ep0lvr1f.dll is an Epson printer-driver component, not a general Windows runtime or a core Windows DLL. If Windows says it is missing or cannot load, reinstall the complete Epson printer package instead of downloading an isolated DLL.
What this file actually does
Public file records associate ep0lvr1f.dll with the Epson Printer Driver from SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION. It belongs to an older Epson driver family and may appear inside a Windows Driver Store path similar to:
C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepositoryprnep001.inf_...Amd64
or:
C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepositoryprnep00l.inf_...Amd64
The Driver Store can contain both Microsoft and non-Microsoft driver packages. Seeing this file under C:WindowsSystem32 therefore does not make it a core Windows component.
The exact Epson printer models associated with the file are not established. Several Epson packages may use related components, so the printer model, Windows version, error timing, and file path matter more than the filename alone.

- Innovative Cartridge-Free Printing ― High-capacity ink tanks mean no more tiny, expensive ink cartridges; Epson’s exclusive EcoFit ink bottles make filling easy and worry-free
- Impressive Print Quality ― Unique Micro Piezo Heat-Free Technology produces sharp text – plus impressive color photos and graphics – on virtually any paper type
- Zero Cartridge Waste – By using an EcoTank printer, you can help reduce the amount of cartridge waste ending up in landfills
- Built-in Scanner & Copier ― High-resolution flatbed scanner and a color display for easy document copying and navigation
Do not assume every copy has the same architecture, file size, version, or checksum. Public records disagree about those details, and an Amd64 folder does not by itself prove that the DLL is an x64 binary.
Causes of ep0lvr1f.dll errors
| Symptom | Likely cause | Best first fix |
|---|---|---|
| Error appears when printing | Incomplete or damaged Epson driver | Remove and reinstall the printer |
| Error starts after a Windows update | Old driver replaced or made incompatible | Install a current model-specific driver |
| Error appears at Windows sign-in | Leftover Epson utility or startup entry | Remove obsolete Epson software |
| Windows says “specified module could not be found” | Missing DLL or missing dependency | Reinstall the complete driver package |
| Antivirus quarantined the file | Security detection or false positive | Review Protection history before restoring |
| “Not designed to run on Windows” appears | Corruption, wrong architecture, or dependency damage | Reinstall the matching driver package |
| Error appears in an unrelated game or app | Incorrect association or unusual software reference | Check the requesting process and full path |
The message “specified module could not be found” does not always mean that ep0lvr1f.dll itself is absent. Windows may be finding the DLL but failing to locate another file that it needs.
Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the Epson printer
This is the most likely solution because a printer driver is a package, not just one DLL. Reinstalling the package restores the INF file, catalog, configuration files, dependent components, and the correct Driver Store registration.
Remove the current printer
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the Epson printer producing the error.
- Click Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows.
After restarting:
- Open Settings again.
- Go to Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- Let Windows search for the printer.
- Select the Epson printer when it appears.
- Print a test page.
If Windows installs a working driver and the error does not return, the repair is complete.
Install the Epson package when Windows cannot find a driver
Find the exact model name from the printer itself, its old box or documentation, or the previous printer entry in Windows. Do not choose a driver merely because it mentions Epson.
Use the official Epson support site, search for the exact model, select your Windows version, and install the listed printer driver or complete printer software package. Restart Windows after installation, then print a test page.
If the Epson installer offers multiple packages, choose the package intended for your Windows version and printer model. Avoid mixing an old utility with a newer driver unless the Epson installer requires it.
Check Windows Update driver offerings
Windows may provide a compatible driver without requiring the original Epson installer:
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Advanced options.
- Open Optional updates.
- Expand Driver updates.
- Select an Epson printer driver if one is listed.
- Click Download & install.
- Restart Windows and test the printer.
Microsoft recommends Windows Update first, followed by the printer manufacturer’s support page if Windows does not provide a suitable driver.
If you regularly have to identify which of many installed drivers is outdated, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver problems and show what needs attention; its free scan identifies issues, while repair and driver installation require the full version. It is optional, and the exact Epson model-specific package remains the preferred source.
Fix 2: Check the driver in Device Manager
Device Manager can reveal whether Windows still has a broken Epson device entry.
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers or Print queues.
- Look for the Epson printer.
- Right-click it and select Properties.
- Check the General tab for a device status message.
- Open the Driver tab and note the provider and date.
- Select Update Driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
If Windows reports that the best driver is already installed but the error continues, return to the Driver tab and select Uninstall Device. If Windows offers to remove the driver package, select that option only when you intend to reinstall the printer afterward. Restart the computer, then add the printer again through Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.

Fix 3: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
A missing Epson DLL can be the result of quarantine, but a familiar filename is not proof that a file is safe.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Open any detection associated with the Epson driver.
- Check the original file path and detection details.
Restore the file only when it clearly belongs to a correctly installed Epson package and the security details are trustworthy. Microsoft warns that a restored file may be detected again. Do not override a genuine malware detection merely because the filename is associated with an Epson driver.
If the file was quarantined, reinstall the Epson package from the official source instead of repeatedly restoring the old copy. Run a full scan if the detection is unclear or if other unusual symptoms are present.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and System File Checker are useful when Windows components or servicing operations are damaged. They are not substitutes for reinstalling a third-party Epson driver, but they can repair Windows corruption that prevents driver installation.
First, open an elevated Command Prompt:
- Open the Start menu.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for the command to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows when both commands complete. Remove and reinstall the Epson printer again, then print a test page.
If DISM reports that it cannot complete the repair, restart Windows and run the command again. If SFC reports that it found corrupt files but could not repair some of them, repeat the process after DISM has completed successfully. Persistent failures point to broader Windows servicing damage rather than a missing Epson DLL alone.
If repeatedly hunting through Windows components and interpreting DISM and SFC results is becoming the difficult part, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for system problems and show what needs attention; its free scan identifies issues, while repair requires the full version. It is optional, and reinstalling the Epson driver is still the definitive repair for this printer-specific file.
Fix 5: Remove leftover Epson software
If the error appears during startup or sign-in instead of when printing, an obsolete Epson utility may still be trying to load the DLL.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Search for Epson.
- Remove utilities that belong to the old printer installation.
- Restart Windows.
- Install only the current package for the printer model.
Also check Task Manager:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for an obsolete Epson entry.
- Select it and click Disable.
- Restart Windows.
If the error disappears at startup but printing no longer works, reinstall the correct printer package rather than leaving the old utility disabled indefinitely.
Fix 6: Handle Driver Store problems safely
Do not delete ep0lvr1f.dll from DriverStoreFileRepository, and do not manually copy another DLL into that folder. Microsoft says Driver Store packages should not be directly added, removed, or modified. Windows uses the INF and catalog information to install and validate a driver correctly.
For advanced troubleshooting, open an elevated Command Prompt and list installed third-party driver packages:

Look for an Epson-related published package. Do not remove a package unless you have identified the exact printer association and have a replacement package ready. Driver removal should be performed through supported Windows driver-management procedures, followed by a clean Epson installation.

Random DLL download sites sites can provide malware, an incorrect version, or a binary built for the wrong architecture. Even a genuine-looking replacement may not fix the problem because the missing dependency, INF registration, catalog file, or printer configuration is still absent.

Copying the file into C:WindowsSystem32 can also create a mismatched installation. The correct Epson driver package decides where its files belong and how Windows loads them.
ep0lvr1f.dll is normally not repaired with regsvr32. That command is intended for self-registering DLLs that export DllRegisterServer. Printer-driver files are normally installed through an INF-based driver package. If you run:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →regsvr32 ep0lvr1f.dll
and receive a message that DllRegisterServer was not found, that means the DLL is not a self-registering COM component. Downloading another copy will not change that.
Fix 7: Use System Restore when the timing is clear
System Restore is appropriate when the error began immediately after a driver installation, Windows update, or cleanup operation and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point from before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs.
- Review the changes.
- Complete the restore.
- Restart Windows and test printing.
Use this only when the timing is clear. After restoring, install the correct Epson driver rather than relying on an old package indefinitely.
If the error still appears
Record these details before trying another repair:
- Exact Epson printer model
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 edition and build
- Whether the error appears during startup or printing
- The complete error text
- The full path shown in the error or Event Viewer
- Whether antivirus quarantined the file
- Whether the printer worked before a Windows or driver change
If an unrelated game or application requests ep0lvr1f.dll, check the full path and the process name. That is atypical for this file. Do not assume the game needs an Epson DLL until the requesting program and path have been verified.

Is ep0lvr1f.dll a Windows file?
It may have been included in an older Epson printer package staged in the Windows Driver Store, but it is not a general-purpose Windows core DLL. It belongs to an Epson printer-driver family.
Which Epson printer uses ep0lvr1f.dll?
The available evidence identifies a shared Epson driver family, not one definitive printer model. Identify the model from the installed printer, old package, or error path before downloading or installing anything.
Should I copy ep0lvr1f.dll to System32?
No. Install the complete Epson driver package. Manual copying can leave the INF, catalog, dependencies, and printer configuration missing.
Should I install Visual C++ or DirectX?
There is no evidence that Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET is the correct repair for this Epson printer-driver component. Start with the Epson driver package and Windows Update.

Does a missing DLL prove malware?
No. Incomplete installation, driver replacement, corruption, quarantine, and leftover startup entries can all cause this error. Scan the system if the file path or detection is suspicious, but do not label the file malware solely because it is missing.
What is the safest final test?
After reinstalling the correct Epson package, restart Windows and print a test page. If printing works and the error no longer appears at startup, the driver installation has been restored.
