A password change is still important, but a password change alone may not be a complete response after session theft or device compromise. Clean the device, inspect active sessions, and log out unfamiliar sessions through Settings > Security > Where you’re logged in.
Are free Robux links safe?

Other warning signs include an unexpected password-reset email, an email-address change notification, an unfamiliar login alert, missing Robux or items, a changed avatar or privacy setting, messages you did not send, an unfamiliar trade or transaction, or a prompt asking you to approve a login you did not initiate. 1. Verify an email address
A verified email can help with password resets, 2-Step Verification, security notifications, and support. Roblox’s privacy policy also describes a verified email as a method used for identity verification and security notifications. For a child’s account, a parent or guardian email may provide an additional recovery and oversight route when appropriate, but the email account itself must also have a strong, unique password and its own multifactor authentication.
2. Use a unique password
Use a difficult-to-guess Roblox password that has never been used for email, social media, another game, or any other website. Do not base the password on a username or obvious phrase. A password manager is optional, but it can generate and store unique passwords so password reuse is less tempting. A password manager is not a Roblox requirement and is not endorsed by Roblox merely because it supports this security practice.

3. Turn on 2-Step Verification
Roblox documents multiple 2-Step Verification methods, and a verified email address is required to enable 2SV. 2SV adds a second verification step when Roblox detects a sign-in that needs additional protection, which is especially useful if a password is stolen. 2SV improves account security but does not make an account impossible to compromise: phishing, malware, recovery-email compromise, and an already-compromised device remain relevant risks.
Save backup codes privately and maintain another recovery method. Roblox warns that losing the primary 2SV method can make recovery difficult and may require two different verification methods. Backup codes are displayed only once when generated, each code is single-use, and generating a new set deactivates the previous set.

4. Should you use a passkey or hardware security key?
Passkeys and physical security keys are the stronger choice for users seeking phishing-resistant Roblox sign-in protection. Roblox describes Enhanced Protection as “an advanced version of 2-step verification (2SV)” and requires phishing-resistant methods such as device-bound passkeys or hardware security keys.
Roblox’s documented Enhanced Protection requirements include at least one passkey, a verified email address, and either a verified phone number or backup codes. Under Enhanced Protection, ordinary email one-time codes and authenticator-app six-digit codes are disabled for 2SV challenges; passwords require a passkey or hardware-key challenge instead. Some devices may not support passkeys directly, in which case Roblox recommends Quick Login.
Roblox’s 2SV documentation names YubiKey 5 and Google Titan Security Key as examples of physical security keys. A YubiKey 5 security key is optional rather than required: it is most relevant to someone who wants a phishing-resistant sign-in method and is willing to keep possession of a physical device. Compatibility with the device, browser, and account setup matters, and losing the key can create an access problem, so keep the additional recovery methods required by Roblox.

5. Treat security notifications as warnings
With a verified email address, Roblox can notify users about new login events and certain trade or transaction attempts that require 2SV. Deny an unrecognized second-device login attempt, then change the password and review active sessions. A notification is an early warning signal, not proof by itself that an attacker has full control.
6. Protect the device and email account
Account security cannot compensate for a compromised computer or browser. Avoid unofficial downloads and browser extensions claiming to provide Robux, trades, exploits, or account tools. Roblox says it does not create official browser extensions. Secure the recovery email with a unique password and the email provider’s own MFA, because an attacker controlling that email may be able to undo Roblox account changes.

Follow the steps below in order. The sequence matters because changing a password on an infected device can expose the new password again.
- Stop communicating with the attacker. Do not send additional passwords, cookies, 2SV codes, backup codes, screenshots, payment details, or personal information. Do not accept an off-platform deal promising to return Robux or items.
- Clean the device. Remove suspicious downloads and browser extensions. Run a full virus scan, restart the device, and run another scan. Roblox gives this device-cleanup advice in its hacked-account recovery instructions.
- Reset the Roblox password. Choose a unique password that has not been used anywhere else. If the password-reset email does not arrive, check the correct email account and its spam or junk folder.
- Terminate unfamiliar sessions. Open Settings > Security > Where you’re logged in and log out suspicious sessions or all other sessions.
- Enable or strengthen 2SV. Add and verify an email, save backup codes privately, and consider a passkey or hardware security key if the account and devices support Enhanced Protection.
- Secure the recovery email. Change the email password if it may have been exposed and enable the email provider’s MFA.
- Contact Roblox Support if access or ownership cannot be restored. Roblox says the first email address added to the account or the billing email used for the first payment may help verify ownership, even if the address was later changed. Never give Support your Roblox password, cookie, 2SV code, or backup code.
- Report the scam or malicious experience. Use Roblox’s reporting tools and preserve non-sensitive evidence, such as the offending username or experience URL, without sending secret credentials.
Can Roblox restore stolen Robux or items?
Recovery of stolen Robux, limited items, trades, or other virtual currency is not guaranteed. Roblox says it is generally not obligated to restore a compromised account to its previous state or recover lost virtual items or currency. In very limited circumstances, Roblox may help recover lost inventory or its approximate value, and its recovery guidance says the owner generally must contact Roblox within 30 days of the compromise.
Contacting Support quickly is worthwhile, but no article or third party can promise that Roblox will restore Robux, items, trades, or a deleted account. Do not pay a stranger who claims to be able to reverse a trade or recover an account.
