It is a reasonable choice for casual racers, truck-sim players, and driving-game fans. It is not a genuine entry-level sim-racing wheelbase, because it has vibration effects rather than true force feedback.
That distinction matters more than its 900-degree steering range or included clutch. If you want to feel steering load, understeer, kerbs, and tire slip through the wheel, buy a force-feedback model instead.
PXN V9: original model or V9 Gen2?
“PXN V9” can refer to two related products. The original V9 is still encountered through retailers, while PXN currently presents the V9 Gen2 as a separate model.
The original V9 documentation lists a roughly 280 mm wheel, selectable 270° or 900° rotation, three pedals, a 6+1 shifter, wired USB, desktop mounting hardware, and an approximate 2.36 kg weight. The Gen2 product page lists similar wheel dimensions and rotation, but specifically advertises Hall-effect pedal sensors and adaptive vibration feedback.

Do not assume that Gen2 features apply to every listing simply labelled “V9.” Check the model name, photographs, included accessories, and manual before buying.
The most important fact: it has no true force feedback
The V9 does not use a force-feedback motor to reproduce steering resistance. It provides vibration or adaptive vibration effects instead. PXN explicitly describes the Gen2 as lacking true force feedback, and independent coverage from OC Racing identifies the same limitation.

Vibration can make impacts or road effects more noticeable, but it cannot communicate the progressive force buildup that helps a driver sense front-tire loading, loss of grip, or countersteering requirements. A selectable 900° range also does not guarantee realistic steering: rotation range says little about smoothness, precision, centering, latency, or feedback detail.
What comes in the bundle?
The V9’s strongest argument is completeness. Depending on the revision and retailer bundle, you generally get:

- A steering wheel
- A three-pedal unit with accelerator, brake, and clutch
- A 6+1 H-pattern shifter
- Desktop clamps or suction-cup mounting hardware
- A wired connection
The shifter may also provide additional controls that can be assigned as a handbrake or high/low control in some truck games. That makes the V9 more immediately usable for manual-driving and truck-simulation setups than a wheel sold with only two pedals.
However, three pedals do not automatically mean realistic pedals. The important questions are whether the axes remain independent, whether the game calibrates their full travel, whether the brake is progressive or simply axis-based, and whether the pedal unit moves during hard braking.

Platforms and the PS5 warning
The original V9 manual lists support for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 listed for PC use. The Gen2 page lists PC, PS4, Xbox One/Series, and Switch.
Do not buy it for PS5 without independently confirming the exact setup. PXN’s current game-support list specifically excludes the V9 Gen2 from PS5 support. PS4 compatibility does not automatically extend to the PS5 console or PS5 versions of games.
Console support is also more conditional than a simple platform checklist suggests. Recognition can depend on the game, input mode, startup order, and whether the title supports a separate wheel and H-pattern shifter.
PC setup: choose the correct input mode
On PC, the original V9 defaults to X-input mode. This makes it behave more like a conventional game controller, which can help with some games but can prevent the clutch, brake, and H-pattern shifter from appearing as separate controls.
For steering-wheel mode and separate clutch/brake operation, PXN says to switch to D-input:
- Connect the pedals and shifter to the wheel.
- Connect the wheel directly to the PC.
- Hold the MODE button for about three seconds.
- Release it when the red indicator begins flashing.
- Wait for the indicator to remain on.
- Launch or reopen the game, then assign the controls manually.
PXN’s FAQ describes X-input as controller mode and D-input as steering-wheel mode. Some games accept only X-input, so there is no universal best setting.

Test the hardware before configuring a game
On Windows, open the game-controller settings through Settings or Control Panel, select the PXN device, choose Properties, and test the wheel, pedals, buttons, and shifter. If an axis is missing there, changing in-game bindings will not solve the problem.
Forza Horizon is a specific example of why game-by-game setup matters. PXN advises users who cannot play it on PC to switch from D-input to X-input and enable the relevant “PRO wired connection” function in PXN settings. Treat that as title- and revision-dependent guidance, not a universal fix.
How useful is the shifter?
The 6+1 H-pattern shifter is valuable when the game supports it, but its presence on the desk does not guarantee that it will work everywhere.
PXN states that controller mode behaves like a standard controller. Because a standard controller has no separate H-pattern shifter, the shifter generally requires D-input or dedicated wheel support. On Xbox and PS4, recognition may also depend on connecting the shifter before startup and whether the game exposes wheel and shifter settings.

When the shifter is not detected, check that:
- The game supports a separate H-pattern shifter.
- The wheel is in D-input or steering-wheel mode on PC.
- The shifter was connected before the wheel was powered.
- The game is not seeing the entire device only as an Xbox-style controller.
- Clutch and gear bindings have been assigned manually.
In other words, the shifter is a real hardware advantage for the right games, but not a guaranteed universal feature.
Which games suit the PXN V9?
The V9 makes the most sense in games where physical controls and a large steering range are more important than detailed wheel feedback. PXN’s support material names titles and genres including:

For truck, bus, and casual driving games, the wheel, clutch, shifter, and broad rotation can add immersion even without motorized feedback. The V9 is a poorer match for competitive circuit simulation, drift training, or any game where detecting tire load and grip loss through the wheel is central to driving accurately.
PXN’s support list includes platform-specific exceptions, and some PC titles may require replacement configuration files or other adjustments. Do not interpret a general compatibility list as a promise that every game will offer identical wheel, pedal, shifter, and vibration behavior.
Mounting and day-to-day limitations
The V9 is designed primarily for desktop use. Clamps or suction cups may be adequate for light casual driving, but a lightweight wheel can move during aggressive steering or braking. Check your desk’s thickness and underside clearance, and expect to need a pedal stop, wall brace, or other support if the pedal unit slides.
Gen2 review coverage also notes the lack of a hard-mounting option. That limits the V9’s usefulness as the foundation of a permanent cockpit. Cable routing and secure shifter placement matter more than they do with a controller, so plan the desk layout before buying.
Reported issues and troubleshooting
Pedals or shifter are missing
- Disconnect the wheel.
- Connect the pedals and shifter directly to the wheel.
- Connect the wheel directly to the console or PC, avoiding a USB hub.
- Test the controls in Windows’ game-controller panel, if using PC.
- Select the appropriate input mode.
- Reopen the game after changing modes.
PXN recommends this connection order. If a pedal still fails calibration or does not register, contact the seller about replacement or return options.
Clutch and brake behave as one axis
On PC, switch from X-input to D-input by holding MODE for approximately three seconds. Test both pedals again and bind them separately in the game. Some titles accept only X-input, so separate pedal operation may not be available in every game.

The wheel pulls to one side
PXN’s own Gen2 review reported a problem in 270° mode where the wheel could pull hard left or right, and also reported pedals that did not always register as fully depressed. These are reported findings from that review, not proof that every unit has the same fault.
If your unit behaves this way, try 900° mode, recalibrate the wheel and pedals, use another USB port, and check firmware or app settings. If the fault appears outside the game and persists after calibration, return or replace the unit.
PXN V9 strengths
- Complete wheel, three-pedal, and shifter bundle
- Usually much cheaper than a comparable complete force-feedback setup
- Useful physical controls for truck and driving simulators
- 270° and 900° steering options
- Broad support for older consoles, PC, and Switch, subject to game-level conditions
PXN V9 weaknesses
- No true force feedback
- Vibration cannot replace steering-load information
- Input modes can affect pedal and shifter behavior
- Game compatibility may require manual mapping or configuration changes
- Desktop mounting is less secure than a hard-mounted cockpit solution
- PS5 support should be treated as unavailable for the V9 Gen2 under PXN’s current list
- Limited long-term upgrade path
Should you buy the PXN V9?
Buy it if you want the least expensive complete control package, mainly play truck, bus, farming, arcade, or casual driving games, and are willing to configure the hardware yourself.
Skip it if you want realistic sim-racing feedback, plan to learn serious circuit driving, primarily use PS5, expect automatic recognition in every game, or want a platform you can upgrade piece by piece.

PXN’s US page showed the V9 Gen2 at $179.99 with a “Notify Me When Available” option on August 18, 2026; that was a first-party list-price signal, not proof of current stock. The original V9 may appear at different prices through retailers. Compare the exact bundle against a Logitech or Thrustmaster force-feedback package, including whether a shifter is included. If a genuine force-feedback wheel is close in price, it is usually the better long-term purchase.
PXN’s own V99 is a more advanced alternative that PXN positions with dual-motor force feedback, but it costs more and still requires checking exact platform and game compatibility.
