Who is Bloody Finger Hunter Yura?
Yura is a human warrior from the Land of Reeds, recognizable by his ronin-style clothing and long katana. He describes himself as a hunter of Bloody Fingers: Tarnished who have surrendered themselves to bloodlust and serve the blood-oriented power associated with Mohg, Lord of Blood.
His role is larger than that of a recurring summon. Yura teaches the player how the game’s invasion encounters work while gradually revealing that his hunt is personal. He recognizes Bloody Finger Nerijus by name and has pursued Eleonora, Violet Bloody Finger, a woman he knew before she became consumed by the Bloody Finger path. The game strongly implies that Yura cared for Eleonora, although it never gives a complete, explicit account of their relationship. That uncertainty is important: the tragedy comes through his words and actions rather than a conventional biography.
For the detailed encounter sequence, see the Yura reference page.
Yura questline: every location and step
1. Find Yura beneath the Seaside Ruins in Limgrave
Yura’s first location is beneath a ruin near the Seaside Ruins, south of Agheel Lake in Limgrave. Speak with him to hear his warning about Flying Dragon Agheel.
You can optionally return to Yura after dealing with Agheel. He can discuss Dragon Communion and point you toward the Church of Dragon Communion on the island west of the lake. These Agheel conversations add context, but they are not required for the later Bloody Finger encounters. If you do not find Yura here early, his later quest steps can still be available depending on your progression.
2. Help Yura defeat Bloody Finger Nerijus
Travel north through the ravine toward Murkwater Cave. As you approach the cave, Bloody Finger Nerijus invades your world.
- Enter or approach the Murkwater Cave area until Nerijus invades.
- Stay in the area while the invasion is active.
- Yura eventually appears to assist you.
- Defeat Nerijus and collect the reward he drops.
Nerijus drops Reduvia, a dagger that inflicts blood loss. Yura is primarily the narrative and cooperative reward at this stage; he does not give you a separate weapon for winning the encounter.
This fight establishes the pattern that defines Yura’s story. He knows the Bloody Fingers he hunts, recognizes Nerijus by name, and treats the invasion as another stage in an ongoing campaign rather than an isolated attack. Nerijus is connected to the wider Bloody Finger network serving Mohg, Lord of Blood, making this early Limgrave encounter a small-scale introduction to a larger faction.
3. Assist Yura against the Ravenmount Assassin in Liurnia
After reaching Liurnia of the Lakes, go to the Main Academy Gate area of Raya Lucaria. Look for a red summon sign associated with Yura on the bridge area.
Interact with the sign to be summoned into an invasion encounter against Bloody Finger Ravenmount Assassin. This is different from Nerijus’s attack: instead of waiting for an invader to enter your world, you join Yura’s hunt through a summon sign.
- Reach the Main Academy Gate Site of Grace and inspect the nearby bridge.
- Activate Yura’s red summon sign.
- Defeat Bloody Finger Ravenmount Assassin.
- Return to the bridge and speak with Yura.
Yura rewards you with Smithing Stone [5]. The encounter also reinforces his function as an anti-invader NPC: the player is no longer merely surviving invasions but actively participating in Yura’s vendetta.
4. Meet Yura at the Second Church of Marika
In the Altus Plateau, travel to the Second Church of Marika. Yura is found there mortally wounded. Speak with him to advance the quest and hear his final exchange before Eleonora arrives.

Shortly afterward, Eleonora, Violet Bloody Finger, invades. Defeat her to receive:
- Eleonora’s Poleblade
- Purifying Crystal Tear
The church also contains a Sacred Tear, so the location has a useful reward even if you are visiting primarily for the NPC quest.
Yura’s Nagakiba can be collected around this quest-state outcome, depending on what you have already done and whether you killed him earlier. The exact pickup location can therefore vary. If you want the weapon, search the area and check the relevant Yura quest location before leaving.

Why the Eleonora encounter matters
Eleonora is not simply the next red phantom on a checklist. Yura previously knew her, later pursued her as a Bloody Finger, and reaches the end of his hunt while still trying to call her back from the blood that has consumed her. His concern suggests personal attachment as well as duty, but the game leaves the precise nature of that attachment implicit.
The scene gives Yura’s quest its emotional resolution: he begins as a guarded protector warning you about danger, becomes a temporary ally against other hunters, and dies pursuing someone he could not save. His language about “cessblood” also connects the personal story to the broader themes of blood addiction, Mohg, and the loss of identity.
5. Find Shabriri near the Zamor Ruins
Major ending-related spoiler: Once you reach the Mountaintops of the Giants, Yura’s personal quest is effectively over. Near the Zamor Ruins Site of Grace, you encounter Shabriri inhabiting Yura’s body.
Shabriri is not Yura transformed, resurrected, or continuing his quest. He is a separate entity using Yura’s body as a vessel. The familiar appearance creates deliberate discomfort: Yura’s physical form remains, but the person speaking through it is now advocating an entirely different path.

Shabriri urges you to seek the Three Fingers and inherit the Frenzied Flame. His argument presents that choice as an alternative to sacrificing Melina at the Forge of the Giants. This is Shabriri’s ideology, not Yura’s final decision.
If you kill Shabriri, you can obtain the Ronin’s Set. If you inherit the Frenzied Flame, the set can later be found where Shabriri stood. Killing Yura earlier does not give you the Ronin’s Set; the armor is tied to the later Shabriri/Yura-body sequence.
Yura quest rewards at a glance
| Reward | How to obtain it | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Reduvia | Defeat Bloody Finger Nerijus near Murkwater Cave. | A blood-loss dagger; it is dropped by Nerijus, not Yura. |
| Smithing Stone [5] | Assist Yura against Bloody Finger Ravenmount Assassin near the Main Academy Gate. | Upgrades standard weapons at the appropriate tier. |
| Nagakiba | Obtain it through Yura’s death/quest-state outcome, or by killing Yura at an appropriate earlier stage. | Yura’s long katana and a strong option for reach-focused katana builds. |
| Eleonora’s Poleblade | Defeat Eleonora at the Second Church of Marika. | A unique twinblade associated with bleed and arcane-focused builds. |
| Purifying Crystal Tear | Defeat Eleonora at the Second Church of Marika. | Useful for the encounter associated with Mohg, Lord of Blood. |
| Ronin’s Set | Kill Shabriri near Zamor Ruins, or collect it from his later location if you inherit the Frenzied Flame. | Yura’s recognizable ronin armor; it is not an early-Yura kill reward. |
The Second Church of Marika reference documents the church’s Sacred Tear and Eleonora’s rewards, while the Ronin’s Set entry clarifies why the armor is connected to Shabriri’s later state.
Can you get Yura’s Nagakiba without doing the quest?
Yes. Yura can be killed at an appropriate early stage to obtain the Nagakiba, but doing so ends his NPC storyline and removes the later invasion-assistance encounters and their rewards. If you want both the weapon and the full questline, follow Yura through the Second Church of Marika instead of killing him immediately.
The weapon’s final pickup position depends on the quest state. If you have completed or advanced the relevant step, check Yura’s last known location and the Second Church of Marika area. If you kill him early, the Nagakiba is obtained from that encounter rather than from the later story outcome.
Does killing Yura give you the Ronin’s Set?
No. Killing Yura before Shabriri possesses his body gives you the Nagakiba, not the Ronin’s Set. The armor becomes available during the Mountaintops sequence involving Shabriri near Zamor Ruins.

- Perfect Striking Addition Decor - Ideal for gaming rooms, bedrooms,or any interior seeking dramatic medieval flair.
- Premium Canvas Quality – Printed in high resolution on durable canvas for long-lasting color and texture.

- Uplifting Gift - A great choice for friends, families, game lovers, fantasy fans, and anyone who enjoys charm and expressive gaming art.
This distinction matters because Yura’s displayed equipment and Shabriri’s later appearance can make the rewards seem interchangeable. They are not: the Nagakiba belongs to Yura’s weapon outcome, while the Ronin’s Set is tied to Shabriri’s use of Yura’s body.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What does Yura’s quest teach about ELDEN RING?
It is an invasion tutorial disguised as a character story
Yura introduces several invasion-related systems in sequence: an enemy Bloody Finger invades your world near Murkwater, Yura arrives as a cooperative ally, and later you use a red summon sign to join his hunt in another world. The mechanics are not presented as an isolated tutorial window; they are embedded in a recurring relationship.

Yura treats Bloody Fingers as Tarnished who have been enslaved by “cessblood.” Eleonora represents the danger of surrendering to that power, while Nerijus connects the local encounters to Mohg’s wider blood cult. The quest therefore foreshadows later blood-related areas and conflicts without requiring the player to understand the entire faction immediately.
The body is not the person
Shabriri’s use of Yura’s body is one of the game’s starkest examples of physical identity being separated from personal identity. The clothing, silhouette, and recognizable form preserve the memory of Yura while the voice and goal belong to someone else. That distinction is essential when interpreting the Mountaintops scene: Shabriri’s Frenzied Flame argument should not be read as Yura’s hidden plan.
Recommended order and missable-reward checklist
- Speak with Yura beneath the Seaside Ruins in Limgrave.
- Optionally defeat Agheel and return to Yura for Dragon Communion dialogue.
- Defeat Bloody Finger Nerijus near Murkwater Cave.
- Activate Yura’s red summon sign near the Main Academy Gate.
- Defeat Bloody Finger Ravenmount Assassin and collect Smithing Stone [5].
- Visit the Second Church of Marika in Altus Plateau.
- Defeat Eleonora and collect Eleonora’s Poleblade and Purifying Crystal Tear.
- Check the area for the Nagakiba according to your quest state.
- In the Mountaintops, visit Shabriri near Zamor Ruins.
- Kill Shabriri for the Ronin’s Set, or return to the location later if you inherit the Frenzied Flame.
Do not kill Yura early if your priority is the complete story, the Ravenmount encounter, Eleonora’s sequence, and the later Shabriri scene. Conversely, an early kill is a straightforward way to obtain the Nagakiba if you are building around that weapon and do not need the questline.
Yura’s equipment and combat details
Yura is associated with the Nagakiba and the Ronin’s Set. The weapon item is associated with the Piercing Fang Ash of War, while Yura’s NPC combat behavior uses Impaling Thrust. These are not necessarily the same thing: an NPC’s combat moveset should not be treated as proof that the character performs every skill available on the corresponding player weapon.
Recommended Free Tools
For players, the Nagakiba’s unusually long reach makes it attractive for katana builds, while Eleonora’s Poleblade serves a different role as a unique twinblade with a blood-focused identity. The Purifying Crystal Tear is a utility reward rather than a direct Yura weapon upgrade, and its most notable application is in the Mohg-related encounter.
Is Yura in Shadow of the Erdtree or Nightreign?
The quest described here belongs to the 2022 base game of ELDEN RING. The available documentation for this character does not establish a separate Yura questline in Shadow of the Erdtree or ELDEN RING Nightreign. His complete story is found in the original Lands Between progression outlined above.
Further reading for a full playthrough
Yura’s events intersect with several regions, invasions, weapons, and ending-related choices. Readers following the entire base game may find an Elden Ring official strategy guide useful for cross-checking region progression and other NPC questlines; it covers the whole game rather than Yura alone.
For visual and lore-focused readers, the Elden Ring official art book is a natural companion to Yura’s character profile because it focuses on the game’s characters, equipment, and setting design rather than functioning as a step-by-step walkthrough.

The detailed locations, dialogue sequence, quest rewards, and item-state distinctions in this article are based on the maintained Bloody Finger Hunter Yura reference, with related information from the Shabriri reference, the Bloody Finger Nerijus reference, the Second Church of Marika reference, and the Ronin’s Set reference. Yura’s feelings toward Eleonora are presented as an interpretation strongly implied by the dialogue, not as a fully documented official biography.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get the Nagakiba without completing Yura’s quest?
Yes, but killing him early ends his questline. You receive the Nagakiba through that outcome, while the later Ravenmount Assassin encounter, Yura dialogue, and Eleonora sequence are lost.
Does killing Yura give the Ronin’s Set?
No. The Ronin’s Set is tied to Shabriri inhabiting Yura’s body near the Zamor Ruins in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Killing Yura early does not give you the armor.
Is Shabriri actually Yura?
No. Shabriri is a separate entity using Yura’s body as a vessel. The familiar body does not mean Yura survived or became Shabriri.
The Bottom Line
Follow Yura from Limgrave to the Second Church of Marika if you want his complete tragic storyline and its rewards. The Nagakiba can be obtained through an early kill or the later quest state, but the Ronin’s Set requires the separate Shabriri encounter in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
