You will need a legitimate game license, a compatible 64-bit Windows PC, at least 100 GB of available storage, and—depending on the storefront—a linked EA Account and the EA app.
FC 26 is not a permanently free Windows download. The standard worldwide launch took place on September 26, 2025; Ultimate Edition and EA Play Pro PC access began September 19, 2025, alongside the EA Play 10-hour trial. Those dates are historical, but EA’s FC 26 page remains active with current purchase options and ongoing content.
Official ways to get FC 26 on Windows
Use the Buy Now options on EA’s official FC 26 page, or search for the official EA SPORTS FC 26 listing inside one of these launchers:

These are separate storefront licenses. A game purchased through the EA app cannot be transferred to Steam, and buying through Steam does not turn the license into an EA app purchase. Choose the storefront you intend to keep using before completing checkout.

Before you download: check your Windows PC
EA and the Steam listing publish the following requirements. They are storefront specifications, not independent benchmark results. Meeting the minimum specification does not guarantee a particular frame rate, resolution, graphics preset, or smoothness level.

- Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit, with the latest updates
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel Core i5-6600K
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 570 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 100 GB available space
- Internet: Broadband connection; EA’s purchase information lists 512 Kbps for the online connection requirement
Recommended requirements
- Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit, with the latest updates
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Intel Core i7-6700
- Memory: 12 GB RAM

How to check the basics in Windows
- Open Settings > System > About to check your Windows edition, system type, processor, and installed RAM.
- Open Settings > System > Storage to check free space on the drive where you plan to install the game.
- Press Windows key + R, type
dxdiag, and press Enter to review your DirectX, processor, memory, and graphics information. - Run Windows Update before installing. FC 26’s published requirement is a current 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 installation.
Keep more than exactly 100 GB free if possible. Launchers may need temporary working space for downloads, unpacking, patches, and updates, so an almost-full drive can cause an installation to fail even when Windows reports 100 GB available.
How to download and install FC 26 through the EA app
- Install or update the EA app for Windows. Download it from EA’s official source rather than from an unofficial launcher or file-sharing site.
- Sign in to your EA Account. Create an account if you do not already have one. Use the account that owns or will redeem the game.
- Purchase or redeem FC 26. Confirm the edition and account before completing the transaction.
- Open Library in the EA app and select EA SPORTS FC 26.
- Choose Download or Install, select the destination drive, and review the available-space requirement.
- Allow the EA app to download the complete game and apply any required EA app, game, or anti-cheat updates.
- Start FC 26 from the EA app using the same EA Account that owns the license.
If the game does not appear in Library, first confirm that you are signed in to the purchasing account. Check the order or redemption status before attempting to buy the game again.
How to install the Steam version
- Open Steam and find the official EA SPORTS FC 26 store listing.
- Purchase the game through Steam, then select it in your Steam Library.
- Install the game and follow Steam’s prompts to install or update the EA app if required.
- Sign in to the EA Account you want associated with the game.
- Complete any requested EA and Steam account-linking or activation steps.
- Launch FC 26 from the Steam Library after both services have finished updating.
EA states that games purchased through Steam may require the EA app to launch. The Steam listing also identifies EA online activation and EA app software requirements. Do not assume that buying on Steam eliminates the need for an EA Account.

- Open the Epic Games Store and locate the official EA SPORTS FC 26 listing.
- Purchase the game and install it through your Epic Games Library.
- When Epic launches the game, allow the EA app to open if prompted.
- Sign in to an EA Account or create one.
- Follow the prompt to link the Epic Games account to the EA Account.
- Complete the EA app and game updates, then launch FC 26 from the storefront/account combination used for the purchase.
Account linking is important: linking the wrong EA Account can create confusion about ownership and progress. If you already have several EA Accounts, check the account email carefully before accepting a linking prompt.

Is FC 26 free to download?
No. EA’s official pages describe paid editions and subscription-based access or trials, not a permanently free full-game Windows download. Avoid websites advertising a “free full version,” cracked installer, torrent, unauthorized activation key, or modified launcher. These are not legitimate alternatives and can expose your account, payment details, or PC to unnecessary risk.
If you are evaluating the game rather than buying it outright, check the current availability and terms of EA Play or EA Play Pro in your region. The launch-period EA Play 10-hour trial and EA Play Pro access began on September 19, 2025; those historical launch terms should not be treated as a promise of current access or pricing.
EA Javelin Anti-Cheat: an important PC consideration
EA says FC 26 uses Javelin Anti-Cheat, which runs at kernel level while the game is active on the PC. This is a material security and privacy consideration for anyone deciding whether to install the Windows version.
EA also states that uninstalling FC 26, together with other EA games using the driver, removes the Javelin Anti-Cheat driver. The published information does not justify claiming that the system improves frame rate, guarantees a cheat-free environment, or is harmless in every privacy and security context. If kernel-level anti-cheat is a concern, review EA’s current anti-cheat documentation and decide whether the PC version fits your requirements before purchasing.
Controller support on Windows
A keyboard and mouse are not the only way to play FC 26 on PC. EA’s PC deep dive describes enhanced controller support, including:

Sony’s Windows documentation confirms that DualSense works with 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 over USB or Bluetooth. Features vary by game, and PC haptics may require a wired USB connection. A controller is optional for downloading and playing FC 26, but a Sony DualSense wireless controller for PC is a reasonable accessory choice if you want the supported haptic and adaptive-trigger features and are prepared to use USB when necessary.
Troubleshooting download, installation, and launch problems
“Not enough space” or the download stops
- Confirm that the destination drive has at least 100 GB free, preferably with additional headroom for temporary files and patches.
- Use Settings > System > Storage to remove unnecessary files and check whether another drive has more capacity.
- Close other launchers and applications that may be downloading or writing heavily to the same drive.
- Restart the relevant launcher and resume the download.
A Windows disk-space and performance troubleshooting tool such as Outbyte PC Repair may help identify cleanup opportunities or manage general Windows maintenance, but it does not replace the 100 GB requirement and cannot turn an underpowered PC into a supported gaming system. It should not be presented as an EA-certified fix, an anti-cheat repair tool, or a guarantee of higher FPS.

FC 26 is missing from the library
- Sign out of the EA app or storefront, then sign back in to the account used for purchase.
- Check your order history or redemption confirmation.
- For Steam or Epic purchases, verify that the correct EA Account is linked.
- Restart the launcher after account linking completes.
The EA app will not open or the game will not load
- Install pending Windows, launcher, and game updates.
- Close the EA app completely and restart Windows.
- Temporarily check whether security software or firewall rules are blocking the launcher, while keeping your security protection active and only changing settings you understand.
- Use the launcher’s repair or verification option if available.
- If the game still will not download, install, or load, EA’s troubleshooting guidance recommends reinstalling the EA app.
Steam or Epic keeps opening the wrong account
Stop before accepting a new link if the displayed EA email is not the account you intend to use. Account associations can affect access and are not a mechanism for transferring a Steam license into the EA app or vice versa. Use the storefront’s and EA’s account-support processes rather than repeatedly linking and unlinking accounts.
The controller connects but advanced features do not work
Try a USB connection first, particularly for DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers. Bluetooth may provide basic input or vibration while not exposing every feature. Also check that Windows recognizes the controller and that no other controller-mapping application is intercepting its input.

- “Free download” pages that ask you to disable security software or run an unknown executable
For a legitimate installation, stay with EA’s official purchase route, Steam, or Epic Games Store, and use the account combination associated with the purchase.
Is a cloud livestreaming service needed?

Does the Steam version require the EA app?

How much storage does FC 26 require on PC?
