Wordle answer for May 5, 2025
The answer is SHUSH.
To shush someone is to tell them to be quiet or to quiet them down. Shush can also be used on its own as an interjection—for example, “Shush, the exam has started.” That makes it fit the library and examination-room clues particularly closely.
The spelling also explains the repeated-letter hint: S appears twice and H appears twice, producing the pattern S-H-U-S-H. Contemporary Wordle coverage also describes the term as an imitative word derived from the sound “shhh,” with usage recorded from the nineteenth century. PC Gamer’s Wordle report provides that additional word-history context.

How to handle a difficult Wordle without giving away the answer
If you had not yet seen the solution, the safest approach was to use the hints in order rather than jumping straight to the answer:
- Start with the situation: a request for quiet narrows the meaning before you spend guesses on random letters.
- Use an early guess to test common vowels and consonants, then use the colored results to eliminate possibilities.
- When a clue suggests repeated letters, do not assume every letter in the answer must be different. Wordle can use a letter more than once, even when an earlier guess has not made that obvious.
- If you have identified a likely meaning but are uncertain about the spelling, avoid rushing a guess. A short break can make it easier to see the missing letter pattern.
There is no need to rely on a particular starting word or a claimed WordleBot score here: opening guesses, puzzle modes, and solving results vary by player. The useful lesson from this puzzle is to combine semantic clues with duplicate-letter possibilities instead of treating the five answer positions as five entirely different letters.
