To download God of War (2018) on Windows, use its official Steam PC listing. Confirm that the page is titled God of War, lists Santa Monica Studio and Jetpack Interactive as developers, names PlayStation Publishing LLC as publisher, and shows a January 14, 2022 PC release date. Do not select the separate God of War Ragnarök listing.
How to download God of War for Windows
- Open the Steam client or Steam store in a web browser.
- Search for the exact title God of War, not God of War Ragnarök.
- Check the listing details: Santa Monica Studio and Jetpack Interactive are the developers, PlayStation Publishing LLC is the publisher, and the Windows release date is January 14, 2022.
- Use the listing’s purchase option, then choose Install in your Steam library.
- Select a drive with at least 70 GB of available space and allow Steam to download and install the game.
The current price and regional availability are shown on the live Steam listing and can change; they are not specified here.
Check your Windows PC before installing
Steam publishes the following specifications for the 2018 PC release. They are storefront requirements, not independent performance tests or a guarantee of a particular frame rate.

Controller, keyboard and display support
- A gamepad is optional. The PC listing supports fully customizable mouse-and-keyboard bindings.
- Supported controllers include DualShock 4, DualSense and a wide range of other gamepads.
- A wired connection is required for the full range of DualSense features.
- Compatible hardware can use NVIDIA DLSS and Reflex.
- 21:9 ultrawide displays are supported.
Make sure you are not downloading Ragnarök
God of War Ragnarök is a separate Windows release with substantially different requirements. Selecting the wrong listing can leave you short of storage or below the required graphics and DirectX level.

If Steam will not install the game
- Not enough space: free at least 70 GB for the 2018 game; Ragnarök needs 190 GB.
- Graphics incompatibility: compare your GPU with the correct listing and verify DirectX support, including feature level 11_1 for the 2018 release.
- Wrong game page: recheck the title, release date and storage figure before buying or starting the download.
- Controller features missing: connect a DualSense by cable when you need its full feature set; keyboard and mouse remain supported.
