Samsung Odyssey 3D G90XH: 6K, 165Hz and glasses-free 3D—but it isn’t OLED

The Samsung Odyssey 3D G90XH is real, but it is a 6K IPS monitor rather than OLED. Here’s what its 165Hz, 330Hz Dual Mode, eye-tracked 3D and availability mean.

Samsung’s Odyssey 3D G90XH is real, but the commonly repeated “6K OLED” description is wrong. Samsung announced it as a 32-inch IPS gaming monitor with a 6,144 × 3,456 resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, glasses-free 3D and a 330Hz Dual Mode that runs at 3K. The OLED monitor announced alongside it is the separate 4K QD-OLED Odyssey OLED G8 G80SH.

The G90XH was demonstrated around CES 2026, but Samsung’s announcement and the reviewed CES coverage did not establish a confirmed U.S. price, release date or shipping status as of August 18, 2026.

Samsung Odyssey G90XH: the confirmed specifications

The G90XH is an officially announced Samsung Odyssey 3D model, not a rumor or concept. Samsung describes it as a 6K glasses-free 3D gaming monitor, and says it uses real-time eye tracking to adjust the displayed perspective to the viewer’s position.

Specification G90XH
Product family Samsung Odyssey 3D
Model G90XH
Screen size 32 inches
Panel type IPS
Resolution 6,144 × 3,456, marketed as 6K
Refresh rate 165Hz at 6K
Dual Mode Up to 330Hz at 3K
Response time 1ms GtG, according to Samsung
3D Glasses-free 3D
Tracking Real-time eye tracking

These specifications come from Samsung’s announcement. Samsung’s “world’s first” wording is a company claim rather than an independent industry certification.

It is not an OLED monitor

The G90XH uses an IPS panel. It is not OLED, and its specifications should not be combined with those of Samsung’s separate Odyssey OLED G8 G80SH.

The G80SH is a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate. It is designed for buyers who prioritize OLED contrast and black levels, whereas the G90XH’s defining features are its higher 6K resolution and glasses-free 3D. Samsung announced both products in the same Odyssey lineup, which likely explains some of the model confusion.

The correct description is:

Samsung Odyssey 3D G90XH: 6K, 165Hz, glasses-free 3D gaming monitor

Calling it the “Samsung Odyssey G90XH 6K OLED gaming monitor” incorrectly transfers the G80SH’s OLED specification to the G90XH.

How the glasses-free 3D works

Samsung says the monitor uses real-time eye tracking to adjust depth and perspective according to the viewer’s position. The intended result is a layered 3D image without a headset or stereoscopic glasses.

This is not the same experience as a VR headset. The effect is designed primarily for someone seated in front of the display, and the eye-tracking system is central to keeping the perspective aligned. Viewing distance, head movement, room lighting and the position of the viewer can all matter in practice.

Samsung also lists 2D-to-3D conversion, but that should not be interpreted as proof that every game will receive the same quality of 3D treatment. The announcement identifies some games with optimized 3D effects developed in collaboration with studios:

  • The First Berserker: Khazan
  • Lies of P: Overture
  • Stellar Blade

Samsung refers to an expanded lineup of supported titles, but the cited announcement does not provide a complete compatibility list. It also does not establish whether every unsupported game receives the same result through generic 2D-to-3D conversion.

Before buying, prospective owners should look for confirmation of whether Samsung software is required, whether games receive individual profiles, whether 3D reduces effective resolution or refresh rate, and whether console games are supported. Those details were not established in the reviewed announcement.

6K/165Hz versus 3K/330Hz

The G90XH does not run at 6K and 330Hz simultaneously.

  • 6K mode: 6,144 × 3,456 at up to 165Hz
  • 3K Dual Mode: a lower-resolution mode at up to 330Hz

The 330Hz mode is therefore a performance-oriented alternative, not the refresh rate of the 6K mode. It may appeal to competitive players who prefer faster motion and easier frame-rate targets, while the 6K mode is aimed at detail, desktop space and the monitor’s unusual 3D presentation.

That distinction matters because 6K contains substantially more pixels than 4K. Rendering demanding games at 6K and approaching 165 frames per second will place a very heavy workload on a graphics card, particularly with ray tracing enabled. Tom’s Hardware’s CES coverage also highlighted the difficulty of driving 6K at 165Hz and the practicality of the lower-resolution 330Hz mode.

Samsung 27" Odyssey G5 (G51F) Series QHD (1440P) Gaming Monitor
  • QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
  • HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
  • The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
  • AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
  • Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort

There is no verified “required GPU” for the G90XH in the reviewed material. Real-world performance will depend on the game engine, graphics settings, ray tracing, upscaling, frame generation and the graphics card’s output capabilities. Buyers should decide whether they primarily want 6K image detail or a high-refresh 3K gaming mode rather than assuming they will routinely get both at once.

G90XH compared with Samsung’s other Odyssey models

Model What distinguishes it
G90XH 32-inch 6K IPS, glasses-free 3D, 165Hz at 6K and 330Hz at 3K
G80HS 6K IPS model without an announced glasses-free 3D feature
G80SH 32-inch 4K QD-OLED, 240Hz; no announced glasses-free 3D feature
G90XF Earlier 27-inch 4K glasses-free 3D monitor

The Odyssey 3D G90XF is particularly easy to confuse with the G90XH. It is a separate 27-inch 4K, 165Hz glasses-free 3D product, not a 6K version of the G90XH and not an OLED display.

G90XH versus OLED image quality

The G90XH may offer more resolution than a conventional 4K OLED monitor, but that does not make it automatically better in overall image quality. IPS panels generally should not be expected to match OLED’s black levels and contrast, and Tom’s Hardware specifically noted that the G90XH’s IPS panel should not be expected to match OLED contrast.

The practical trade-off is straightforward:

  • Choose the G90XH’s direction if 6K sharpness, a large high-resolution workspace and glasses-free 3D are more important than OLED-level contrast.
  • Choose the G80SH’s direction if you want a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED monitor with 240Hz and stronger expected black-level performance, but do not need glasses-free 3D.
  • Consider a conventional 4K OLED if your priority is HDR impact, contrast and a more established buying option rather than experimental display features.

Samsung has not established the G90XH’s brightness, HDR certification, color gamut, local-dimming behavior, coating, exact response behavior, burn-in policy or adaptive-sync certification in the cited material. Those specifications should not be borrowed from another Odyssey model.

Who should consider the G90XH?

The G90XH could make sense for:

  • Early adopters who specifically want glasses-free 3D
  • PC gamers with sufficiently powerful hardware for high-resolution rendering
  • Players interested in Samsung-optimized 3D titles
  • Creators who want a very high-resolution 32-inch workspace
  • Users willing to wait for independent testing and a confirmed launch

It is a poor fit for:

  • Buyers who need a monitor immediately
  • People who primarily want OLED contrast or the strongest HDR experience
  • Competitive players seeking a straightforward, independently tested 360Hz or 500Hz esports monitor
  • Users with midrange graphics cards who expect to play demanding games at 6K/165Hz
  • Console-focused buyers, unless Samsung confirms console compatibility
  • Anyone who expects every game to have a fully authored 3D mode
  • People who are especially sensitive to IPS glow or expect OLED-level blacks

Price and availability

Availability checked: August 18, 2026. Samsung’s announcement confirms that the G90XH exists and identifies its core specifications. The reviewed official material does not establish a confirmed U.S. MSRP, U.S. release date, shipping date or live U.S. retail inventory.

Samsung announced the Odyssey lineup ahead of CES 2026, which took place in Las Vegas from January 6–9. CES coverage reported that Samsung had not disclosed the G90XH’s price or availability at that time. A public demonstration is not the same milestone as a retail launch, and the monitor should not be described as available, shipping or on sale without a dated regional product page or retailer listing.

For readers shopping now, Samsung’s G90XF is the closest listed 3D alternative, but it is smaller and lower resolution. The official U.S. product page showed a $1,399.99 price signal when accessed, while delivery and in-store pickup were unavailable at that time. That status and price should be checked again before purchase.

What to wait for before buying

  1. A confirmed regional Samsung product page and MSRP
  2. A release or shipping date
  3. Independent testing of 3D tracking, viewing comfort and head-movement tolerance
  4. Measured gaming performance in both 6K and 3K modes
  5. Clarification of supported games, software requirements and console compatibility
  6. Full information about HDR, brightness, connectivity, stand adjustment and warranty

A short CES demonstration cannot establish long-term eye comfort, image retention, durability, gaming latency or how well the 3D effect works across different rooms and seating positions.

Verdict

The Samsung Odyssey 3D G90XH is a genuine and unusually ambitious monitor announcement, but it is best understood as a 32-inch 6K IPS display with glasses-free 3D—not a 6K OLED monitor. Its headline modes are 165Hz at 6K and 330Hz at 3K, and the latter is not available at full resolution.

It is potentially compelling for early adopters who specifically want glasses-free 3D and have the hardware to explore 6K gaming. Buyers who value contrast, HDR or immediate availability should look toward OLED alternatives instead. Until Samsung confirms pricing, regional availability and detailed compatibility, the sensible approach is to treat the G90XH as an announced product to watch rather than a monitor that can already be bought with confidence.
