It runs supported Android games on remote cloud servers and streams the gameplay to your browser, so you usually do not need to install the complete game on your phone, tablet, Chromebook, or computer. Your device sends touch, keyboard, mouse, or controller input back to the remote session.
That makes now.gg useful for low-powered devices and limited storage, but it is not a guarantee that every Android game will work, that access will always be free, or that performance will match a local installation.
How now.gg works
With a normal game installation, your device downloads the game files and performs the processing and rendering locally. now.gg reverses that arrangement:
- The game runs inside a remote Android environment hosted by now.gg.
- Remote servers process the game and render each frame.
- Your browser receives a live video and audio stream.
- Your touch, keyboard, mouse, or controller input travels back to the server.
Because the game is processed remotely, your device generally needs less storage and gaming hardware. What games can you play on now.gg?
now.gg primarily focuses on Android and mobile games delivered through the cloud. It is not a universal library of PC and console games, and being able to open now.gg on a particular device does not mean every Android title is available there.
Availability can vary by:
- Game title and technical compatibility.
- Country or region.
- Account type and access conditions.
- Publisher or licensing arrangements.
- Temporary service availability.
- Whether the title is free, ad-supported, or subject to paid access.
Use the live now.gg game directory as the current source of truth instead of relying on a static list. A listed game may still require its own account, age eligibility, in-game purchases, or acceptance of the publisher’s terms. Playing through now.gg also does not automatically transfer guest saves, purchases, settings, or progress between every platform.
Is now.gg free?
now.gg has promoted free, ad-supported cloud access, but free access is not universal or guaranteed. Its About page describes an ad-supported cloud device and says there is no cost for playing in the cloud. However, the company’s Terms of Use also allow paid services, subscriptions, and in-app purchases.
In practice, the price and conditions may depend on the game, region, account, queue, or service flow. A game that is free to download from an Android store can still have separate cloud-access conditions. Check the information shown on the official game page before starting, and do not assume that an earlier article’s claim of “free” applies to every user.

Ads, queues, session limits, interruptions, or paid access may also change over time. There is no stable universal now.gg price that should be quoted without checking the live service for the relevant region and account.
Supported devices and browsers
The currently available official requirements document lists these minimum host platforms:
- Windows 7 or later.
- macOS OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 or later.
- ChromeOS 76 or later.
- iPadOS 15 or later.
- iOS 15 or later.
- Android 7 or later.
It lists browser support including Chrome 102 or later, Edge 102 or later, Firefox 88 or later, Opera 89 or later, and Safari 11 or later, with availability varying by operating system. These are the versions in the currently available official now.gg requirements PDF, not permanent guarantees. Requirements and supported browsers can change.

The PDF specifies a minimum stable connection speed of 5 Mbps. That is a connection threshold, not a promise of smooth gameplay. Latency, packet loss, jitter, Wi-Fi congestion, routing to the assigned server, browser performance, server demand, and the game itself can matter just as much as download speed.

How to play a game on now.gg
- Open the official now.gg website.
- Search for the game you want to play.
- Open the game’s official now.gg page.
- Select the available play or launch control.
- Complete any sign-in, consent, age, or account prompts.
- Wait for the cloud session to initialize.
- Choose the available touch, keyboard, mouse, or gamepad controls.
Interface labels and sign-in steps can differ between games and may change. Use the official domain rather than a mirror, “unblocked” copy, browser extension, or APK claiming to be required for ordinary browser play.
Does now.gg require an app or download?
The core browser experience is designed to stream the game without installing the complete game locally. That is different from downloading an APK or installing an Android emulator.
There is an important qualification: now.gg’s Terms say certain services or devices may require software to be downloaded and installed. Therefore, “no download” usually describes browser-based game streaming, not every possible now.gg service or device flow. Treat an unexpected installer cautiously and verify that it comes from an official now.gg page.
Is now.gg safe?
There is no responsible basis for calling any online gaming service “100% safe.” The answer depends on which risk you mean: local malware, account security, privacy, children’s safety, or a game publisher’s rules.

Because the game runs remotely, browser play can reduce the need to install unknown APK files or give a locally installed game access to device permissions. now.gg says games run on remote servers rather than being downloaded and executed on the user’s device. That can reduce some local installation risks, but it does not eliminate phishing, malicious advertisements, browser vulnerabilities, scams, or unsafe third-party pages.
Use the official now.gg domain, keep your browser updated, and never install a file merely because a lookalike site says it is necessary.

Google login alerts and unfamiliar locations
A Google account may show a new-device or unusual-location alert because the session is running from a remote server, potentially in another city or country. now.gg explains this as a consequence of cloud-server access. It is not automatically proof that your account was stolen, but it should not be dismissed blindly.
Before continuing, verify the domain, review recent account activity, and confirm that the login corresponds to the session you started. Use a strong, unique password and two-factor authentication where available. Never enter credentials into an unexpected pop-up or third-party page, and sign out on shared or public devices.

Review the current Terms and Privacy Policy before registering. The policy discusses mobile-number authentication codes and states that now.gg does not share the number with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. It also says now.gg does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 and asks under-16 users not to register.
Those statements are company policy disclosures, not a promise that no data is collected. Parents should separately consider the game’s rating, voice or text chat, advertising, purchases, account credentials, and the privacy practices of both now.gg and the game publisher.
Can playing through now.gg get you banned?
now.gg says that playing through its cloud servers is equivalent to using a remotely accessed Android device and that users should not be banned merely for using now.gg. That is the company’s position, not a universal guarantee from every publisher.
The game’s own rules still control. A publisher may restrict automation, modified clients, account sharing, location spoofing, unusual login behavior, or other conduct. Using now.gg does not override those rules. Ordinary cloud play is different from cheating or manipulating a game, but no service can promise immunity from a game-specific enforcement decision.
Does progress save on now.gg?
Progress depends on the game’s account and save system. Sign in with the game’s supported account provider when synchronization is offered, rather than relying on guest progress. Guest saves, purchases, settings, and local session data may not survive every cloud session or transfer automatically to another device.

now.gg’s developer documentation advertises cloud-storage features for developers, but that does not mean every game on the consumer platform automatically uses cloud saves. The game’s own account and support documentation are the better authority for progress recovery.
Can you use a controller?
now.gg has published support for gamepad play in its gamepad announcement. Actual compatibility can vary by browser, device, controller model, and game.
- A controller may connect but have incomplete button mapping.
- Some Android games are designed primarily for touch.
- Browser permissions or operating-system support can affect detection.
- Test the controller before starting a competitive session.
What to do when now.gg lags or disconnects
Cloud gaming cannot hide a poor network path. Use this sequence:
- Move to a stronger Wi-Fi connection or use wired networking where possible.
- Pause downloads, video streaming, cloud backups, and other bandwidth-heavy activity.
- Update your browser and use one of the officially supported browsers.
- Disable unnecessary extensions, especially ad-blocking or script-blocking extensions that interfere with the game page.
- Reload the session and sign in again if the session expired.
- Try another network to distinguish local Wi-Fi or routing problems from a service problem.
- Check whether the issue affects one game or every game.
- Contact official now.gg support if the problem continues.
Common causes include low bandwidth, high latency, packet loss, server demand, regional availability, an unsupported browser, game-specific incompatibility, expired login sessions, controller-mapping problems, or browser privacy settings blocking required scripts and cookies.
Is now.gg legal?
now.gg operates as a commercial cloud platform and publishes Terms of Use and licensing material for publishers. Its developer documentation describes hosting Android applications in a cloud-based service. That does not create a blanket legal guarantee for every game, country, account, or use case.
Permitted use can depend on the publisher’s license, regional distribution rights, age and location rules, copyright and trademark restrictions, anti-cheat policy, and whether you are using an official now.gg page rather than an unauthorized clone. Follow both now.gg’s terms and the game publisher’s rules.

Choose now.gg when you have limited storage, a low-powered device, a supported Android game, and a dependable low-latency connection. It is especially useful on Chromebooks, older computers, and devices that cannot comfortably install or run a particular title.
Choose local installation when you need offline play, the lowest possible input latency, reliable access without queues or ads, mods and local files, advanced graphics settings, or a connection that is slow or unreliable. Local play also avoids the extra video-streaming step, although it requires compatible hardware, storage, and software installation.
