unless it replaced a file that you backed up—in that case, restore the backup. - Restore the original
Feed and Grow_DataManagedAssembly-CSharp.dll. - Launch the unmodified game.
- If you did not make a backup, open Steam’s game properties, select Installed Files, and choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Only after the clean game launches should you try one mod again.
Do not install several DLL replacements while troubleshooting. Replacing the same assembly repeatedly makes it difficult to determine which file caused the failure. Steam’s official game technical-support page is the appropriate recovery starting point.
The mod appears to do nothing
- Confirm that the mod supports the Steam Windows build.
- Make sure you extracted the archive and did not leave the files inside an extra nested folder.
- Check that
Assembly-CSharp.dllis inFeed and Grow_DataManaged. - Check that
version.dllis besideFeed and Grow.exe, if the mod requires it. - Check whether the mod requires the built-in Launcher—or specifically says not to use it.
- Make sure the game was closed while you copied the files.
- Remove other DLL mods and trainers while testing.
- Read the mod’s version notes and known issues; an old DLL may simply target a different game build.
Steam restores or replaces the mod
Steam file verification, repairs, and future game changes can replace modified files. Keep the original mod archive and reread its installation instructions after any update. SteamDB’s December 1, 2022 content manifest is useful historical information, but it does not guarantee that every third-party mod remains compatible indefinitely.
Antivirus flags a DLL or launcher
Do not automatically whitelist the file. First confirm all of the following:
- The download came from the author’s Nexus page or a GitHub repository linked by that author.
- The file name and destination match the published instructions.
- The archive and extracted files have been scanned.
- The Nexus scan result and the mod’s issue reports do not show an unresolved problem.
If the file is an unexplained executable from a mirror, delete it instead of bypassing the warning. Even the Nexus Safe to use label should be treated as a platform scan result, not as a guarantee or independent security certification.

Multiplayer compatibility
Assume multiplayer is unverified unless the mod specifically documents it. A DLL that changes game logic can affect networking and may not work with players using different files. FeedAndGrowEvolved’s current page calls its multiplayer feature an unstable alpha and lists synchronization problems, so do not treat it as a dependable multiplayer solution.
Steam Deck and Linux
SteamDB records SteamOS compatibility for the unmodified game, but the verified instructions in this guide are Windows instructions. In particular, version.dll, the .NET Framework 4.8-based legacy launcher, and Windows trainers should not be assumed to work under Proton. Steam Deck installation is a separate, mod-by-mod experiment; check the author’s current support channel rather than copying the Windows procedure blindly.
Telemetry and privacy
FeedAndGrowEvolved’s Nexus description says that it sends anonymous daily-active-user statistics to Supabase. That is the author’s description, not an independently audited privacy assessment. If telemetry matters to you, read the mod’s current README and privacy details before installing it, and do not assume that a mod has the same privacy behavior as the base game.

How to uninstall a DLL mod
- Close Feed and Grow: Fish and Steam.
- Remove
version.dllif the mod added it. If the file existed before installation, restore your backup instead. - Restore your original
Assembly-CSharp.dlltoFeed and Grow_DataManaged. - Launch the unmodified game through Steam.
- If the game still fails or you lack a backup, use Steam’s Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files option.
For a legacy launcher mod, remove only the mod’s folder from Mods and start the normal game. If the launcher changed the managed assembly and the game does not return to normal, restore the backup or verify the files.
