ep0ndw00.dll is a reported Epson Uni-Mini Driver component, not a normal Windows runtime file. If Windows says ep0ndw00.dll is missing or could not be loaded, the safest repair is to identify the Epson printer package that needs it and reinstall that package from Epson.
What this file actually does
Public file records associate ep0ndw00.dll with Epson Uni-Mini Driver 1.0 and the EPSON Printer Driver product. Those records are historical and incomplete, so they do not establish one universal file size, path, architecture, or current Epson package.
This is a printer-driver component. It is not documented as a standard Windows DLL, Visual C++ Redistributable file, DirectX component, or .NET runtime file. A missing Microsoft runtime installation is therefore unlikely to restore it.
Common messages include:
- “The program can’t start because EP0NDW00.DLL is missing from your computer.”
- “Error loading EP0NDW00.DLL.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because EP0NDW00.DLL was not found.”
- “EP0NDW00.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
- “Failed to load EP0NDW00.DLL.”
These messages are Windows loader errors. They identify the file Windows attempted to load, but not necessarily the program that originally installed it.

Diagnose the cause before replacing anything
Check which application produces the message, where the file is located, and whether Windows considers the file trusted. The most useful clues are below.
| What you observe | Most likely explanation | Correct next step |
|---|---|---|
| Error appears after removing or updating an Epson printer | Epson software is incomplete or damaged | Reinstall the exact Epson printer package |
| File is absent from the Epson installation folder | Driver or printer utility was removed | Download the model-specific package from Epson |
| Windows Security quarantined the file | A legitimate driver may have been removed, or the file may be unsafe | Verify the source, then prefer a clean Epson reinstall |
File is under a user-profile folder such as %LOCALAPPDATA%ojics |
The copy may be unrelated to Epson and potentially unwanted | Scan it and investigate the originating program |
| Error comes from an unrelated application | That application may be loading a stray DLL by name | Inspect its executable path and installed software |
| Error began after a Windows change and several components fail | Windows component corruption is possible | Run Windows Update, DISM, and SFC |
| Printer works but an old utility fails | A legacy Epson utility may be incompatible | Reinstall the utility or use Windows’ built-in printer support |
Check the file location
- Press
Win+S, typeep0ndw00.dll, and select Search. - If Windows finds the file, right-click it and select Open file location.
- Right-click the file, choose Properties, and inspect General, Details, and Digital Signatures.
- Note the complete path and the name of the program or folder beside it.
- On the Digital Signatures tab, select any signature and choose Details.
A copy installed inside an Epson printer-driver or Epson utility directory is more consistent with the reported file identity. A copy in a random application directory, a temporary folder, or a user-profile folder needs more scrutiny.
Do not assume that a file belongs in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. Do not copy it into either folder merely because an error names a DLL.
A missing signature does not prove malware, particularly for older driver files. However, a suspicious path combined with an antivirus detection is a reason to quarantine and investigate rather than restore the file.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Fix 1: Reinstall the exact Epson printer package
This is the primary fix when the error is connected to an Epson printer, printer utility, print monitor, or spooler-related process.
Identify the printer model
- Open Settings with
Win+I. - Select Bluetooth & devices on Windows 11, or Devices on Windows 10.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Write down the exact Epson model shown.
- If the printer is not listed, check its label, packaging, or the old Epson shortcut.
Avoid choosing a driver based only on the filename ep0ndw00.dll. Several Epson generations may use similar components, and the correct package depends on the printer model and Windows architecture.
Remove the visibly broken Epson software
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Search for the Epson printer model, Epson printer software, Epson status monitor, or Epson maintenance utility.
- Select the affected entry and choose Uninstall.
- Follow the Epson uninstaller.
- Restart Windows.
If the printer still appears after uninstalling the application, remove it separately:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the Epson printer.
- Choose Remove and confirm.
- Restart Windows again.
Do not remove unrelated Epson printers if several models are installed. Multiple driver generations can coexist, and deleting the wrong package can create another printing problem.
Recommended Free Tools
Download and install from Epson
Use Epson’s official Support or Download Center website. Search for the exact printer model, select Windows 10 or Windows 11, and choose the package matching the installed architecture.
To check the architecture:
- Open Settings.
- Select System > About.
- Read System type.
- Note whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit.
A 32-bit printer utility can still be required on 64-bit Windows. Do not replace a legacy 32-bit component with a similarly named 64-bit DLL, and do not select a download based on file size.
Download the complete printer software package rather than a loose DLL. Run the installer as instructed, reconnect the printer when requested, and restart Windows after installation.
The repair worked if:
- The original program opens without the DLL message.
- The Epson utility displays the printer correctly.
- A Windows test page prints.
- The error does not return after another restart.
Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of hunting through driver versions and checking which installed devices are stale; its free scan shows the reported problems, while driver installation is handled by the full version. It is optional, and the exact Epson package remains the definitive fix for this file.

- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Select the event involving
ep0ndw00.dll. - Expand the event and read the detected path, threat name, and action.
Do not choose Allow on device simply because an Epson program reports the file as missing. First compare the path with the Epson installation location and check whether the file came from trusted Epson installation media.
In most cases, reinstalling the complete driver from Epson is safer than restoring an old quarantined copy. If the detected file was under %LOCALAPPDATA%ojics, a temporary directory, or an unrelated application folder, leave it quarantined and run a full Microsoft Defender scan:
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Scan options.
- Select Full scan.
- Choose Scan now.
If the scan finds additional items, follow Windows Security’s recommended quarantine action and investigate the program that created the file.
Fix 3: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use Windows repair tools when other protected Windows files are failing, Windows Update is damaged, or the problem began alongside broader system corruption. These tools do not normally restore a third-party Epson driver DLL.
First install pending updates:
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
Then open an elevated Command Prompt:
- Press
Win. - Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
Run these commands separately:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Wait for DISM to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
SFC should reach 100 percent and report whether it found and repaired protected system files. Restart Windows and test the Epson application again.
If DISM reports that it cannot find source files, install pending Windows updates and run the command again. If SFC reports that it could not repair some files, review the result and return to the Epson driver reinstall rather than repeatedly copying DLLs from elsewhere.
Outbyte PC Repair can make the manual process of checking for broader repair issues less repetitive; its free scan identifies reported problems, while repair is performed by the full version. It is optional, and DISM, SFC, and a clean Epson installation remain the appropriate Windows and driver paths.
Fix 4: Use Device Manager to remove an old printer driver
A broken package can remain after the printer has been removed from Settings.
- Press
Win+X. - Select Device Manager.
- Expand Print queues and Printers.
- Right-click the Epson device and select Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers Attempt to remove the driver for this device, select it only for the obsolete Epson device you are repairing.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current model-specific Epson package.
If the Epson device is not visible, select View > Show hidden devices and inspect faded Epson entries. Do not delete unrelated entries merely because they are old.
Some printer packages are managed through the legacy print-server interface:
- Press
Win+R. - Enter:
printui.exe /s /t2
- Press Enter.
- On the Drivers tab, select the Epson driver associated with the failed printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Select the option to remove the driver and driver package if Windows offers it.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the package from Epson.
If Windows says the driver is in use, stop the Print Spooler service temporarily, remove the package, restart the service, and then restart Windows:

System Restore is appropriate when printing worked immediately before a driver or software installation and a restore point exists.
Rank #3
- INNOVATIVE CARTRIDGE-FREE PRINTING — No more dealing with tiny, expensive ink cartridges; With this wireless printer each ink bottle set is equivalent to about 80 individual cartridges²
- LESS FREQUENT INK REPLACEMENT — Replacement ink bottles don't have to be changed nearly as often as ink cartridges¹; Color printer lets you print up to 4,500 black and white pages and 7,200 color³
- PRINT FOR LONGER — Up to 2 years of ink in the box⁴ (and with every replacement ink set) for fewer out-of-ink frustrations; This home printer keeps printing longer
- HIGH CAPACITY INK TANKS – Printer, scanner and copier utilizes Epson’s exclusive EcoFit ink bottles, making the refill process easy and worry-free
- ZERO CARTRIDGE WASTE — By using an Epson EcoTank printer you can help reduce the amount of cartridge waste ending up in landfills; Cartridge-free printer utilizes ink bottles for more convenience and less waste
- Press
Win+R. - Enter:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the programs and drivers that will change.
- Select Close, then Next.
- Confirm the restore.
System Restore does not replace a proper Epson installation. After the rollback, install the correct Epson package if the printer remains unavailable.
Why regsvr32 is usually wrong
Do not routinely run:
regsvr32 ep0ndw00.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by certain ActiveX or COM components. There is no verified evidence that ep0ndw00.dll is a self-registering COM DLL.
Registration cannot recreate a missing file, repair a damaged binary, install dependencies, or rebuild an Epson printer package. Use it only when the software vendor’s instructions specifically identify that DLL as a self-registering component.
If Epson no longer supports your Windows version
Do not obtain the DLL from a random download page. Such files can contain malware, use the wrong architecture, be incompatible with the printer utility, or leave the underlying driver package broken.
Check Epson’s product support page for a legacy driver or documented compatibility option. If no compatible Epson package exists, try Windows’ built-in printer support:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- Allow Windows to search.
- If the printer is not found, select Add manually.
- Choose the connection method and select a compatible built-in driver when offered.
- Print a test page.
This may restore basic printing without restoring every Epson utility feature. Do not claim success until the affected application and a test page both work.
FAQ
Is ep0ndw00.dll part of Windows?
No authoritative Microsoft documentation identifies it as a standard Windows system DLL. Public records associate it with Epson printer software.
Which Epson printer installed it?
No verified source identifies one specific printer model. The owning model depends on the Epson package installed on the computer.
Should I copy it into System32?
No. Copying a loose DLL into System32, SysWOW64, an application folder, or the Fonts directory can create architecture and dependency problems.
Is every copy of the file malware?
No. The filename alone is not enough to classify a file. Treat a copy in an unusual user-profile location, especially one detected by antivirus, as potentially unsafe until it is scanned and traced.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCan SFC restore it?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files. ep0ndw00.dll is associated with a third-party Epson driver, so reinstalling that driver is the relevant repair.
What if the error appears in a non-Epson program?
Inspect the application’s executable path and the DLL’s actual location. An unrelated application may be loading a stray file, or the file may belong to unwanted software rather than an Epson installation.
What if the error says “specified module could not be found”?
That message can mean the named DLL is missing, or that one of its dependencies is missing. Reinstall the complete Epson package instead of replacing only the named file.
