The right location depends on whether you need beginner-friendly catches, Bestiary progress, money, XP, Mythical fish, or access to a specialized area. Start at Moosewood, move to Roslit Bay for broader fish pools, and target Forsaken Shores or Grand Reef when you are equipped for higher-value catches.
The eight best fishing spots in Fisch
The coordinates below are GPS positions reported by current Fisch location guides. They identify fishing areas, not necessarily a verified in-game menu path or command. If a coordinate does not place you exactly at the water, use it as a nearby landmark and check the surrounding pool, shoreline, or island interior.

1. Moosewood Docks: the best beginner ocean spot
GPS: (360, 130, 235)
Moosewood Docks is the safest starting point for ocean fishing. The main fish listed for this area are Snook and Flounder. It is also convenient because Moosewood is the first island and includes important early-game services: the Appraiser, Marc the Merchant, the Inn Keeper, the Shipwright, tutorial NPCs, and quest NPCs.
Choose the docks when you are learning the fishing minigame, selling catches frequently, or upgrading basic equipment. It is not the strongest destination for late-game cash, but its access and nearby services make it the most practical first stop.

2. Moosewood Freshwater: the best starter Bestiary pool
GPS: (515, 150, 300)
The freshwater pool on Moosewood is a useful alternative to the docks. Its listed fish are Largemouth Bass, Bream, Goldfish, and Carp. Because it is on the starting island, it is well suited to early Bestiary entries and practice without requiring a long boat trip.
Use this pool when you want freshwater species specifically, are filling out early collections, or need a low-friction place to learn how different fish behave. Moosewood has two distinct fishing environments, so do not treat the island’s docks and freshwater pool as the same fish table.
3. Roslit Bay Freshwater: a strong early/mid-game freshwater location
GPS: (-1785, 150, 635)
Roslit Bay is west of Moosewood, and its freshwater area offers a much wider target list. The listed fish include Minnow, Perch, Pumpkinseed, Arapaima, Chub, Alligator Gar, and Suckermouth Catfish.
This is a good next step when Moosewood’s starter pools no longer provide enough Bestiary progress. The area combines common catches for steady fishing with larger or less common entries that make it more valuable for collection-focused players. Bring enough inventory space if you intend to stay until you complete several entries rather than selling after every few catches.

GPS: (-1520, 130, 610)
The Roslit Bay Reef should be treated as a separate fishing area rather than lumped together with Roslit Bay’s freshwater pool. Its listed fish are Blue Tang, Angelfish, Ribbon Eel, Butterflyfish, Clownfish, and Pufferfish.
Go here when your goal is reef-specific Bestiary completion. If you are missing an ocean or reef entry, changing from the freshwater coordinates to the reef coordinates matters: nearby areas can have substantially different fish pools even when they belong to the same island.

5. Roslit Bay Volcano: specialized lava fishing
GPS: (-1915, 165, 310)
The volcano is one of Fisch‘s specialized fishing locations. The area becomes a fishing spot after you acquire the Magma Rod. Listed catches and resources include Magma Tang, Basalt, Ember Perch, Pyrogrub, Ember Snapper, Obsidian Salmon, Volcanic Geode, and Obsidian Swordfish.
This is not an efficient recommendation for a brand-new player because access depends on the Magma Rod. Once you have it, the volcano is the logical destination for completing lava-related entries and gathering its unique resources. Do not assume a normal rod will make this area productive simply because you can reach the island.

Island GPS: (-2427, 133, 1557)
The interior pond at Forsaken Shores is a mid-game target centered on the Captain’s Goldfish, listed as a Mythical catch. The source guide recommends Truffle Worms as bait. Other fish listed for the island include Golden Seahorse, Shipwreck Barracuda, Cursed Eel, Reefrunner Snapper, Cutlass Fish, Scurvy Sailfish, Galleon Goliath, Buccaneer Barracuda, Shortfin Mako Shark, and Corsair Grouper.
One guide reports an average value of approximately 1,632 C$ and 2,800 base XP for Captain’s Goldfish. These are guide-reported averages, not guaranteed rewards for every catch. Your actual results can vary with the fish caught, mutations, equipment, and other game conditions.
Forsaken Shores is a sensible choice when you want a stronger money-and-XP loop than the starter islands but are not yet specializing in the highest-end destinations. Bring Truffle Worms and enough inventory capacity to avoid interrupting a productive session.
7. Grand Reef: an advanced profit target
GPS reported by a current guide: (-3576, 151, 523)
Grand Reef is aimed at better-equipped players. Its primary target in the cited guide is the Mythical Grand Reef Guardian, with recommended preparation including Truffle Worms, durable fishing equipment, and ample inventory space.

The same guide reports approximately 5,250 C$ and 3,500 base XP for the Grand Reef Guardian. Treat those numbers as reported reference values rather than guaranteed per-catch rewards. They should help you understand why Grand Reef is considered an advanced target, not promise a fixed payout.
Grand Reef is most worthwhile when your rod and supplies can handle a longer session. If you are still losing catches, running out of bait, or returning to sell after only a few fish, a less demanding location may produce better practical results.
8. Ancient Isle: the late-game specialization area
Ancient Isle is best viewed as a late-game Bestiary and rare-fish destination rather than a universal money-making answer. Its listed fish include Cladoselache, Piranha, Starfish, Onychodus, Anomalocaris, Hyneria, Xiphactinus, Acanthodii, Hallucigenia, Cobia, Leedsichthys, Ginsu Shark, Floppy, Dunkleosteus, Mosasaurus, Megalodon, Ancient Megalodon, and Helicoprion. Event fish such as Phantom Megalodon may also be associated with the area when the relevant event is active.
The island also contains Meg’s Fang, Meg’s Spine, gemstones, fragments, and NPCs including Chiseler, Meteoriticist, Angler, Merchant, Shipwright, and Innkeeper. That combination makes Ancient Isle valuable for players pursuing rare collections and island-specific progression.
Choose it because you need its fossils, rare fish, resources, or NPCs—not because every player will earn more there than elsewhere. A location is only “best” if your equipment and objective match its catches.
How to choose the best spot for your goal
- New player: Start at Moosewood Docks or Moosewood Freshwater.
- Early Bestiary completion: Work through Moosewood, then move to Roslit Bay Freshwater and Roslit Bay Reef.
- Reef entries: Fish the Roslit Bay Reef specifically.
- Lava entries: Unlock the Magma Rod and fish Roslit Bay Volcano.
- Money and XP: Try the Forsaken Shores pond, then Grand Reef when your gear and inventory support longer sessions.
- Fossils and rare fish: Focus on Ancient Isle.
Guides also frame location choice around your rod, bait, available money, and exact target rather than naming one permanent winner. Fish pools and guide classifications can change between game versions, so use the named area and target fish as the dependable part of the recommendation.

Access requirements and common failure points
Deep Ocean is not the same as island-adjacent water
Farther ocean areas require a boat. Fishing near an island should not be treated as fishing in the Deep Ocean, because the water zone can determine which fish are available. If you are hunting an ocean entry and the expected fish do not appear, first confirm that you are in the correct water environment.
The Abyss and Vertigo
The current location guide says to jump into a whirlpool to teleport to The Abyss. Leaving requires buying a Conception Shell from the Synth NPC. Do not enter without planning how you will exit.

Keeper’s Altar
To enter the altar area, speak with Cole inside the cave by the Statue of Sovereignty and pay $400. The altar is used to enchant rods with an Enchant Relic.
Ancient Archives
Access requires waiting for an Eclipse event and collecting the correct Solar Fragments. Reaching the general region does not by itself guarantee access.
Northern Summit
The Northern Summit is reached through the Northern Expedition portal. Navigation requires a Winter Cloak and Oxygen Tanks; the tanks can be upgraded and refilled. Prepare those supplies before attempting the route.
Atlantis and the Kraken Pool
Access Atlantis by using the Heart of Zeus while standing on Grand Reef. The Kraken Pool unlocks after you complete four Mythological Clocks.

Drylands
Standard rods cannot reach the sand-buried fish in Drylands. The cited guide says you need the Marrow Rod, obtained by completing the quest from Paleontologist Petri. It gives the Drylands entrance as (-24497, 2683, -5386) and Petri’s position as (-23924, 2696, -6213).
Drylands has an important bait edge case: the guide lists Bagel as the only bait for the Legendary Claypan Guppy. It also lists Cacti Pulp, Fish Head, Shrimp, Worm, Insect, and Bagel among the area’s bait requirements, while several relic and fossil catches are listed without bait.
Names and claims to avoid
Some online lists are not reliable for this game. “Hotspot A” through “Hotspot H,” waypoint labels such as WP-128/64, and references to “tiles,” “golden minnow,” “Patch Rae/Season 1,” or a “tier-2 rod” do not match the named Fisch locations and mechanics documented by the current location references. Use Moosewood, Roslit Bay, Forsaken Shores, Grand Reef, Ancient Isle, and other named areas instead.
Also use Forsaken Shores, not “Forsaken Shoals,” unless the name is confirmed in your current game version. Winter Village is identified in the location reference as Winter Village (Fischmas 2024), a limited-time event island, so it should not be treated as a permanent recommendation without confirming that the event is active.
Finally, avoid quoting one definitive total for Ocean fish. One guide reports 37 fish in the wider Ocean, while another reports 57 exclusive Ocean fish. The difference likely reflects different definitions or game versions. Named sublocations and their documented fish pools are more useful than an unsupported overall total.
