Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutekrdevui.dll may appear in messages such as “The program can’t start because krdevui.dll is missing,” “krdevui.dll was not found,” or “Error loading krdevui.dll.” On Windows 11 and Windows 10, this file belongs to the Kirikiri/TVP application ecosystem, not to Windows itself.
The safest repair is to identify the game or program that displayed the error, then verify or reinstall that complete application. Do not begin by downloading a replacement DLL or copying one into System32.
Which fix applies to you
Use the first description that matches what you see:
- A Kirikiri-based game, visual novel, launcher, or development tool will not start: verify its files or reinstall it from the original trusted distribution.
- The application was extracted from an archive, patched, repacked, or moved: extract or restore the complete package, including its startup script and archive files.
- Windows Security recently quarantined a file: inspect Protection history before restoring anything.
- The message says the DLL is invalid or not designed to run on Windows: replace the complete application directory with a clean, matching copy.
- The message says a different DLL is missing: repair that named dependency separately. Do not assume
krdevui.dllis the only problem. - Several unrelated Windows programs are failing: check Windows components with DISM and SFC.
- Only a device or graphics-related application is failing: update the relevant driver, but do not treat a driver update as the normal fix for
krdevui.dll.
What krdevui.dll does
The name refers to the Kirikiri Development User Interface. Kirikiri is a Windows engine and development environment used by some games, visual novels, tools, and related distributions. krdevui.dll supplies development-oriented functions, including tools associated with archiving and loop tuning.

Kirikiri documentation also describes a situation where the engine uses this shared DLL when it cannot locate its startup script and needs to show a folder or archive-selection dialog. That means a krdevui.dll message can be a symptom of a broken application layout, missing data.xp3, failed extraction, or an incorrect working folder.
It is not a Windows component. It should not normally be installed in:
C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64- The Windows directory
- A general-purpose folder added to
PATH
Some public file indexes list a particular 32-bit build and version, but those details are not confirmed official release metadata. Do not use an index entry as proof that one DLL is correct for every Kirikiri application.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the affected application
This is the most likely solution.
Identify the application
- Note the program name shown in the error window.
- Right-click the program’s shortcut and select Open file location.
- If the shortcut opens another shortcut, right-click the target again and select Open file location.
- Look in that folder for signs of a Kirikiri or TVP program, such as:
krkr.exetvpwin32.exetvpwin64.exedata.xp3- A
toolsfolder - A reference to
krdevui.dll - Check the Recycle Bin for a recently deleted file from the same application folder.
Do not copy a DLL from the Recycle Bin into a Windows system folder. If the correct file was deleted, restoring the application package is safer.

Verify the files
If the game or program came from a store or launcher:
- Open the launcher.
- Select the affected game or application.
- Open its Manage, Properties, or Settings page.
- Choose Verify, Verify integrity, Repair, or the equivalent option.
- Wait for the scan to finish.
- Start the application again from its normal shortcut.
A successful repair normally restores the application’s own files and allows it to start without a krdevui.dll message. If verification reports missing or modified files but cannot repair them, uninstall and reinstall the application.
Reinstall from the original source
- Back up save files and user-created data first. Common locations include the application folder, Documents, and AppData, but the exact location varies.
- Uninstall the affected application from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Download or obtain the application again from its original publisher, store, installer, or legitimate project distribution.
- Install or extract it to a new local folder.
- Start it from that installation folder.
If the application is distributed as an archive, extract the entire archive with a reliable extractor. Do not run the executable while it is still inside a compressed file, and do not move only the executable away from its accompanying archives.
A clean extraction to a short path such as C:GamesProgramName can help when a long path, permissions issue, or incomplete extraction is involved. If the fresh copy still fails, compare the complete directory with the original package rather than adding individual DLLs.

A Kirikiri program may request krdevui.dll because it cannot find the file that tells the engine what to start.
Check the application folder for the expected archive or data files, including data.xp3 where the application normally uses that name. Also check that:
- The executable and its data files remain together.
- The folder was not partially extracted.
- A patch was applied to the correct original version.
- The program was not started from a shortcut with an incorrect Start in folder.
- Cloud-sync or cleanup software did not remove large archive files.
- The application was not moved without moving its complete directory.
To inspect the shortcut:
- Right-click it and choose Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Check Target and Start in.
- Make sure they point to the repaired application folder.
- Select Apply, then start the program again.
If the application requires a specific launcher, use that launcher instead of starting an executable copied elsewhere.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software may remove or quarantine a file from an unofficial patch, modified game, or legitimate application package.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review recent detections and expand any item associated with the affected application.
- Confirm the file path and the source of the application.
Only restore or allow the file when you have confirmed that the application came from a trusted, legitimate source and that the file belongs to that package. Microsoft warns that restoring a quarantined file can expose the device if the detection is valid. If the source is uncertain, remove the unofficial package and reinstall an authentic copy instead.
After a trusted file is restored, run the application’s file verification or reinstall it. Do not permanently disable antivirus protection merely to make an unknown DLL load.
Fix 4: Replace an invalid or mismatched DLL with the complete package
Messages such as “krdevui.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error” indicate that Windows could not load the file correctly. Possible causes include corruption, an incompatible build, a wrong architecture, or a missing dependency. The message does not prove that the file is malware, and it does not mean Windows owns the file.
Replace the complete application folder rather than replacing only the DLL:
- Close the program.
- Rename the existing folder, or move it to a backup location after saving user data.
- Install or extract a clean copy from the original source.
- Start the application from the new folder.
Do not mix a DLL from another Kirikiri build. Windows searches the application directory during normal DLL loading, so application-local repair is safer than placing a file in System32 or SysWOW64.
A 32-bit application may use tvpwin32.exe; a 64-bit application may use tvpwin64.exe. The DLL must match the application and its build. The names System32 and SysWOW64 are Windows architecture locations, not instructions for manually storing third-party DLLs.
Fix 5: Investigate dependencies named by the complete error
“Specified module could not be found” can mean that a dependency required by krdevui.dll is missing, not necessarily that krdevui.dll itself is absent.
Read the entire error carefully. If it names a Microsoft runtime such as VCRUNTIME140.dll, install or repair the matching Microsoft Visual C++ package from Microsoft’s official download documentation. If it names DirectX, .NET, or another component, follow the official requirement for the application. Do not install these runtimes merely because krdevui.dll is missing; there is no verified Microsoft runtime package dedicated to this file.

You can check optional Windows components when the application specifically requires them:
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
optionalfeatures. - Press Enter.
- Enable only the feature named by the application’s documentation or error.
- Select OK and restart if Windows requests it.
For example, do not enable an unrelated .NET feature as a generic DLL repair. The application’s own requirements should determine the change.
Fix 6: Repair broader Windows corruption
Use this step only when multiple unrelated applications show corruption symptoms. DISM and SFC repair protected Windows components; they do not reinstall an arbitrary third-party application DLL.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application again.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test the program after restarting. If the error remains, return to the application repair steps because these commands do not restore krdevui.dll from a game or tool package.
Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can waste time while leaving the damaged application untouched. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for broader repair issues and show what it identifies, while its repair functions require the full version; reinstalling the affected Kirikiri application remains the definitive fix for this file.
Fix 7: Update drivers only when the evidence points there
A graphics or device driver is not the normal source of a missing krdevui.dll file. Consider a driver update only if the complete error also names a display, audio, input, or other device component, or if unrelated programs show device-specific failures.
To check manually:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters.
- Right-click the device and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab and note the provider and date.
- Select Update Driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers, or install a package obtained from the device manufacturer.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of hunting through Device Manager and identifying stale drivers; its free scan shows detected issues, while driver installation through the full version is optional. A driver update does not replace the need to reinstall the specific application that owns krdevui.dll.
Why you should not use regsvr32
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, typically COM or ActiveX components. An application-support DLL such as krdevui.dll is not established as a COM server.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Running commands such as these is therefore not a normal repair:
Rank #4
regsvr32 krdevui.dll
regsvr32 C:WindowsSystem32krdevui.dll
Registration cannot recreate a missing file, correct a mismatched architecture, restore a missing data.xp3, or repair a failed extraction. Use regsvr32 only when the application’s developer explicitly identifies that exact DLL as a registrable component and provides the correct command.
Avoid random DLL downloads
Random DLL download sites can provide malware, an incorrect build, the wrong architecture, or a file missing its own dependencies. Even a clean file may not fix the broken application layout that caused the error.
The safe sources are:
- The original game or program installer
- The publisher or developer distribution
- A trusted store’s file verification and repair system
- A legitimate project package supplied by the application’s maintainer
Do not whitelist an unknown file just because its name is krdevui.dll.
FAQ
Is krdevui.dll part of Windows?
No. It is associated with the Kirikiri/TVP ecosystem and should normally remain with the application that supplied it.
Should I copy it to System32 or SysWOW64?
No. Copying it there can create conflicts and security exposure. Repair the application directory instead.
Do I need Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Only when the complete error or the application’s documentation names that dependency. krdevui.dll itself is not established as a Microsoft redistributable file.
Why did the error appear after moving the game?
Kirikiri may no longer be able to locate its startup script or archive. Restore the original folder structure and start the program from its correct launcher or shortcut.
What if reinstalling does not help?
Perform a clean extraction to a new short local path, inspect antivirus Protection history, confirm that the required archive files are present, and check whether the application is 32-bit or 64-bit. If the clean package still fails, contact the application maintainer with the exact error, executable name, Windows version, and whether krkr.exe, tvpwin32.exe, tvpwin64.exe, or data.xp3 is present.
Prevent the error from returning
Keep the application’s files together, avoid applying patches to the wrong build, and retain the original installer or archive. Back up save data before repairs, use the application’s built-in verification feature when available, and treat unexpected antivirus detections as a source-validation problem rather than a reason to download a replacement DLL.
