The failure may occur during login, authorization, updating, installation, file verification, BattlEye startup, or the game launch itself. Start by recording the exact message and checking whether Battlestate is experiencing an outage; then work through the least destructive fixes below before reinstalling the game.
Identify the failure first
Write down the full error text, numeric code, and the point at which it appears:
- Login or authorization
- Launcher startup
- Game installation or update
- Integrity checking or checksum verification
- BattlEye update
- Game launch or post-launch crash
Also note whether you use the standalone Battlestate Games Launcher, Steam, Escape from Tarkov Arena, or an unofficial project such as SPT. These installations do not share exactly the same repair process.

1. Check whether Battlestate is having an outage
Before changing files, check Battlestate’s official announcements and support channels and look for current reports from other players. If many users cannot log in, authorize, or update at the same time—especially immediately after a major patch or wipe—the problem may be overloaded or unavailable services rather than your installation.

Battlestate has previously acknowledged increased traffic causing connection and authorization problems after major releases. That precedent does not prove that the service is down today, so treat it as a reason to wait and retry, not as confirmation of a current outage.
Do not repeatedly reinstall Tarkov while an apparent service problem is ongoing.
Battlestate’s official Telegram channel is one place to look for announcements. Steam’s support listing also identifies Battlestate as the game’s developer and publisher and points users toward Battlestate customer support.
2. Fully restart the launcher, Windows, and your login session
This is the safest first fix for stale authentication, “Client not authorized,” “Profile not selected,” and launcher processes stuck after an update.
- Exit Tarkov.
- Exit the launcher completely instead of only closing its window.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- End remaining Battlestate Games Launcher, Escape from Tarkov, and BattlEye processes.
- Restart Windows.
- Open the launcher, sign out if necessary, and sign in again.
- If multiple profiles or regions appear, select the intended profile.
An archived Battlestate support response recommends logging out, restarting the computer, logging back in, launching through the Battlestate launcher, and running the game as administrator for authorization or profile errors. The response is old, so current labels may differ.

3. Clear the launcher cache and preserve the logs
Clear the cache when the launcher is blank or white, repeatedly fails its version check, or began behaving differently after an update.
- Close the launcher completely.
- Use its built-in cache-clearing option if the launcher opens and provides one.
- If it will not open, inspect launcher data under paths commonly located in
%LOCALAPPDATA%Battlestate Gamesor%APPDATA%Battlestate Games. - Rename the relevant cache folder—for example, add
.old—instead of deleting it immediately. - Reopen the launcher and allow it to recreate fresh data.
- Preserve log files before performing more cleanup.
Community reports have identified locations such as C:Users<username>AppDataLocalBattlestate GamesBsgLauncherLogs, but folder names and paths can change between launcher versions. Do not delete the entire AppData or Battlestate Games directory without understanding what it contains; you may remove settings, logs, or authentication data.

4. Test administrator permissions
Administrator mode can help when Windows prevents the launcher from writing updates or the game starts only when its executable is launched manually. It will not repair corrupt files, an account restriction, or a server outage.
- Right-click the Battlestate Games Launcher shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Enable Run this program as an administrator as a test.
- Select Apply, then launch Tarkov from the launcher.
- If necessary, test the same setting on the game executable.
Avoid permanently running every related program as administrator unless required. Mixing normal and elevated launches can create inconsistent file ownership and permissions.
5. Check antivirus, firewall, and Windows Security
Security software can block launcher downloads, version checks, BattlEye components, or game authentication. Check Windows Security and any third-party antivirus for quarantined files and blocked-application history.

- Review Virus & threat protection and Firewall & network protection.
- Add narrow exceptions for the installed Battlestate launcher, Tarkov executable, and BattlEye components when appropriate.
- Check third-party antivirus quarantine and event history.
- If you temporarily disable protection for diagnosis, re-enable it immediately afterward.
Prefer a specific allow-list exception over permanently disabling antivirus or the firewall. Community reports can indicate possible interference, but they do not prove that a particular security product caused your error.

Safety warning: Download the launcher only from Battlestate’s official website. Never whitelist an unknown “fix” executable, DLL pack, cracked launcher, or file supplied through a random forum post.
6. Verify or repair the game files
Use file verification for missing or damaged files, failed installations, integrity-check errors, and crashes that began immediately after an update. It is less likely to fix a pure login or authorization failure.
Standalone Battlestate installation
- Open the Battlestate Games Launcher.
- Open the game-management or settings menu.
- Choose Integrity Check, Verify, or a similarly named repair option.
- Wait for scanning and replacement downloads to finish.
- Restart the launcher and test the game.
Exact menu wording may vary by launcher version.
Steam installation
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click Escape from Tarkov and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
The Steam support listing for Escape from Tarkov confirms the Steam product and support route. A checksum or download error can still be caused by a bad server or CDN response, so repeating verification indefinitely is not useful if the same file fails every time.

7. Repair the network path
Try this for connection failures, authorization timeouts, launcher download errors, and problems that disappear on another network.

- Restart the modem or router.
- Temporarily disable VPNs, proxies, DNS filters, and traffic-inspection software.
- Open Command Prompt as administrator.
- Run
ipconfig /flushdns. - Restart the launcher.
- If possible, test with a mobile hotspot or another trusted network.
If the hotspot works, investigate the home ISP, router, DNS service, or filtering software rather than reinstalling Tarkov. Changing DNS can help with name resolution or routing, but it cannot repair an outage or a corrupt file being served by a Battlestate CDN.

Codes such as 108003 and 109002, or messages saying that a downloaded file’s checksum does not match, do not automatically mean that your entire installation is corrupt.
- Check that you have sufficient free disk space. Temporary extraction files may require more space than the final installation.
- Confirm that the installation folder is writable.
- Check antivirus quarantine and blocked downloads.
- Remove only confirmed partial or temporary downloads.
- Try another network if possible.
- Wait and retry later when many players report the same failure.
If the identical file fails repeatedly across reinstall attempts or networks, suspect an interrupted transfer, download source, CDN problem, or security filter. Community reports have associated some repeated checksum failures with incomplete or stale files from Battlestate CDN nodes, but these reports are anecdotal and are not official incident confirmations.

Reinstall the launcher—not the whole game—first
If cache cleanup, permissions, security checks, networking, and file repair fail, reinstall the launcher before reinstalling Tarkov itself.
- Save launcher and game logs and note the current game path.
- Uninstall the Battlestate Games Launcher.
- Restart Windows.
- Download a fresh installer from Battlestate’s official website.
- Reinstall the launcher.
- Point it to the existing game directory if the current launcher supports that workflow.
- Run an integrity check.
Reinstall the full game only if the launcher cannot detect or repair the existing files. Reinstallation cannot fix an outage, account authorization problem, incompatible driver, or bad CDN response.
What specific errors usually indicate
- Authorization or profile errors, including code 201: begin with a service check, logout/restart/login sequence, and network test. An archived support response recommends administrator mode and security exceptions as additional tests.
- Codes 108003 and 109002: treat them as download or checksum-integrity failures that may be local or upstream; do not assume a full reinstall is necessary.
- BattlEye errors: check security software, permissions, network connectivity, and BattlEye files separately from ordinary launcher cache problems.
- Crash after the game starts: this may no longer be a launcher issue. Investigate graphics drivers, corrupted settings, overlays, monitoring tools, BattlEye, hardware stability, and post-update bugs.

- The same checksum fails repeatedly.
- The problem occurs on multiple networks and after a clean launcher installation.
- Your profile is missing or the account is not authorized.
- The launcher produces an unexplained code after logs and screenshots are collected.
Prepare the exact error and code, a screenshot, Windows version, installation type, displayed launcher and game versions, failure time and time zone, networks tested, VPN or security-software details, launcher and game logs, and the steps already attempted. Share purchase or account identifiers only through the official support channel. Never include passwords, authentication codes, payment details, or full private account information in public screenshots.

Keep SPT separate from the live game
If you use SPT or another unofficial single-player project, do not mix its files or troubleshooting instructions with the live Tarkov installation. The SPT manual installation instructions say the live installation should work at least to the main menu or stash before manual SPT installation and warn users to keep the original live installation intact.
Final safety check
Use only the official Battlestate launcher download. Avoid random DLL downloads, “repair” executables, cracked launchers, direct CDN links posted in forums, permanent antivirus disabling, and paid driver or PC-cleaning utilities. Windows Security, Command Prompt, Steam verification, router controls, and the official launcher provide the responsible troubleshooting path at no extra cost.
