“The program can’t start because nlelogger.dll is missing from your computer.” If Windows reports that nlelogger.dll was not found or could not be loaded, the affected application is most likely Wondershare Filmora rather than Windows itself.
Which fix applies to you
Use this quick diagnosis before changing anything:
- The error appears only when Filmora starts: Repair or reinstall that Filmora installation first.
- It started after an update or failed installation: Remove the incomplete Filmora installation and install the matching release again.
- Windows Security shows a recent quarantine event: Verify the installer and file before restoring anything.
- You copied Filmora files between versions: Remove the mixed installation and reinstall one complete version.
- The file exists, but Windows says “specified module could not be found”: A dependency may be missing, not nlelogger.dll itself.
- Filmora came from an unofficial, modified, or repacked installer: Uninstall it and use the official Wondershare Filmora installer.
- Several unrelated applications also fail: Check Windows components with DISM and SFC.
- Only one Windows account has the problem: Test Filmora from a new local account to identify profile or permission damage.
What is nlelogger.dll
nlelogger.dll is an application DLL associated by public file indexes with Wondershare Filmora. It is not a verified Windows component, and there is no evidence that it belongs to Windows, DirectX, .NET, or the Visual C++ runtime.
The file should normally be inside Filmora’s own versioned installation directory. It should not be placed in C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or another global folder.
Public metadata for this DLL is incomplete. The exact Filmora release that originally shipped it, its architecture, exports, and official vendor specifications are not confirmed by a Wondershare page. Do not treat third-party catalog information about version, size, date, or hashes as authoritative.

A legitimate-looking filename is not proof that every copy is genuine. Malware can use the name of a real application file, especially when the file was obtained from an unofficial installer.
What the error actually means
Windows uses a loader to start an application and connect its required DLLs. When Filmora requests nlelogger.dll, several things can produce a similar message:
- The file was deleted or quarantined.
- Filmora was only partially installed.
- An update replaced some files but not others.
- The file is present but damaged.
- A dependency required by nlelogger.dll is missing.
- The DLL belongs to another Filmora release.
- A 32-bit and 64-bit component was mixed.
- Access permissions or security software blocked the load.
“Specified module could not be found” is especially misleading. It can mean that the named DLL is absent, but it can also mean that one of the DLL’s dependencies is absent.
Fix 1: Reinstall Filmora from Wondershare
This is the safest and most likely solution because nlelogger.dll belongs with the Filmora installation that needs it. Replacing one file manually can leave the rest of the application in a mismatched state.
Before uninstalling, make sure your project files are stored somewhere safe and that you know which Wondershare account or license you use.
Find the installed Filmora version
- Press
Windowsand typeFilmora. - Right-click the result and select Open file location.
- In File Explorer, right-click the Filmora shortcut and choose Properties.
- Check the Details tab for the product version, if Windows provides it.
- You can also open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Filmora and note the version shown.
If Filmora does not appear in Installed apps, the installation may be incomplete or may have been created by an unofficial package.
Uninstall the affected copy
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Filmora.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the affected version.
- Choose Uninstall and follow the prompts.
- Restart Windows.
Do not delete project folders unless you have confirmed that they contain no required media, templates, or project data.

Install a complete matching release
- Open the official Wondershare Filmora download page in your browser.
- Choose the Windows installer intended for your system.
- If you need an older Filmora version for an existing project, use Wondershare’s legacy-version route or contact Wondershare support rather than mixing files from different releases.
- Run the installer as an administrator if necessary. Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Complete the installation without interrupting it.
- Restart Windows once more.
- Launch Filmora from the Start menu.
A successful repair means Filmora opens without the nlelogger.dll message. Check the Filmora installation directory afterward if you need to confirm that the file was restored. Do not move it elsewhere.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software or ransomware protection can remove or block an application DLL. This is more likely if the error appeared immediately after Filmora worked normally.
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Privacy & security > Windows Security.
- Open Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving Filmora, nlelogger.dll, or the Filmora installation directory.
- Read the detection name, file path, and action taken.
Do not restore the file automatically. First verify that:
- Filmora was downloaded from Wondershare.
- The file path is inside the expected Filmora installation folder.
- The installer was not modified, cracked, or repacked.
- The file’s Properties > Digital Signatures tab contains a valid signature, when available.
If all of those checks are satisfactory, use the Windows Security action offered for that specific event and then reinstall Filmora from the official installer if the file remains absent. If antivirus repeatedly quarantines the file, stop restoring it blindly. Update security definitions, submit the detection for review, and contact Wondershare support.
Fix 3: Remove mixed or unofficial Filmora files
A DLL copied from another Filmora release may appear to solve the missing-file message while creating a different loader failure. Filmora versions can depend on different surrounding files, paths, and runtimes.
Do not combine files from Filmora 9, 10, 11, or newer releases. Do not use a DLL extracted from another computer unless it came from the same complete, trusted Filmora build, and even then a full reinstall is safer.
For an unofficial installation:
- Back up your Filmora projects and personal media.
- Uninstall Filmora from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Delete only leftover Filmora program folders if the uninstaller clearly leaves them behind and you have confirmed they contain no personal data.
- Download Filmora from Wondershare.
- Install one complete release.
- Start Filmora and sign in with the correct Wondershare account.
If the error disappears after this process, the original package was incomplete, damaged, or incompatible.

Fix 4: Check whether a dependency is missing
If nlelogger.dll exists in Filmora’s installation folder but Filmora still fails, the named file may not be the real missing component.
First confirm the application architecture:
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Check System type.
- Check Filmora’s official system requirements for the release you installed.
- Do not install a 32-bit component into a 64-bit application directory, or reverse.
Next, update Windows:
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart the computer.

- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click your graphics device.
- Choose Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows after any driver update.
- Launch Filmora again.

Reinstalling Filmora remains the definitive fix when the missing file belongs to Filmora.
Do not install Visual C++ merely because nlelogger.dll has a .dll extension. Install a runtime only when Filmora’s official requirements or Wondershare support specifically identifies it as missing.
Fix 5: Do not use regsvr32 for this problem
regsvr32 is designed to register DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a general-purpose missing-DLL repair command.
There is no public evidence establishing that nlelogger.dll is a self-registering COM DLL. Running this command is therefore unlikely to repair Filmora:

It may produce another error or encourage you to place the file in the wrong directory. Keep the DLL inside Filmora’s installation folder and repair the complete application instead.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and SFC repair Windows components. They do not normally reconstruct a private Filmora DLL, so use them after reinstalling Filmora or when other Windows applications are also failing.

- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command and wait for it to finish:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test Filmora again.
Microsoft documents this DISM-then-SFC sequence for repairing missing or corrupted Windows system files.

If Filmora works for another account, the problem may be limited to your profile, permissions, or a security policy.
- Open Settings > Accounts > Other users.
- Select Add account.
- Create a local test account.
- Sign in to that account.
- Launch Filmora.
If Filmora works there, avoid copying random DLLs. Check permissions on the Filmora installation directory, review controlled-folder access in Windows Security, and contact Wondershare support if your main profile remains affected.
You can also right-click the Filmora shortcut, select Properties > Compatibility, and test Run this program as an administrator temporarily. If that changes the result, a permissions or security-policy issue is more likely than a missing Windows DLL.

What not to do
Avoid these common responses:
- Downloading nlelogger.dll from a random DLL archive.
- Copying it into
System32orSysWOW64. - Replacing it with a file from another Filmora version.
- Running registry cleaners.
- Registering it with
regsvr32. - Disabling antivirus protection permanently.
- Installing random Visual C++ packages without evidence of a runtime problem.
Unofficial DLL downloads can contain malware, use the wrong architecture, belong to the wrong application version, or fail to restore the dependency that caused the loader error.

- The exact error text.
- Your Filmora version.
- Your Windows version.
- Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- The full Filmora installation path.
- Whether nlelogger.dll exists there.
- Any Windows Security quarantine event.
- Whether the error began after an update, cleanup, disk problem, or antivirus action.
- Whether Filmora starts when launched directly from its installation folder.
- Whether a new Windows account changes the result.
Use Wondershare’s Filmora support workflow to provide logs and installation details. If the problem followed a suspected disk failure or malware incident, check the drive and secure the computer before repeatedly reinstalling applications.

The strongest public identification is Wondershare Filmora. Wondershare does not appear to publish a detailed page documenting this DLL by name, so treat files outside a trusted Filmora installation with caution.
Should I download nlelogger.dll separately?
No. Reinstall the complete Filmora release from Wondershare. A standalone DLL may be malicious, mismatched, or unable to solve a missing dependency.
Should I install Visual C++?
Not automatically. A .dll extension does not prove that Visual C++ is the cause. Reinstall Filmora first and install a runtime only when official Filmora requirements or support identify it.
