xlstat4.dll is a Thunder/Xunlei application file, so the safest fix is to repair or reinstall Thunder rather than download the DLL separately. If Windows says xlstat4.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, do not copy a replacement into System32 or SysWOW64.
What xlstat4.dll belongs to
xlstat4.dll is associated with Thunder, also known as Xunlei, from Shenzhen Xunlei Networking Technologies, Ltd. It is a private application module, not a Windows component and not a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX, or .NET file.
The file normally appears inside Thunder’s own program directory, such as:
C:UsersadminThunderProgramxlstat4.dll
C:Program Files (x86)Thunder NetworkThunderProgramxlstat4.dll
The exact path depends on how Thunder was installed. Public Xunlei module listings also show xlstat4.dll loaded by Thunder.exe. Older updater components, including XLLiveUD.exe, have also been reported with this filename.

Download or reinstall Thunder only from Xunlei’s official Windows download page. The installer name and current version can change, so do not rely on an old filename copied from another guide.
What the error message means
You may see one of these messages:
- “The program can’t start because xlstat4.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because xlstat4.dll was not found.”
- “Error loading xlstat4.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “There was a problem starting xlstat4.dll.”
- An entry-point error involving
xlstat4.dll.
The wording helps identify the failure:
- Missing or not found: Thunder cannot locate the file, or a required dependency cannot be located.
- Specified module could not be found:
xlstat4.dllmay be present, but another module that it requires may be missing. - Entry point not found: Thunder and the DLL may come from different releases.
- Cannot run on Windows: the binary may be damaged, incompatible, or invalid. This wording does not prove that Windows supplied the file.
Follow the fixes below in order.
Fix 1: Check Windows Security quarantine
Time needed: 3–5 minutes
Antivirus software may quarantine or remove an application DLL after a scan or Thunder update. Check this before repeatedly reinstalling.
- Press Windows and type Windows Security.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Under Current threats, select Protection history.
- Look for an item involving
xlstat4.dll, Thunder, or Xunlei. - Open the item and review its location and detection details.
Restore the file only when all of the following are true:
- It was located inside the Thunder installation directory.
- Thunder came from the official Xunlei installer.
- The quarantine record clearly identifies the legitimate application.
If you are uncertain, do not restore it. Reinstall Thunder from the official source instead. If the same file is quarantined again, leave it isolated and investigate the detection rather than downloading a replacement DLL.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall Thunder
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
This is the most likely solution because xlstat4.dll is supplied by Thunder.
Back up important Thunder data
Before uninstalling, preserve any downloads, task lists, or settings you still need. Do not delete personal data simply because a guide tells you to remove every folder named Thunder.
Uninstall the damaged installation
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Search for Thunder or Xunlei.
- Select the application and choose Uninstall.
- Complete the uninstall wizard.
- Restart Windows.
If Thunder is not listed, continue with the reinstall. Do not remove unrelated folders or Windows DLL directories.
Install Thunder again
- Open the official Xunlei download page.
- Download the current Windows Thunder installer.
- Right-click the downloaded installer.
- Select Properties and check that Windows has not blocked it. If an Unblock option appears, select it and choose Apply.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Install Thunder in its normal application location.
- Restart Windows after installation.
- Start Thunder from its new shortcut.
A successful repair should restore xlstat4.dll inside Thunder’s program directory and allow Thunder.exe to open without the original message.

If the installer reports that a file is in use, restart Windows and try again. If the error returns immediately after a clean reinstall, check antivirus quarantine again before copying anything manually.
Fix 3: Remove a manually copied or mismatched DLL
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
An entry-point error often means that Thunder.exe and xlstat4.dll came from different Thunder releases. This can happen after copying a DLL from another computer or from a separate download.
- Close Thunder and any Xunlei updater process.
- Open the Thunder installation folder.
- If you manually placed
xlstat4.dllthere, remove that replacement. - Check
System32andSysWOW64only for a copy that you knowingly added yourself. Do not delete Windows files. - Reinstall Thunder using Fix 2.
A 32-bit Thunder process needs the compatible module for that application, even when Windows itself is 64-bit. Do not choose a DLL merely because its label matches your operating system architecture.
Fix 4: Restart, update Windows, and test the installer
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
A pending restart or incomplete Windows update can interfere with installation and file replacement.
- Save your work and restart Windows.
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart if Windows requests it.
- Run the official Thunder installer again as administrator.
If Thunder works after the update, the problem was likely an incomplete installation state rather than a missing Windows DLL.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components only when broader corruption is present
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
DISM and System File Checker repair Windows components and protected Windows files. They generally do not restore a private Thunder DLL, so use them when Windows itself is unstable, installers fail, or several applications show corruption symptoms.
- Press Windows, type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall Thunder if
xlstat4.dllis still missing.
Microsoft documents this order because DISM repairs the component store that SFC may use. If you want a guided scan instead of repeatedly hunting through repair commands, Outbyte PC Repair can show what it finds; repair is handled by the full version, and reinstalling Thunder remains the definitive fix for this application file.
If SFC reports that it found no integrity violations, that does not mean Thunder’s private files are present. Continue with the Thunder reinstall.

Fix 6: Check for a missing dependency
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
The message “The specified module could not be found” can refer to a dependency required by xlstat4.dll, not necessarily to xlstat4.dll itself.

- MICROSOFT WINDOWS 11 PRO (INGLES) FPP 64-BIT ENG INTL USB FLASH DRIVE
First, reinstall Thunder from its official installer. Do not install random runtime packages based only on the filename.
If Thunder still fails:
- Check whether other applications also fail to start.
- Run the DISM and SFC commands in Fix 5.
- Confirm that Windows updates are complete.
- Review Windows Security for quarantined Thunder files.
- Test the installer with Thunder closed and after a restart.
Reinstalling Visual C++ is not the primary repair for this filename. It becomes relevant only if the error changes to identify a missing Microsoft runtime dependency.
Fix 7: Update Windows drivers only when the wider system is affected
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
A driver is not the normal owner of xlstat4.dll. Consider this step only when Thunder’s failure began alongside broader graphics, storage, network, or system instability.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the category related to the affected hardware.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
- If the problem began immediately after a driver update, open the device’s Properties, select the Driver tab, and choose Roll Back Driver when available.
If Windows cannot identify the right driver, the manual process can mean hunting through hardware models and matching versions. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show what needs attention; installation is handled by the full version, and it is not a substitute for reinstalling Thunder when Thunder owns the missing DLL.
Fix 8: Check permissions, stale updaters, and malware
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
Test another Windows account
If Thunder works under another account:
- Open Settings.
- Select Accounts.
- Select Other users.
- Add a local test account.
- Sign in to that account.
- Install or launch Thunder.
A working test account points to permissions or damaged profile data. Do not migrate application files until you confirm the installation works.
Inspect stale startup entries
If the error appears at logon after Thunder was removed:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Select Startup apps.
- Disable an old Thunder or Xunlei updater entry.
- Restart Windows.
You can also open Task Scheduler and inspect task names clearly associated with the removed Thunder installation. Remove only confirmed orphaned Thunder tasks.

If xlstat4.dll appears outside the Thunder directory, has an unexpected publisher or signature, or the error coincides with suspicious activity, run a Microsoft Defender Offline scan. Do not restore a quarantined file until it has been assessed.
Why regsvr32 usually does not help
regsvr32 is not a general DLL installation command. It applies to DLLs that expose COM registration functions such as DllRegisterServer.

- Key is included
xlstat4.dll is a Thunder application module, not a DLL known here to require COM registration. Running this command is therefore unlikely to repair Thunder:
regsvr32 xlstat4.dll
It may return “The entry point DllRegisterServer was not found.” That result does not prove the file is damaged. Reinstall the owning application instead.

What not to do
- Do not download
xlstat4.dllfrom a random DLL website. - Do not copy it into
System32orSysWOW64. - Do not mix a DLL from one Thunder release with
Thunder.exefrom another. - Do not run automated registry cleaners as the first repair.
- Do not delete broad Windows folders while trying to remove Thunder.
- Do not assume a 64-bit Windows installation needs a 64-bit Thunder DLL.
- Do not use System Restore unless the problem clearly began after a known change and a current Thunder installer is unavailable.
A standalone DLL can be the wrong build, modified, unsigned, or incompatible with the installed Thunder version. It can also hide the real cause, such as quarantine, a failed update, or a damaged installation.
Common causes and their corresponding fixes
| Likely cause | Best response |
|---|---|
| Thunder was incompletely installed or updated | Reinstall Thunder from Xunlei |
| Antivirus quarantined the file | Review Protection history and reinstall if uncertain |
| Mixed Thunder versions | Remove the copied DLL and reinstall the matching build |
| Damaged disk or repeated corruption | Check storage health, update Windows, then run DISM and SFC |
| Malware or unwanted modification | Run a security scan and do not restore blindly |
| Damaged user profile or permissions | Test a new local Windows account |
| Thunder was removed but its updater remains | Disable the stale startup or scheduled task |
FAQ
Is xlstat4.dll a Windows system file?
No. It is associated with Thunder/Xunlei and should normally remain in Thunder’s application directory.
Can I download xlstat4.dll by itself?
That is not the recommended repair. Use the official Thunder installer so the DLL and its related files match.
Should I install Visual C++?
Not as the primary fix. xlstat4.dll is a Thunder module. Consider a Microsoft runtime only if a later error specifically identifies that runtime as missing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhy does the message say a module is missing when the file is visible?
A dependent module may be missing, or the visible DLL may be incompatible or damaged. Reinstall Thunder before investigating deeper dependencies.
Does xlstat4.dll need to be registered?
Usually no. regsvr32 is for DLLs designed for COM registration, not every application DLL.
Will SFC restore xlstat4.dll?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files, while xlstat4.dll belongs to Thunder. Use SFC and DISM for broader Windows corruption, then reinstall Thunder.
What if Thunder was already removed?
If an error appears at logon, inspect Startup apps and Task Scheduler for a stale Thunder updater. Disable or remove only the confirmed orphaned entry.
