Redeem a supported Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 download code from any browser at Nintendo’s official redemption page. Sign in to the Nintendo Account that should own the content, verify the username, enter the 16-digit code, and choose Redeem. Nintendo requires that the account has opened Nintendo eShop on a Switch or Switch 2 at least once before online redemption is available.
Before you start
- A 16-character download code and, ideally, its receipt or order confirmation.
- The email address and password for the Nintendo Account that should receive the game, DLC, membership, or other content.
- A phone, tablet, or computer with an internet browser.
- A Nintendo Account country/region compatible with the code’s market.
- Previous access to Nintendo eShop on a Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console.
Retail cards can show both a Download Code and a Control Number. Enter the download code. The code is commonly 16 characters and may begin with a letter such as “B”; do not substitute the retailer’s control number. If a character is unclear, recheck likely look-alikes such as 0 and 8 or 5 and 2. Never post the complete code in a screenshot or support request.

Nintendo’s browser process covers Switch 2, Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch – OLED Model content. It is not a general redemption method for every Nintendo platform.
Redeem the code in a browser
- Open https://ec.nintendo.com/redeem/#/.
- Select Sign in and log in to the Nintendo Account that should own the content.
- If you were already signed in, check the username in the upper-right corner. Stop and switch accounts if it is not the intended one.
- Enter the 16-digit download code and select Next.
- Re-enter the Nintendo Account password if Nintendo asks for it.
- Select Redeem and wait for the confirmation page.

What happens after redemption?
The software or other item becomes associated with the Nintendo Account used during redemption. Nintendo sends a confirmation email to that account’s registered address. Online redemption does not itself download the game to an offline console. When the Switch or Switch 2 is connected to the internet, the title can begin downloading and may appear on the HOME Menu with a progress indicator; adequate storage is also required. Redeem directly on Switch or Switch 2
Use the console route if you want to start the download immediately, if browser redemption is not enabled for the account, or if you need to identify the local user linked to the intended Nintendo Account.

When redemption fails

Lost, damaged, or missing codes
- Receipt code: Ask the retailer with proof of purchase; some cards have no scratch-off section because the code is printed only on the receipt.
- Digital order: Check the seller’s order history and delivery email.
- Bundle insert: Keep the hardware or bundle documentation and contact Nintendo if the code was missing.
- Damaged card: Photograph the card and receipt for support, but conceal the full code publicly.

Security checks
- Use only the ec.nintendo.com redemption domain and Nintendo’s official support channels.
- Do not enter your Nintendo Account password into a third-party code checker.
- Confirm the account username before submitting the code; redemption is attached to that account and is not a normal transferable gift afterward.
- Keep the receipt until the content is visible in the correct account and never give the full code to someone claiming to provide support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I redeem a Nintendo code from my phone?
Yes. Any browser-connected phone, tablet, or computer can open Nintendo’s official redemption page, provided the Nintendo Account has previously accessed eShop on a Switch or Switch 2.
Can I redeem a code from another country?
Usually not. The code’s market and the Nintendo Account country must be compatible; an overseas purchase can produce a region error.

Why has my console not started downloading?
Browser redemption links the content to the account. The console must be online, have enough storage, and use the account that owns the content before downloading can begin.
Can I move a redeemed game to another Nintendo Account?
Nintendo Account redemption is account-specific. Verify the username before redeeming because it should not be treated as a transferable gift afterward.
