Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Walkthrough Guide: Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies

Black Ops 6 is three different experiences: a solo Campaign, competitive Multiplayer, and cooperative Zombies. This spoiler-aware guide explains how to start each mode, what to adjust before playing, and which progression systems matter. It is an orientation guide rather than a mission-by-mission solution, puzzle answer list, or current seasonal meta guide.

Choose the right mode for your first session

Your best starting point depends on whether you want a directed story, repeatable player-versus-player matches, or cooperative survival.

Campaign missions can also award rewards for Multiplayer and Zombies. Those rewards cannot be applied inside Campaign, so completing the story can still benefit players who mainly intend to play the other modes.

How to start the Campaign

Launch a new campaign

1. From the main menu, select Single Player to enter Campaign.
2. Read the first-mission overview and its listed rewards before deploying.
3. Choose one of the four difficulties: Recruit, Regular, Hardened, or Veteran.

Activision’s October 23, 2024 Campaign guidance says difficulty can be changed at any time. Starting on a lower setting is therefore a practical way to learn the systems without permanently locking yourself into that choice.

Prepare before each mission

• Check the backpack. Review the supplies you are carrying before leaving the Safehouse.
• Use the Equipment Wheel. Equip available tools and explosives rather than entering with items unused.
• Watch health and armor. Look for armor pieces in the environment and do not treat armor as a permanent reserve.
• Collect cash. Cash is used for Safehouse renovations, which provide campaign progression and rewards.
• Read the Evidence Board. Check it between missions for intel and mission briefings before selecting your next activity.

Use the Safehouse and Evidence Board as your preparation loop

The Safehouse is more than a staging screen. Cash collected during missions feeds renovations, while the Evidence Board gives you the available intelligence and briefing context between missions. Make both checks part of your routine instead of rushing directly from one mission launch to the next.

What this Campaign guide does not provide

The verified introductory guidance does not establish a complete mission order, puzzle solutions, exact routes, or every optional objective. For those details, use the mission content in your current game and a source that has been checked against the relevant version. This keeps the guide spoiler-aware and avoids presenting launch-era assumptions as universal solutions.

How to prepare for your first Multiplayer match

Start with a manageable Quick Play filter

The official COD 101 guide recommends beginning with Team Deathmatch, Free-for-All, and Domination in Quick Play. These playlists let you learn the basic rhythm of aiming, movement, spawning, and objective pressure before moving into more specialized modes.

Adjust settings over several matches

Do not try to find a perfect setup from a menu alone. Play a few matches, change one or two options, and test again. The introductory guide specifically points new or returning players toward:

There is no source-supported universal sensitivity, field-of-view value, or competitive configuration here. Preference, display size, input device, and comfort should determine those choices.

Practice movement and weapons before chasing results

Black Ops 6 promotes Omnimovement as a core feature. Use the Training Course and Firing Range to test movement, weapons, and settings without the pressure of a live match. This is especially useful when a control change feels unfamiliar.

Unlock and test Custom Loadouts

Custom Loadouts unlock at Player Level 4, according to the October 23, 2024 COD 101 guidance. Until then, use the available presets to learn which weapons and equipment feel natural. Once Custom Loadouts become available, change one component at a time so you know which adjustment improved or harmed your setup.

Keep launch information separate from the live game

The launch announcement listed 16 Multiplayer maps at release and described seasonal additions, including Core 6v6 and Strike maps. Those are historical launch details, not a verified current map count. For the present playlist, map rotation, and balance state, check the live in-game menus and the current official guide hub.

How to begin Zombies

Understand the basic format

Zombies is the cooperative survival mode built around Round-Based Zombies. Expect a run-based structure in which you and your team manage threats, equipment, and objectives over repeated rounds rather than following the linear mission flow of Campaign.

Know what the launch descriptions mean

The official product description said Black Ops 6 launched with two new Zombies maps and would add more maps and experiences across seasons. It also described Directed Mode and the return of Grief. These statements describe the launch product and announced features; they do not establish the current map roster or which seasonal content is active today.

Find map-specific help without assuming it is universal

The official Call of Duty guide hub includes Zombies material, including guides covering systems such as GobbleGums. Use current map-specific guidance for routes, quests, Easter eggs, and changing mechanics. A route or quest requirement from one map should not be treated as a rule for every Zombies experience.

Progression and mode choice

Choose Campaign first if you want a guided arc

Campaign gives you a structured sequence of missions and a clear solo starting point. Its Safehouse, Evidence Board, supplies, and upgrade loop provide more preparation between missions than a standard Multiplayer match.

Choose Multiplayer first if you want fast repetition

Quick Play gets you into repeatable competitive matches quickly. Start with the suggested filter, adjust controls and visibility over several games, and use the Training Course and Firing Range whenever a weapon or movement setting needs testing.

Choose Zombies first if you want teamwork and survival

Zombies is the natural entry point for players who prefer cooperative pressure and repeatable runs. Because maps, quests, and seasonal mechanics can change, verify details against the current game rather than relying on launch descriptions.
