As of August 18, 2026, Hades II has official macOS support on Macs with Apple processors. Steam lists an Apple M1 with macOS 12 or newer as the minimum, while its recommended configuration is an M1 Pro, 16GB of memory and macOS 15. You can install the Mac version directly through Steam instead of running the Windows build through Wine, Whisky, CrossOver or another compatibility layer.
Check the Steam listing before buying because prices and regional availability can change.
What Apple Silicon support means
Steam now lists macOS as a supported platform for Hades II. The purchase belongs to your Steam account, and Steam supplies the build appropriate to the computer you are using. On an eligible Mac, the normal process is to install Steam for macOS, select Install and launch the game from your Library.
This is different from forcing a Windows game through Wine, Whisky, CrossOver or Game Porting Toolkit. Those approaches may be useful for software without a Mac release, but they are not required for the officially supported Steam installation.

The official pages establish support for Apple processors; they do not state whether every executable is a fully native Apple Silicon binary, a universal binary or uses another implementation. The accurate description is therefore “supports Apple Silicon Macs” or “supports Macs with Apple processors.”

These are the specifications published by Steam and Supergiant Games. The 11GB figure is the listed space requirement, not a promise that a nearly full drive will have enough room for updates, caches, saves and macOS itself.
What “Apple processor” excludes
The minimum specifically names Apple M1. Intel processors are not listed, so Intel-Mac compatibility is not established by the current official requirements. Do not assume that an Intel Mac qualifies simply because it runs a recent version of macOS, and do not buy on the assumption that the Apple Silicon requirements apply to Intel hardware.

How to check whether your Mac qualifies
- Open the Apple menu.
- Choose About This Mac, or open System Settings > General > About on macOS versions that use the newer settings layout.
- Check the processor entry. It should identify an Apple M-series chip such as M1, M2, M3, M4 or a later generation.
- Check the macOS version and confirm it is 12 or newer.
- Check available storage and leave more than the stated 11GB where possible.
Apple has changed the location and wording of the About interface between macOS releases, but the chip and system-version entries provide the information Steam’s requirements need.

- Install or update the Steam client for macOS.
- Sign in to the Steam account that owns Hades II.
- Open the game’s Steam store page or your Library entry.
- Select Install.
- Choose a drive or library location with at least 11GB free.
- After the download completes, select Play in Steam.
On a qualifying Apple Silicon Mac, Steam should install the macOS-compatible build. The official requirements do not specify a frame-rate target, resolution, refresh-rate target, battery life or performance level for particular MacBook, Mac mini, iMac or Mac Studio models. An M1 minimum therefore should not be read as a guarantee of identical results on every M-series machine.
Release status and price
Steam records May 6, 2024 as the Early Access release date and September 25, 2025 as the full release date. In other words, the current listing describes the released game rather than an Early Access-only product.

The U.S. Steam list price was $29.99 on August 18, 2026. Regional pricing, taxes and discounts can change the amount shown to you. Steam also listed a Hades plus Hades II bundle at $67.46 (10% off) and the optional Hades II Original Soundtrack at $9.99 on that date. The soundtrack is not needed to install or play the game.

Steam does not show an Install button
- Restart and update Steam so it refreshes the product’s platform metadata.
- Confirm that the Mac has an Apple processor and runs macOS 12 or newer.
- Open the Library page again after restarting Steam rather than relying on a stale store tab.
If the option is still missing, use Supergiant’s FAQ and support guidance instead of assuming that an unofficial Windows workaround is required.

The game downloads but will not launch
- Quit Hades II and restart Steam.
- Restart macOS.
- Recheck the Apple-processor and macOS-version requirements.
- Use Steam’s installed-game tools to verify the game files.
- Check that the drive still has free space.
Supergiant says file verification can address failed starts, hitches, lag, garbled textures, invisible models and missing visual effects. Avoid changing System Integrity Protection or using unsupported launch commands; contact Supergiant through its official support route if verification does not resolve the problem.

Graphics are corrupted or effects are missing
Damaged or incomplete files can produce graphical corruption, invisible character models and absent visual effects. File verification is the documented first remedy. If it fails, restart the Mac, verify again and then seek support rather than downloading replacement files from an untrusted source.
Back up saves and settings before making changes
Supergiant identifies the Mac application-support folder as:
~/Library/Application Support/Supergiant Games/Hades II/
The settings file is:
~/Library/Application Support/Supergiant Games/Hades II/GlobalSettingsmacOS.sjson
Copy the folder somewhere safe before deleting or editing anything. Settings and save data can live under the same application-support directory, so deleting settings is not automatically the same as deleting saves, but careless removal can affect both. The official information here confirms the Steam Mac release; it does not establish cross-save behavior between Steam, consoles and other storefronts.

A good choice for an existing compatible Mac
If you already own an M1-or-newer Mac, run macOS 12 or later and have sufficient storage, the Steam version offers the simplest supported route: no Windows installation, virtual machine or translation utility is required. Buyers should still allow extra disk space and should not infer a particular frame rate from the minimum specification.
A weak reason to buy an expensive Mac by itself
The official requirements do not provide model-by-model benchmarks, sustained-performance measurements, controller compatibility tables, battery estimates or resolution targets. MacBook Air and actively cooled MacBook Pro systems can also behave differently under long workloads, but no game-specific comparison is established here. Choose a new computer for your broader work, school and gaming needs rather than for Hades II alone; similarly priced Windows gaming hardware may offer a stronger gaming-focused value.
