Promised Consort Radahn is the final boss of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. The encounter has two named phases: Promised Consort Radahn in phase one, followed around two-thirds health remaining by Radahn, Consort of Miquella. The fight takes place at the Gate of Divinity in Enir-Ilim, and phase two adds Miquella's holy attacks, delayed light effects, clone assaults, a lethal charm grab, and a final meteor dive.
This guide is written for App Ver. 1.16.1 / Regulation Ver. 1.16.1. Patch 1.14 changed the final boss's opening pattern, several attacks, damage, stamina damage, non-weapon attack range, and effect visibility, so launch-era advice is not always reliable. Later 1.15, 1.16, and 1.16.1 patch notes do not list another Radahn balance adjustment. See the official 1.14 patch notes and current official patch history.
Spoiler warning: the combat guide is followed by a full explanation of Radahn's return, Miquella's vow, Mohg's body, and the unresolved question of whether Radahn truly consented to becoming Miquella's consort.

How to reach Promised Consort Radahn
The final boss is at the top of the last Shadow of the Erdtree Legacy Dungeon. Follow this route:
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn in Caelid and Mohg, Lord of Blood in Mohgwyn Palace. Interact with Miquella's withered arm in Mohg's arena to enter the Realm of Shadow. The base-game prerequisites are summarized in Xbox Wire's DLC access guide.
- Progress through the Realm of Shadow and obtain Messmer's Kindling by defeating Messmer.
- Reach the Ancient Ruins of Rauh and defeat Romina, Saint of the Bud.
- Use Messmer's Kindling on the Sealing Tree after Romina's arena.
- Enter Enir-Ilim and advance through the Legacy Dungeon.
- Rest at the Divine Gate Front Staircase Site of Grace. Climb the stairs and pass through the fog gate to begin the Radahn encounter. The dungeon and arena route are mapped on the Enir-Ilim guide.
Finish NPC quests before burning the Sealing Tree
Burning the Sealing Tree is a major progression event. It can end or alter several Shadow of the Erdtree NPC questlines, including the steps needed for final-boss summon signs. Before using the kindling, finish any relevant dialogue, item collection, invasion, and decision steps for characters whose quests you want to preserve. In particular, helping Leda kill Ansbach prevents his later final-boss summon route; helping Ansbach preserves it. The Ansbach, Leda, and Freyja quest walkthrough covers the decision points.
Preparation that makes the fight manageable
Scadutree Blessing: recommendation, not a requirement
There is no official minimum Scadutree Blessing level for Promised Consort Radahn. The following are practical recommendations rather than rules:
- Blessing 15: possible, but ordinary builds will usually take punishing damage and deal less damage than they would at higher blessing levels.
- Blessing 17–18: a sensible first-clear target for most players. Published coverage has documented clears at Blessing 17.
- Blessing 20: the maximum blessing level and the most forgiving preparation. Reaching it requires all 50 Scadutree Fragments.
Scadutree Blessing affects both the damage you deal and the damage you receive in the Realm of Shadow. If Radahn is killing you in one or two hits despite strong armor and high Vigor, collecting more fragments is often more productive than replacing a weapon. See the Scadutree Fragment location guide and the official Scadutree scaling update.
Vigor, level, and equipment load
Do not treat character level as a hard entry requirement. Level 125–150 is commonly suggested for entering the DLC, but final-boss survivability depends more on Scadutree Blessing, Vigor, defensive equipment, and whether the build has a coherent damage plan.
60 Vigor is a practical recommendation for a normal first clear. Lower-Vigor challenge and optimized builds can win, but they leave less room for mistakes. Aim for a medium roll unless you are intentionally building around a shield tank. Heavy rolling makes the delayed sword strings and phase-two holy aftershocks much harder to learn.
Defense priorities
Radahn deals substantial physical damage in phase one. Miquella's arrival adds enough holy damage in phase two that a setup optimized only for physical defense can suddenly feel ineffective. Consider the following defensive tools:
- Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman: strong general physical protection.
- Golden Braid: holy damage negation, especially useful in phase two.
- Pearldrake Talisman +3: broad elemental defense that includes holy damage.
- Holyproof Dried Liver: temporary holy protection for the second phase.
- Lord's Divine Fortification: a particularly powerful holy-defense option, reported as providing 60% holy negation, but it requires 27 Faith and is a temporary body buff. Do not plan around it if your build cannot meet the requirement.
Do not automatically equip every defensive talisman. Keep enough stamina, equip load, FP, and damage to end the fight before attrition becomes the main threat.
Useful consumables
- Holyproof Dried Liver: use before phase two or during a safe opening if the fight is consistently lost to holy damage.
- Uplifting Aromatic: gives a temporary defensive buffer that can help absorb one major burst. It is helpful, not mandatory.
- Opaline Hardtear: include it in the Flask of Wondrous Physick for additional damage mitigation.
- Boiled Crab: useful for phase-one physical defense if your build can use it alongside its other buffs.
- Hefty Rot Pots: an option for players deliberately using Scarlet Rot as part of their damage plan.
- Miquella's Great Rune: put it in a quick-access slot. It is the answer to the charm status from Miquella's grab.
Radahn's weaknesses and resistances
The word weakness needs care here. Radahn is not a fragile boss, and “weak to Bleed” does not mean that Bleed builds up easily. Database values for the default encounter list high status resistance and a lower physical negation against Pierce than against the other listed physical types.
| Property | Default listed value | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| HP | 46,134 | Database value for the default encounter; scaling can change the result. |
| Poise / stance | 120 | Heavy attacks, jumping attacks, charged attacks, and sustained pressure can still create stance opportunities. |
| Critical hit | Yes | Radahn can be critically hit after a stance break. |
| Parry | Yes | Generally, three successful parries are needed before a critical opening. |
| Physical negation | Pierce: 20; Standard, Slash, Strike: 40 | Pierce is the most favorable listed physical damage type. This is a lower negation, not proof that the boss is easy to kill with any Pierce weapon. |
| Elemental negation | Magic, Fire, Lightning, Holy: 40 | Holy is not a raw-damage weakness. Phase two is particularly dangerous because Miquella adds holy effects to the encounter. |
| Status resistance | Poison, Scarlet Rot, Blood, Frost: 252 | These statuses work, but repeated buildup or a dedicated status build is usually needed. |
| Immunities | Sleep, Madness, Death Blight | Do not waste equipment slots or consumables trying to apply these effects. |
These values are default encounter/database values, not a promise that New Game Plus, co-op, or every difficulty condition uses identical numbers. The data is compiled in the Gamer Guides boss database, with additional status information in Game8's boss guide.
What damage and status strategies are actually viable?
Pierce: spears, great spears, thrusting swords, and heavy thrusting swords benefit from Radahn's lower listed Pierce negation. This is especially convenient for shield-poke builds.

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallBleed: remains practical because a successful Hemorrhage proc removes a percentage of the boss's health. However, the 252 listed Blood resistance means that an unoptimized weapon will not necessarily proc quickly.
Scarlet Rot: is particularly useful in phase one, especially when applied through Rot Pots or a weapon such as Antspur Rapier. Rot, Frostbite, Poison, and Bleed can all be workable, but do not assume that phase-one buildup carries cleanly through the transition; status progress can be affected or reset as the phase changes.
No single status is universally strongest for every build or patch. Use the status that your attributes, weapon upgrades, affinity, and attack speed can apply consistently.
Choose a strategy that matches your build
Greatshield and thrusting weapon: the safest broad route
A high-guard greatshield paired with a spear, great spear, thrusting sword, or heavy thrusting sword lets you attack while guarding. This reduces the precision needed for many phase-one sword strings and gives you a reliable way to keep damage going while staying close.
Antspur Rapier is a popular choice because it carries Scarlet Rot. Depending on your build, its infusion or Ash of War can be used to add another status such as Bleed or Frost. The exact affinity should match your attributes rather than being copied blindly from another build.
Shield-poke is not a free win. In phase two, Miquella's holy effects cause chip damage and Radahn's pressure can drain stamina quickly. Release the guard between combos to recover stamina, avoid attacking when the stamina bar is nearly empty, and do not remain behind the shield through every delayed holy effect. A shield with excellent physical block but poor holy defense may still leave you vulnerable in the second phase.
Bleed, Rot, or other status melee
Fast weapons and repeated Pierce attacks can apply status while taking advantage of Radahn's physical defenses. A status strategy works best when the weapon is upgraded, the relevant attribute is high enough to give meaningful buildup, and you understand when you can safely stay in range.
Do not chase a status proc through an unsafe combo. The boss's high resistance means missed attacks can cost more health than the eventual proc saves. Use Rot Pots or a second weapon if your main weapon cannot apply the desired status safely.

Parrying
Most of Radahn's ordinary sword attacks can be parried, but effect-heavy attacks, gravity moves, and magical follow-ups should not automatically be treated as parry opportunities. Three successful parries are generally required before he becomes open to a critical hit.
This is a high-risk, high-reward route. It is appropriate for players who already recognize the sword timings, not a shortcut for someone dying to the opener. Keep a conventional dodge plan for phase two because Miquella's beams, clones, ring, grab, and meteor are not solved by parrying ordinary sword swings.
Spirit Ashes and Mimic Tear
Mimic Tear is the most generally useful Spirit Ash because it can draw aggro and use a copy of your equipment. Its behavior is not perfectly reliable, and it should not be expected to heal or choose attacks optimally.
- If Radahn immediately closes the distance, dodge the opening attack before summoning. Trying to summon while standing in the opener is an easy way to lose most of your health or die.
- If Mimic Tear dies during phase one, consider waiting and summoning at the beginning of phase two instead. You can use the phase transition's movement and visual disruption to create the necessary space.
- Remove unnecessary quick-item options if you are trying to reduce the chance of Mimic Tear wasting actions. This can influence its behavior, but does not guarantee perfect decisions.
- In solo play, a Spirit Ash can be used alongside available NPC summons. It cannot be used alongside actual multiplayer phantoms.
Ranged and caster builds
Radahn's aggression makes long, stationary casts unreliable. Cast after a completed combo, from a safe distance created by a summon, or during a clearly identified recovery. Keep enough FP for phase two rather than spending the entire bar trying to rush phase one.
Quick-cast spells, status projectiles, and a shield can be more useful than relying exclusively on long-animation sorceries or incantations. Do not heal, buff, or begin a long cast while Radahn is at mid-range with his swords raised; he can cross the arena before the animation finishes. Holy defense matters even more for casters because Miquella's attacks are the major new damage source in phase two.
NPC summons: Ansbach and Thiollier
The two principal NPC allies for the final fight are Sir Ansbach and Thiollier. Their gold summon signs appear outside the arena when the relevant quest conditions are satisfied. Ansbach must survive the Leda confrontation, and Thiollier's quest must be progressed far enough for his sign to become available. The quest requirements and edge cases are detailed in Game8's summon guide and the PowerPyx quest walkthrough.
Summoning an NPC increases the fight's effective difficulty through additional boss health or scaling. That creates a genuine trade-off:
- Why summon: Ansbach and Thiollier create extra targets, can split Radahn's attention, and give a melee player more opportunities to heal, apply status, or attack from the flank. Their presence also provides quest-related context.
- Why skip them: their damage may be modest, and the additional health can make the fight longer. A player who already deals high solo damage may find that the extra phase-two duration causes more deaths than the NPCs prevent.
There is no universally correct choice. Summon them if you need aggro separation or want their quest content. Skip them if you can reliably reach phase two alone and the extra health is turning a short fight into an endurance test. Their signs being available does not mean you must use them.

Phase one: Promised Consort Radahn
Phase one is the same fundamental fight that phase two later amplifies: fast swords, delayed timing, gravity attacks, and punishes for retreating in a straight line. The phase transition occurs at approximately two-thirds of Radahn's health remaining. Guides disagree on whether the trigger is closer to 60%, 65%, or 70%, so do not plan around an exact percentage.
The opening gravity dive
Patch 1.14 changed the battle's starting action pattern. Launch guides that insist Radahn always begins with one specific opener are outdated. Keep him targeted, watch the opening animation, and be ready for the gravity dive or another immediate approach.
For the gravity dive, roll toward or through the landing rather than panic-rolling backward. Do not attack automatically after the first impact: the dive can chain into another slam or sword action. The first priority is surviving the opening and establishing a close, controlled position.
Basic sword strings and delayed swings
Radahn's delayed swings are designed to catch players who roll at a fixed rhythm. Roll through the first swing and toward his flank, then wait for delayed final hits instead of repeating the same roll timing. Rolling backward often leaves you inside the reach of the next sword or ground effect.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The safest punish is usually one or two attacks after the final hit of a completed combo. Do not treat the first apparent gap as permission to commit to a long weapon animation. If you are using a greatshield, keep the shield raised for the dangerous sequence, then lower it as soon as the combo is finished to recover stamina.
Cross slash
The quick cross slash is one of the most dangerous ordinary sword attacks because being hit can trap you into subsequent attacks. Treat it as a major danger rather than trying to trade. A well-timed roll through it is ideal; a shield is a legitimate answer if you do not yet have the timing, provided you have enough stamina and guard stability.
Gravity pull
When Radahn releases the gravity wave, roll as it reaches you. If you are caught, immediately prioritize escaping the follow-up ground explosion. Do not attack simply because the pull has finished; the slam may follow almost immediately.
Gravity rocks
When Radahn launches upward with rocks orbiting him, strafe or roll sideways as the rocks approach. Keep tracking him because the projectile sequence can be followed by a dive or slam. Avoid trying to punish the rocks if doing so leaves you directly beneath the landing.

The Mohg-derived body gives this version of Radahn a bloodflame-associated attack. Roll through the sword attack, then continue moving away from the delayed bloodflame explosion. The visual sword recovery is not necessarily a safe opening; wait until the trail has finished before committing to an attack.
How to deal damage safely in phase one
- Stay near Radahn's side rather than always retreating to the edge of the arena.
- Use jumping attacks, charged attacks, or heavy thrusts when you have a real recovery window, not during a string.
- Keep your camera and target lock stable, but unlock if the camera is being forced into the ground during a large attack.
- Save some healing, FP, and defensive consumables for phase two.
- Do not deliberately push him into the phase transition while standing in front of an active gravity or bloodflame effect.
Phase two: Radahn, Consort of Miquella
At around two-thirds health remaining, Miquella appears on Radahn's back and the boss name changes to Radahn, Consort of Miquella. This is not a separate third boss. The low-health meteor is an additional phase-two move, not a separately named phase.
Phase two retains the phase-one sword and gravity attacks but adds holy aftershocks, light beams, clone attacks, a large ring, Miquella's grab, and the transition and low-health light attacks. The key adjustment is to stop treating a sword combo as finished when Radahn's physical swings end: delayed holy effects may still be coming.
Transition attack: Miquella's Light
As Radahn rises and Miquella's light gathers, stop attacking. Sprint away from the initial large circle and keep moving until the delayed smaller holy strikes end. Distance and continuous movement are generally safer than trying to roll the entire explosion on reaction.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteKeep Radahn in view while running. He can close the distance during the light sequence, and returning to the arena edge without tracking him can leave you facing an immediate sword attack. Re-engage only after the light effects finish.
Holy aftershocks on ordinary combos
Many phase-one strings gain delayed holy strikes. Rolling backward from the sword sequence can place you directly into the aftershock. Prefer rolling forward or diagonally through Radahn, especially toward his right side. If the camera is oriented with Radahn facing you, this generally means moving toward the player's left while rolling through him.
Learn the timing of the final holy flash separately from the physical sword rhythm. A successful dodge is worth more than an extra attack that forces you to heal through the aftershock.
Clone rush
When Radahn sends light clones toward you, roll sideways for each clone rather than retreating in a straight line. After the clones, roll through Radahn's final physical strike and remain alert for delayed beams that follow the apparent end of the attack.
If you avoid the full sequence, the recovery can be one of phase two's safer punish windows. Do not attack after the first clone simply because the boss appears to have disappeared; the physical strike and beams are still part of the same attack.
Holy ring
When Radahn crosses or raises his glowing swords and releases a large ring of holy energy, roll through the ring rather than away from it. Avoid healing or consuming items at mid-range until the animation has clearly committed and you understand the timing.
This ring is not the same as the larger, multi-stage transition or low-health Light of Miquella attack. The visual effects are bright, so use the sword posture and expanding ring to identify the move rather than waiting for the arena to become completely illuminated.
The Promised Consort combo
This long, holy-enhanced sword sequence is best handled by staying close instead of retreating directly backward. Roll through Radahn's right side; when facing him, that is generally toward the player's left. The final airborne slam lands later than the preceding rhythm suggests, so delay the last roll.

Miquella's grab and the stolen-heart death
Radahn glows and lunges when Miquella attempts the grab. The first successful grab charms the player but does not immediately kill them. If the player is grabbed a second time while still charmed, Miquella steals their heart and the result is instant death.
Miquella's Great Rune can remove the charm after the first grab and prevent the second-grab death. It is obtained by defeating the Scadutree Avatar. Put the rune in a quick-access slot before entering the arena; searching through menus after the first grab is usually too slow. The safest solution remains avoiding the grab, but the rune gives you a recovery option when the attack catches you.
Final meteor
At low health, Radahn can launch into the sky and return as a meteor-like impact. Sprint away from the takeoff area. Do not assume that the entire explosion can be safely rolled on reaction: continue creating distance and reserve a dodge for the landing impact if necessary.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Circlet of Light
The Circlet of Light grants +1 Intelligence, +1 Faith, and +1 Arcane. It also increases the power of the Light of Miquella incantation. The item and spell reflect the division of the encounter's rewards between Miquella's divine project and Radahn's role as consort. See the Circlet of Light reference and the Light of Miquella entry.

If the opening kills you immediately
- Raise your Scadutree Blessing and Vigor before changing your entire build.
- Check that you are medium rolling rather than heavy rolling.
- Dodge the opener before summoning if Radahn immediately closes the distance.
- Roll toward or through the gravity landing instead of panic-rolling backward.
- Do not attack after the first impact until you know whether another slam follows.
If phase one is easy but phase two is impossible
- Replace a damage talisman with Golden Braid or another holy-defense option.
- Use Lord's Divine Fortification if your build has the 27 Faith requirement.
- Save your Spirit Ash for phase two if it dies too early in the fight.
- Stop rolling backward through sword strings; roll forward or diagonally through Radahn.
- Sprint away from the opening Light of Miquella instead of trying to roll the whole sequence.
- Put Miquella's Great Rune in a quick slot.
- Learn one or two reliable punish windows instead of attacking after every combo.
If you keep running out of stamina behind a greatshield
Release the guard between strings, avoid blocking attacks that can be rolled safely, and never begin a shield poke with an almost-empty stamina bar. Phase-two holy chip damage and repeated blocks make permanent turtling unsafe. Consider a shield with stronger elemental or holy protection if physical attacks are manageable but the light effects are not.
If the grab keeps killing you
Watch for the glow and forward lunge rather than reacting to Miquella's appearance alone. If you are grabbed once, immediately use Miquella's Great Rune to remove the charm. Do not allow a second grab while the charm remains active.
If you reach the meteor and die at the finish line
Stop attacking when Radahn launches. Sprint away from the takeoff area, continue moving through the explosion, and reserve a dodge for the landing. Keep enough stamina for that final movement instead of spending the entire bar on a last attack.
If Ansbach or Thiollier's summon signs are missing
The signs are conditional, not automatic. Burning the Sealing Tree too early can prevent relevant quest progression. Ansbach must survive the Leda confrontation, while Thiollier's quest must be advanced to its final-boss state. Their summon signs and quest rewards are separate: you can preserve a quest route without necessarily summoning the NPC for the fight.
If phase two has severe performance problems on PC
Bandai Namco's patch notes have documented unstable PC performance and cases where ray tracing was unintentionally enabled. Open System → Graphics → Ray Tracing Quality and verify that ray tracing is disabled if your hardware is struggling. Also apply the current update and verify game files through your platform when appropriate. A frame-time problem is especially dangerous in phase two because delayed holy effects and clone attacks depend on readable timing. Check the official 1.16 notes and the 1.14 notes for the documented performance context.
Promised Consort Radahn lore explained
Warning: this section explains the ending of Shadow of the Erdtree.
Who is this version of Radahn?
This is Radahn after the events of the base game, but he is not the rot-maddened Starscourge fought in Caelid. Miquella's plan places Radahn's soul in a new vessel made from the remains of Mohg, Lord of Blood. The body therefore looks like Radahn while retaining visual connections to Mohg, including Omen-like horns and bloodflame-associated attacks. The boss identity and the relationship between Radahn, Miquella, and Mohg are summarized in the Radahn, Consort of Miquella entry.
“Radahn in his prime” is useful player shorthand, but it is not a precise in-game technical designation. A more accurate description is a restored or returned Radahn placed in a new vessel. The game does not present him as simply recovering his original Caelid body.
Why did Miquella choose Radahn?
The Remembrance of a God and a Lord says that, in childhood, Miquella saw Radahn as a lord because of his strength and kindness. Those qualities contrasted with the afflictions suffered by Miquella and Malenia. Miquella therefore wished for Radahn to become his king consort.
The choice is also thematically important. Radahn represents overwhelming martial strength and the ability to hold back the stars, while Miquella represents a new divine order built around compassion. The final boss is the culmination of that pairing: Radahn provides the physical and military force, while Miquella adds the holy power and promised Age of Compassion. The Remembrance text is collected in the Remembrance of a God and a Lord entry.

What was the vow?
Redmane Freyja's questline reveals that Miquella made a vow with General Radahn. The Young Lion's Helm connects the vow to the Battle of Aeonia, stating that Malenia whispered to Radahn that Miquella awaited him as promised consort.
The final memory reinforces that Miquella intended Radahn to be his consort, but it does not give a complete account of the vow's terms or show Radahn clearly accepting it in his own words. Freyja's interpretation and the vow's context appear in the Redmane Freyja quest material and the Young Lion's Helm description.
Did Radahn consent, or did Miquella brainwash him?
The most accurate answer is that the game leaves this ambiguous. It establishes enough evidence for several interpretations, but not enough to make either extreme canon.
Confirmed by the game:
- Miquella wanted Radahn as his king consort.
- The story refers to a vow between Miquella and Radahn.
- Miquella's followers understand Radahn's return as the fulfillment of that vow.
- Miquella possesses charm-related powers and has influenced or manipulated other characters.
- Miquella's plan uses Mohg's remains as the vessel for Radahn's soul.
Not confirmed:
- The game never gives Radahn a clear spoken acceptance of the consort arrangement.
- It does not explicitly state that Miquella charmed Radahn before the Battle of Aeonia.
- It does not conclusively establish whether the final battle is voluntary, compelled, or the result of a vow whose terms are unknown.
That means both “Radahn definitely volunteered” and “Miquella definitely brainwashed Radahn” go beyond the evidence. Miquella's powers make coercion a reasonable interpretation, while the vow and the actions of his followers support the possibility that Radahn agreed at some point. The text deliberately leaves the nature of Radahn's consent unresolved. Miquella's background and the Mohg-vessel explanation are discussed in Miquella's lore entry.
Why is Mohg's body used?
Sir Ansbach explains that Miquella used Mohg's body as the vessel for his king consort after exploiting Mohg to gain access to the Land of Shadow. In practical terms, Radahn's original body was unavailable after the events of the base game, while Mohg's remains provided a vessel suitable for Miquella's plan.
This is why the boss combines Radahn's recognizable weapons and gravity powers with Mohg-like horns and bloodflame effects. The body is not a random disguise: it is part of the mechanism by which Miquella brings the promised consort into the Shadow Realm.
What did Miquella want to create?
Miquella intended to establish an Age of Compassion, associated with his return to godhood and union with a king consort. The final fight shows the beginning of that project, but the player defeats Miquella and Radahn before the new age can begin.
There is no separate playable Miquella ending unlocked by winning. The post-boss memory expands the story and confirms the importance of the vow; it does not replace the base game's endings or create a new choice at the end of the DLC.

What launch-era guides get wrong
- Fixed opener advice: patch 1.14 changed the opening action pattern, so a guide insisting on one universal launch attack is unreliable.
- Old hitbox expectations: 1.14 also adjusted final-boss balance, including attack behavior, damage, stamina damage, non-weapon attack range, and visibility of effects.
- Exact transition percentages: published sources disagree on 60%, 65%, and 70%. Use around two-thirds health remaining rather than treating one number as exact.
- “Weak to Bleed”: Radahn has high status resistance. Bleed and Rot are viable because of their effects, not because the boss has unusually low status thresholds.
- NPC summons always help: they split aggro but also increase effective boss health and can prolong the fight.
- Three phases: the game presents two named phases. The meteor is a low-health phase-two move.
- Definitive consent claims: the vow is confirmed, but Radahn's willingness or coercion is not settled.

No. Starscourge Radahn is the base-game boss in Caelid. Promised Consort Radahn is the final Shadow of the Erdtree encounter at the Gate of Divinity in Enir-Ilim, using Radahn's soul in a vessel made from Mohg's remains.
What is Promised Consort Radahn weak to?
Pierce has the lowest listed physical negation in the default database values, at 20 compared with 40 for Standard, Slash, and Strike. Bleed, Scarlet Rot, Frost, and Poison are also viable, but their listed resistance is high at 252, so status buildup is not easy.
When does Radahn's second phase begin?
The name changes to Radahn, Consort of Miquella at approximately two-thirds of his health remaining. Published guides disagree on the exact trigger, so do not rely on an exact 60%, 65%, or 70% figure.
Can I use both a Spirit Ash and Ansbach or Thiollier?
Yes, in solo play you can use a Spirit Ash alongside available NPC summons. You cannot use Spirit Ashes while actual multiplayer phantoms are present. NPC summons increase the fight's effective health or scaling, so extra aggro does not always make the battle easier.

How do I survive Miquella's grab?
Avoid the glowing lunge. If the first grab succeeds, use Miquella's Great Rune to remove the charm before a second grab. A second grab while charmed causes the instant-death heart-stolen outcome. The Great Rune comes from the Scadutree Avatar.
Does the game confirm that Radahn was brainwashed?
No. The game confirms Miquella's desire for Radahn, a vow between them, and Miquella's charm powers, but it never explicitly says Radahn was charmed before the Battle of Aeonia or clearly states whether he accepted the arrangement. His consent remains unresolved.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: prepare for two different damage profiles: physical pressure in phase one and heavy holy pressure in phase two. A Scadutree Blessing of 17–18, 60 Vigor, medium roll, holy-defense equipment, and a patient punish-based strategy are practical targets. A greatshield and thrusting weapon is the safest broadly useful setup, while Bleed, Rot, parrying, Spirit Ashes, NPC allies, and casting can all work when matched to the player's build. In the lore, Miquella's vow and use of Mohg's body are established; whether Radahn freely consented is not.
