On August 10, 2023, GeForce NOW announced 21 additions for that week and introduced the Ultimate KovaaK’s Challenge, a limited-time aim-training promotion tied to QuakeCon. According to contemporary coverage, Free and Priority members could play the challenge, receive a code for 24 hours of Ultimate access after completing it, and replay it to improve their leaderboard position. This was a 2023 offer—not a current 2026 promotion—and its reward and availability should not be assumed to remain active.
Which 21 games did GeForce NOW add?
The August 10, 2023 update included four games described at the time as day-and-date Steam releases, plus 17 other additions. The categories matter: the full list was not 21 brand-new releases.

The lineup and release categories were reported on August 10, 2023 by Android Headlines. A GeForce NOW membership streams supported games; it does not necessarily grant ownership. Access can depend on the game’s storefront, your account and region, and whether the title remains in the service catalog.
How the Ultimate KovaaK’s Challenge worked
The challenge was a dedicated demo available to stream through the GeForce NOW app. It was modeled on KovaaK’s Aim Trainer, a PC title built around FPS aiming practice. The 2023 workflow reported at the time was:

The contemporary report said Free and Priority members could participate; it did not describe the event as an Ultimate-only offer. The reward was a 24-hour code after completion, not a permanent subscription. Eligibility and redemption were part of a time-limited promotion, so the historical app path and reward are not current instructions.
Why NVIDIA connected the event to Ultimate
NVIDIA positioned the challenge around competitive play and the appeal of high-frame-rate cloud streaming. In its 2023 announcement of RTX 4080-class GeForce NOW upgrades, NVIDIA described Ultimate as supporting streams up to 240 frames per second in supported competitive modes, as well as up to 4K at 120 fps on supported PC and Mac apps and ultrawide resolutions up to 3,840 × 1,600. NVIDIA also promoted Reflex, longer sessions, and faster access to high-performance servers. These were NVIDIA’s stated capabilities, dependent on supported games, devices, displays, configurations, and service availability—not universal results for every player. A high stream frame rate is not the same thing as low total input-to-display delay. Mouse or controller response, network latency, distance to a data center, encoding and decoding, Wi-Fi stability, frame pacing, and display refresh rate can all affect the experience. The challenge was a promotional demonstration, not a controlled test proving that cloud streaming improves aim. Practice may help develop a player’s mechanics, but a 24-hour Ultimate code or a leaderboard result does not establish that outcome.
What the 21-game figure does—and does not—mean
- It was a weekly August 2023 announcement. The update was part of GeForce NOW’s weekly news cycle and coincided with QuakeCon. Contemporary coverage described more than 40 compatible games as expected during August; its suggestion that the 21-game drop might mean lighter remaining weekly updates was a forecast for that month, not a service rule.
- The titles were not all new releases. Four were identified as day-and-date Steam launches; the others were catalog additions or the challenge demo.
- The list was not a bundle of free game licenses. Check the relevant storefront and account requirements for each title.
- Availability was not guaranteed everywhere or indefinitely. Catalog access can vary by country, storefront, publisher participation, account ownership, and service status.
Is the challenge still available?
The promotion dates to August 2023. The available historical reporting does not establish that the challenge, its leaderboard, or its 24-hour reward code remains available in 2026. The demo may no longer appear in the library, redemption may have ended, and GeForce NOW’s app navigation may have changed. Do not rely on the old workflow as a way to obtain Ultimate now. Why this story is easy to confuse with a later 21-game update
NVIDIA used the “21 games” figure again for a separate April 2025 update. That later lineup is not the August 2023 story about KovaaK’s. NVIDIA’s April 3, 2025 article covered a different set of additions, including Aimlabs.
