Nintendo Switch Error Code 2110-1100: What It Means and How to Fix It

Nintendo Switch error 2110-1100 usually means the console cannot detect a saved network. Follow these checks to isolate Wi-Fi, router, ISP, or console issues.

Nintendo says error code 2110-1100 usually means the console cannot detect a network matching one of its saved internet connections. Start by bringing the console close to the router, restarting it, and selecting your Wi-Fi network again. If that fails, restart the modem and router, then test the console on a different network. The code does not, by itself, show that Nintendo’s servers are down or that the console is defective.

What does error 2110-1100 mean?

Nintendo associates 2110-1100 with an initial connection or network-detection failure. The usual message is “Unable to connect to the Internet.” In practical terms, the console may not be finding the Wi-Fi network saved in its settings, or it may be unable to establish a connection to the router or access point.

That is different from evidence that a game server is unavailable. Nintendo’s guidance for other 2110-series errors describes problems that can arise while the console initially connects to a router, sometimes before it obtains an IP address. DNS errors such as 2110-3127 and connection-loss errors such as 2110-4116 are listed separately, so do not assume every 2110 code has the same cause. See Nintendo’s broader 2110-series guidance and error-code index.

Nintendo’s current support pages cover Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED Model. Menu wording can vary slightly by system generation or region; the steps below use the US label System Settings.

Try these fixes in order

  1. Check signal and Airplane Mode. If you are using Wi-Fi, remove the console from its dock and move it within 10–15 feet (3–5 meters) of the router. Keep it away from nearby metal objects and electronics that could interfere with the signal. Confirm Airplane Mode is off, and check whether another device can browse the web on the same network. Nintendo gives the distance recommendation on its 2110-1100 support page.
  2. Restart the console fully. Hold the POWER button for at least three seconds, select Power Options, then select Restart. A quick press normally puts the console into sleep mode rather than restarting it. If it is unresponsive, hold POWER for 12 seconds to force it off, then turn it on again. These controls are described by Nintendo Australia.
  3. Select the network and enter its password again. From the HOME Menu, open System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings. Select the correct network name (SSID), re-enter the Wi-Fi password, and let the console run its connection test. This can resolve a stale saved entry or an incorrect password.
  4. Power-cycle the modem and router. Unplug both devices. If a modem has a backup battery and its lights remain on, follow the ISP or modem instructions for removing it. Wait at least 30 seconds, reconnect the modem, and wait until its lights stabilize. Then reconnect the router and wait for its lights to stabilize before trying the Switch again. This is a restart, not a factory reset: do not press a reset button that erases the router’s configuration. Nintendo’s 2110-series troubleshooting steps describe this power-cycle sequence.
  5. Try another access point. Connect to a phone hotspot or a different home network. This test helps show whether the problem follows the console or stays with the original network; interpret the results in the table below.

If the network appears but the connection still fails

A visible Wi-Fi name does not guarantee that the console can authenticate to the router or reach the internet. Check the likely causes that match what you see:

  • Password or saved profile: Re-enter the password carefully and select the intended SSID. If the router hides its network name, you may need to enter the SSID and security details manually; a hidden network will not necessarily appear in the standard list.
  • Signal, interference, or mesh equipment: Test close to the primary router rather than an extender or mesh satellite first. If the router offers separately named 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, you can test each without assuming either band is a guaranteed fix.
  • Managed or public Wi-Fi: Hotels, schools, dormitories, airports, and similar networks may require a browser sign-in or acceptance page. A phone hotspot can help distinguish such network restrictions from a console problem. Ask the network administrator whether the console is allowed.
  • Router controls or configuration: Device limits, MAC filtering, parental controls, security settings, or outdated router firmware can block a connection. Ask the router manufacturer or network administrator to review the configuration rather than changing advanced settings blindly.
  • Internet service: If other devices on the same network also cannot get online, check with the ISP about an outage or service interruption.
  • Manual DNS: If DNS is set to Manual without a specific reason, return it to Automatic. DNS is a later diagnostic check, not a fix for a missing Wi-Fi name, a wrong password, or a captive-portal login.

Use manual DNS only as a diagnostic test

Nintendo documents Google Public DNS as an alternative for broader 2110-series connection troubleshooting. Try it only after confirming that the console can see and join the network; DNS changes will not make a missing SSID appear or bypass router authentication. 1. Open System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings.
  2. Select the saved network, then choose Change Settings > DNS Settings > Manual.
  3. Select Primary DNS. Hold B to delete the existing value, enter 8.8.8.8, and select OK.
  4. Enter 8.8.4.4 as the Secondary DNS, then save the settings and test the connection.
  5. If it does not help, return to DNS Settings and select Automatic.

The menu path and values are in Nintendo’s 2110-series instructions. A DNS test is not proof that DNS caused 2110-1100.

For a wired connection, isolate the dock and cable

For Ethernet, confirm both ends of the cable are firmly connected. Try another cable and, if you use a USB LAN adapter, another USB port on the dock. Some docks have a built-in LAN port; a dock without one needs a USB LAN adapter for a wired connection. If available, try a different router port as well. Nintendo explains the adapter requirement on its error-code page.

When to contact support

  • Contact your ISP if other devices on the same connection also lack internet access.
  • Contact the router manufacturer if the Switch works on another network but not through that router, or if router settings and firmware need review. A factory reset should be a last resort: it can erase network and ISP configuration, so record the existing settings and get guidance first.
  • Ask the administrator for help on hotel, school, dormitory, workplace, or other managed Wi-Fi.
  • Contact Nintendo if the console cannot connect on several independent networks after the basic checks. A failure on one home network alone is not enough to establish a console fault.

Support contact options and wording vary by country; use Nintendo’s support site for your region. The Nintendo US 2110-1100 page and Nintendo Australia page provide the official guidance for the code.
