“The program can’t start because tracker.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”
A tracker.dll error does not identify one universal file. tracker.dll is an application DLL, not a known Windows system DLL, so the correct repair depends on the program that requested it.
Which fix applies to you
Use this list before downloading or copying anything:
- The error appears when ARCHICAD starts: repair the ARCHICAD installation with its official installer. This is the most likely path for the 64-bit
22.0.0.3006file, which is approximately 0.35 MB. - The file Properties dialog mentions Syracuse Language or Tracker: treat it as a separate older application file. Do not replace it with an ARCHICAD file.
- The DLL exists in the application folder but Windows still reports it missing: the named file may be present while one of its dependencies is missing.
- The file disappeared after an update or security scan: check Windows Security Protection history before reinstalling.
- The error affects several unrelated programs: investigate Windows component corruption with DISM and SFC.
- The file is in
C:WindowsSystem32orC:WindowsSysWOW64: do not assume it is legitimate. A third-party application DLL normally belongs in the folder of the application that installed it. - You downloaded a replacement DLL: remove it and use the application’s official installer instead. A matching filename does not prove matching architecture, version, publisher, or safety.
1. Identify the application and the actual file
First determine which program is calling tracker.dll.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems#1 Best Overall

Check the error context
Note the program shown in the error or the shortcut you clicked. Also note whether the problem began after:
- An ARCHICAD update or reinstall
- An antivirus detection
- Disk cleanup
- Moving the application to another drive
- Restoring or migrating an older Windows installation
- Installing an older Tracker application
If the error appears during ARCHICAD startup, open another ARCHICAD component if possible and select Help → About ARCHICAD. Record the product version and language. An older application may require an exact older build rather than the newest installer.
Inspect the DLL if it is still present
Right-click the file, select Properties, and check the Details tab. Look for:
- Product name
- File description
- Company or publisher
- File version
- Architecture, if shown
- Original filename
Also check the Location field on the General tab. For ARCHICAD, the file should normally be under the ARCHICAD installation directory, not a Windows system directory.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The strongest public match for the supplied version is a 64-bit ARCHICAD 22 component with version 22.0.0.3006 and a size of roughly 358–360 KB. A separate older record associates tracker.dll with Syracuse Language’s Tracker program as a 32-bit file, version 1.0.0.0, and approximately 14 KB. These are unrelated files. Do not substitute one for the other.
2. Repair ARCHICAD from its official installer
Use this fix when the error occurs with ARCHICAD, especially when the file is the 64-bit 22.0.0.3006 variant.
Graphisoft’s official repair procedure addresses damaged or incomplete installations caused by interrupted updates, permissions, security software, or failed setup.
- Go to the official Graphisoft Downloads page.
- Select the matching ARCHICAD product, language, version, and Windows platform.
- Download the full installer. If a matching update is available, download that as well.
- Close ARCHICAD and related Graphisoft programs.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Allow the installer to detect the existing installation.
- Select Repair.
- Follow the prompts and restart Windows if requested.
- Run the matching ARCHICAD update after the repair completes.
- Start ARCHICAD and test the project that previously failed.
Repair can reset the application’s update state and remove installed add-ons. Reinstall compatible add-ons afterward if they are no longer available.
If ARCHICAD 22 is not listed in the current download area, use Graphisoft’s official legacy-download process. Older versions may require Graphisoft support access. ARCHICAD 22 is also a legacy release on current Windows versions and is listed as compatible but not maintained on Windows 11, so compatibility problems may remain even after a successful repair.
If Repair is unavailable or fails
Use the official installer to uninstall ARCHICAD, then follow Graphisoft’s clean-reinstall instructions. Restart Windows before installing again, and run the installer as administrator.
Do not copy tracker.dll from another computer unless you are managing a controlled deployment and have verified that the file comes from the same application build, architecture, and installation source.
3. Check antivirus quarantine
A security product may remove or block an application DLL during an update. Restore a file only after confirming that it belongs to the expected application and came from a trusted installation.

In Windows Security:
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Expand the detection related to
tracker.dll. - Check the original path, detection name, and action taken.
- If the file is clearly part of a trusted, digitally verifiable application, follow the available restore or allow option.
- If the detection is unclear, leave the file quarantined and repair or reinstall the application from its official source.
- Run a scan before launching the application again.
If the file is quarantined again immediately, stop repeatedly restoring it. Verify the application’s publisher and installation source, then investigate the security detection. A file with the correct name can still be malicious.
4. Repair a missing dependency
Windows may report “The specified module could not be found” even when tracker.dll exists. The missing item can be another DLL required by tracker.dll.
Repair the application first. If the program reports a specific runtime such as VCRUNTIME140.dll or MSVCP140.dll, install the appropriate official Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package. Use x86 for a 32-bit application and x64 for a 64-bit application. Do not install a runtime merely because the filename is tracker.dll; there is no evidence that tracker.dll is itself a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime file.
After installing the required runtime:
- Restart Windows.
- Start the affected application.
- If the same error remains, run the application’s installer Repair option again.
- If the application is old, verify that its architecture is compatible with the installed Windows version.
Do not use random DLL sites to obtain runtime files. Use Microsoft’s official Visual C++ Redistributable downloads or the application vendor’s installer.
5. Check Windows component integrity
Use this path when multiple applications fail, Windows updates are also malfunctioning, or system files appear damaged. It is less likely to restore a third-party application DLL than an application repair.
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run this command first:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. These commands repair Windows components and protected Windows files. They do not normally reinstall a missing ARCHICAD or other third-party application DLL.
If the commands report that they could not repair files, install pending Windows updates, restart, and repeat the sequence. If only one application still fails, return to that application’s official Repair or reinstall process.
Manually hunting through Windows components and repeating SFC or DISM without knowing what changed can be time-consuming. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for problems and show what needs attention; repair features are handled by the full version, but reinstalling the application that owns tracker.dll remains the definitive fix.
6. Update the application, Windows, and relevant drivers
An old application can fail after a Windows update, while a damaged installation can fail after an application update. Install the latest compatible application update from the vendor first, then install pending Windows updates.
To update Windows:
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
Drivers are not the usual cause of a missing application DLL, but update graphics, storage, or chipset drivers when the application also reports display, hardware, or access failures.
To check Device Manager:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters or Storage controllers.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart if Windows installs an update.
Do not use Device Manager to replace tracker.dll. It manages hardware drivers, not application DLLs.
Finding the correct driver model, vendor package, and architecture manually can involve checking many devices and versions. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify outdated drivers; the free scan shows the findings, while driver installation is handled by the full version. Updating drivers is secondary here, and it does not replace repairing the application that installed tracker.dll.

7. Do not copy the DLL or register it blindly
Avoid System32 and SysWOW64
On 64-bit Windows, System32 contains 64-bit system binaries and SysWOW64 contains 32-bit system binaries. Neither folder is a general storage location for application DLLs.
Copying tracker.dll into either directory can:
- Leave the application looking in the wrong location
- Create a 32-bit and 64-bit mismatch
- Cause another program to load an unintended file
- Hide the original installation problem
- Introduce malware
Place the file only through the original application installer.

Do not use regsvr32 as a general repair
regsvr32 is for DLLs that provide a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. Most application and runtime DLLs do not require registration. A command such as:
regsvr32 tracker.dll
will not repair a missing dependency, restore a damaged installation, or make an incompatible DLL load. Use it only when the application vendor specifically documents registration for that exact component.

Windows Features are usually irrelevant
Do not enable random Windows Features to fix tracker.dll. Features such as .NET Framework or legacy components should be installed only when the affected application explicitly requires them or Windows identifies the missing component.
8. Try System Restore only after identifying the change
If the error started immediately after a driver, update, or application change and System Restore is enabled, you can return Windows to an earlier restore point.
- Open Start and search for Create a restore point.
- Open it and select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the problem began.
- Review the affected programs.
- Start the restore and restart Windows.
System Restore changes system files and settings, but it is not a substitute for reinstalling a damaged application. Back up important work before proceeding.
FAQ
Is tracker.dll a Windows file?
There is no reliable evidence that Microsoft ships tracker.dll with Windows. Treat it as an application file and identify the program that requested it.
Which program uses tracker.dll?
The filename is shared by unrelated products. The strongest match for version 22.0.0.3006 is ARCHICAD 22. A separate legacy record associates a 32-bit version with Syracuse Language’s Tracker program.
Should I download tracker.dll?
No. Random DLL downloads can contain malware or the wrong version and architecture, and they often leave the underlying installation or dependency problem unresolved. Use the official installer for the application that owns the file.
Why does Windows say the module is missing when the file is present?
A required dependency may be missing, blocked, or incompatible. Repair the application, check security quarantine, and install only a runtime explicitly required by the application.
Will SFC restore tracker.dll?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files, while tracker.dll is a third-party application component. Use SFC after DISM only when there is evidence of broader Windows corruption.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Does a 32-bit application need a 32-bit DLL?
Yes. A 32-bit program generally needs its 32-bit dependencies, while a 64-bit program needs 64-bit dependencies. The 32-bit Syracuse Language record must not replace the 64-bit ARCHICAD variant.
What if the error affects only one Windows user?
Check that user’s permissions, redirected paths, and application settings. If every user sees the error, suspect an installation-wide problem and repair or reinstall the application.
