Short answer: Raycon Gaming Earbuds are not supported for direct, native Bluetooth pairing with a PS5 under Sony’s published compatibility guidance. Their HyperSync low-latency feature does not change that limitation. You may be able to use them with an unofficial USB Bluetooth transmitter, but game audio, microphone support, chat, latency, and PS5 recognition depend on the specific adapter.
If you want dependable wireless PS5 earbuds, choose a model with a dedicated PlayStation-compatible USB receiver, such as Sony’s PULSE Explore. If you already own the Raycons, an adapter is worth testing only if you accept that the result may be audio-only or unreliable for voice chat.
Are Raycon Gaming Earbuds compatible with PS5?
Not through the PS5’s ordinary Bluetooth pairing process. Sony’s PS5 FAQ says that third-party Bluetooth wireless headsets are not supported, although USB and analog headsets generally are. That means Bluetooth support on the earbuds themselves does not guarantee compatibility with the console.
The earbuds may enter pairing mode normally, but the PS5 can reject them or fail to list them. That does not necessarily indicate a fault with the Raycons; the restriction is on the console’s supported Bluetooth-audio connections.

This conclusion reflects Sony’s published guidance available on September 20, 2026. Firmware behavior, product revisions, and regional availability can change, so check current PlayStation support documentation if Sony changes its Bluetooth policy.

What the Raycon Gaming Earbuds actually offer
Raycon markets the Gaming Earbuds as Bluetooth earbuds with gaming-focused features, including:
- HyperSync low-latency technology.
- Three sound profiles.
- Touch controls.
- An optimized gaming microphone.
- Up to 31 hours of battery life, according to Raycon.
- IPX5 water and splash resistance.
- Five fit options through the supplied gel tips.
Those specifications can make the earbuds useful with phones, tablets, PCs, and other compatible Bluetooth devices. They do not mean that the earbuds are certified for every gaming console. Raycon’s official Gaming Earbuds materials reviewed here do not document a PlayStation Link connection, a dedicated PS5 USB receiver, or a 3.5-mm wired mode.

HyperSync addresses latency, not compatibility. Latency is the delay between an action or sound being generated and reaching your ears. Compatibility determines whether the PS5 accepts the connection and routes audio through it at all.

Raycon presents HyperSync as low-latency technology, but it cannot override Sony’s Bluetooth-audio policy. A low-latency Bluetooth feature is still dependent on a device that supports the earbuds’ connection method. Independent PS5 latency measurements for this setup should not be assumed.
Can you connect them to the DualSense controller?
The DualSense has a 3.5-mm headset jack, and compatible wired earbuds or headsets can use that analog audio path. However, the Raycon Gaming Earbuds’ official materials do not list a wired cable, 3.5-mm input, or wired audio mode.
Consequently, you cannot simply plug the earbuds into the controller. Do not assume that the earbuds’ USB-C charging cable carries audio. Charging and USB audio are different functions unless the manufacturer explicitly documents USB audio support.

Possibly, but this is an unofficial workaround rather than guaranteed compatibility. A USB Bluetooth transmitter could potentially be recognized by the PS5 as a USB audio device and then pair with the Raycons. The result depends on the adapter, its firmware, the Bluetooth profiles and codecs it supports, and how the PS5 exposes the device.
Important variables include:
- Whether the PS5 recognizes the transmitter as a USB audio device.
- Whether the transmitter supports the Raycon earbuds’ Bluetooth mode.
- Whether it provides output only or also supports microphone input.
- Whether the PS5 exposes the adapter as both an input and an output device.
- Whether the delay is acceptable for games.
- Whether the transmitter’s USB connection and firmware work correctly with your PS5.
Many inexpensive Bluetooth transmitters are output-only. They may deliver game sound while providing no usable microphone path. A successful connection therefore does not prove that party chat or in-game voice chat will work.

While earbuds are in the capsule, hold the center Reset button for 5 seconds or until the capsule LED flashes yellow 3 times. Close the capsule to complete the reset function.
- EARBUDS WILL NOT CHARGE - Ensure the charging case is charged, indicated by LED on the front: should be an amber or green color. Confirm there is nothing blocking the earbuds from the connection to the case. Insert earbuds into the case, and confirm a blinking amber LED on the front of the case, which indicates that the earbuds are charging.
How to test a USB transmitter
- Choose a transmitter that explicitly states PS5 or USB-audio compatibility. This still does not guarantee microphone support.
- Connect it to a PS5 USB-A or USB-C port, using an appropriate adapter if needed.
- Put the Raycon earbuds into pairing mode and follow the transmitter’s pairing instructions.
- On the PS5, open Settings → Sound → Audio Output.
- Check whether the transmitter appears as an available output device.
- Open Settings → Sound → Microphone and check whether it appears as an input device.
- Test game audio, party chat, microphone monitoring, and synchronization in an actual game.
- If output works but the microphone does not, try the DualSense microphone or another compatible input if your intended chat setup permits it.
Menu names can vary slightly by PS5 system software version and language. Do not treat a transmitter as successful until you have tested both audio and chat.
If the transmitter does not work
- Turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones, tablets, and computers.
- Forget or remove the earbuds from previously paired devices.
- Place both earbuds in the charging case and retry pairing.
- Charge the earbuds and case, and clean the charging contacts if one earbud does not activate.
- Restart both the PS5 and the transmitter.
- Try another PS5 USB port.
- Test the earbuds with a phone to separate an earbud problem from a console or adapter limitation.
Phone pairing only proves that the earbuds work with that phone. It does not prove PS5 compatibility.
Will the Raycon microphone work on PS5?
There is no reliable general answer. Raycon advertises an optimized gaming microphone, but that claim does not establish microphone compatibility through a third-party PS5 Bluetooth transmitter.
Possible outcomes include:
- Game audio works but the microphone is unavailable.
- The transmitter is detected only as an output device.
- The microphone works with reduced quality.
- Party chat works but in-game chat does not, or the reverse.
- The PS5 continues using the DualSense microphone instead of the earbuds.
Do not buy the earbuds expecting dependable PS5 voice chat unless the exact adapter and configuration have been verified.
Raycon Gaming Earbuds versus Raycon Gaming Headphones
These are not interchangeable products. The Gaming Headphones have documented connection options that the Gaming Earbuds’ official materials do not show.

Raycon’s Gaming Headphones page documents Bluetooth, 2.4-GHz USB, and auxiliary connectivity. Do not transfer those features to the Gaming Earbuds.

No. PlayStation Link is Sony’s proprietary wireless technology for compatible PlayStation Link products. The PlayStation Link USB adapter is not a universal Bluetooth dongle for ordinary Bluetooth earbuds.
Sony describes the adapter for compatible products such as PULSE Explore and PULSE Elite. It should not be expected to pair with Raycon Gaming Earbuds simply because both products are wireless.

Sony PULSE Explore
PULSE Explore is the clearest alternative for readers who specifically want wireless earbuds designed for PS5. Sony supplies a PlayStation Link USB adapter for the PS5 connection. Sony’s U.S. store listed the earbuds at $199 during the research period, but prices and availability vary by region and date. Check the official store for the current price.
Sony PULSE Elite
PULSE Elite is an over-ear option using PlayStation Link. It is a better fit for readers who prioritize a dedicated gaming headset and dependable console chat over the smaller size of earbuds. It is less discreet and portable than the Raycons.

A compatible wired headset
A 3.5-mm headset or earbuds confirmed to work through the DualSense provide the lowest-risk setup. This avoids Bluetooth pairing and uses the controller’s supported analog audio path.
Other officially listed options
Sony’s accessories pages list additional PS5 audio products and licensed options from brands including Razer, Turtle Beach, PDP, Nacon, and Audeze. Examples include Razer Hammerhead HyperSpeed, Turtle Beach Atlas 200, PDP Airlite Pro Wireless, Nacon RIG models, Razer BlackShark models, and Audeze Maxwell.

- Existing Raycon owner: Try a suitable USB transmitter only if you accept experimental setup and possible audio-only operation.
- New PS5 buyer: Avoid choosing the Gaming Earbuds as a PS5-first purchase if plug-and-play compatibility or reliable chat matters.
- Raycon fan wanting console use: Investigate the Gaming Headphones, but confirm the current package includes the advertised transmitter and auxiliary cable.
- Competitive player: Prefer a dedicated PS5 wireless system or a wired headset; do not assume HyperSync guarantees low latency on PS5.
- Cross-platform player: Look for a headset with dedicated USB wireless plus Bluetooth or wired support.
Final verdict
Raycon Gaming Earbuds are Bluetooth earbuds with gaming-oriented features, not a plug-and-play PS5 accessory. Sony does not support ordinary third-party Bluetooth audio headsets directly on PS5, and Raycon’s official Gaming Earbuds materials do not document a PS5 USB receiver or wired fallback.
An appropriate third-party USB Bluetooth transmitter may deliver game audio, but microphone support, latency, and console recognition are adapter-dependent. For a dependable PS5 setup, choose PULSE Explore, PULSE Elite, a compatible wired headset, or another product with a documented PS5 connection. If you specifically want Raycon, the Gaming Headphones are the more plausible console option because Raycon documents USB-transmitter and auxiliary connectivity for that model.
