Fix 1: Reinstall the exact Canon printer package
This is the repair I would try first. A loose DLL replacement often leaves the rest of the Canon package missing, which simply produces the next loader error.
- Find the printer’s exact model name. Check the label on the printer, its control panel, or Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Open Canon’s official regional support site.
- Search for the exact model.
- Select your Windows version and system architecture.
- Download the model-specific MP Drivers, Printer Driver, or Full Driver & Software Package.
- If Canon provides separate packages, install the printer driver first. Add scanning or status software only if you use those features.
- In Windows, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Select the old Canon printer and choose Remove if the existing installation is clearly broken.
- Open Apps → Installed apps, search for Canon, and uninstall the related Canon printer software if the installer recommends a clean reinstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Right-click the Canon installer and select Run as administrator.
- Reconnect or add the printer only when the installer asks you to do so.
Do not substitute a driver for a similar-looking Canon model. A printer may print with a generic or neighboring-model driver while its original utility still fails because it is looking for a different file set.

Do not disable antivirus protection merely to copy a DLL downloaded elsewhere.
Fix 3: Remove stale Canon drivers and printer software
Several Canon driver generations can remain installed after printer replacement or a failed update.
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Remove unused or duplicate Canon printers.
- Open Apps → Installed apps.
- Uninstall old Canon printer utilities and driver packages that belong to removed devices.
- Restart Windows.
- Press Windows key + R, type
printui /s /t2, and press Enter. - In Print Server Properties, open the Drivers tab.
- Select an obsolete Canon driver and choose Remove.
- Choose Remove driver and driver package only when you are certain it is no longer used by another Canon printer.
- Restart Windows again.
- Install the current package for the exact printer model.
If Windows will not remove a driver because another printer uses it, cancel the removal, remove that printer first, and repeat the process. Do not delete random files from System32 or the Windows DriverStore.
Fix 4: Confirm the calling program and file location
The error may come from a Canon status monitor, scanner utility, startup entry, or printer setup program rather than from Windows itself.

Fix 5: Install the printer through Windows Update

Fix 6: Repair Windows components when other programs also fail
DISM and SFC repair protected Windows components. They are appropriate if several unrelated applications show corruption, Windows Update is failing, or Windows itself reports broader damage. They are unlikely to restore a Canon-owned DLL that was never part of the Windows image.

- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the Canon application again.
Microsoft’s official System File Checker guidance recommends running DISM before SFC.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test the printer after restarting. If it reports that it could not repair some files, run DISM again, restart, and repeat SFC once. Persistent Canon-only errors still require a Canon driver reinstall.

Do not copy the DLL manually
Avoid copying cnbbr339.dll into:

Downloading a DLL from a random DLL website also risks malware, the wrong version, and the wrong architecture. Reinstall the complete Canon package from Canon’s official support site instead.
