If Call of Duty: Mobile freezes on the Activision logo, “Getting Version Info,” an update screen, or the login screen, don’t reinstall it straight away. The cause may be a service problem, your connection, an outdated app or operating system, temporary files, or a device limitation. Check service status first, then try the fixes below in order and reopen the game after each one.
Identify where Call of Duty: Mobile gets stuck
The screen or behavior can point to the next useful test. It does not prove a particular cause, but it can help you avoid unnecessary steps.
| Symptom | What to check first |
|---|---|
| The app closes as soon as it opens | Restart the device, update the game and operating system, and check whether the device meets Activision’s minimum requirements. |
| The Activision logo stays on screen | Check the service status and test another network; then restart the device. |
| “Getting Version Info” does not finish | Test Wi-Fi against mobile data and check for a service or sign-in problem. |
| “Preparing to update” or a resource download does not move | Check the connection, available storage, and app-store installation; let required downloads finish on a reliable connection. |
| The game returns to the login screen | Check the connection and try signing in using the same account and sign-in method you normally use. |
| Black screen, sometimes with sound or controls | Restart the device, close overlays and background apps, and on Android clear the game’s cache. |
If the game works on mobile data but not Wi-Fi, focus on the Wi-Fi connection. If it fails on multiple networks and devices, check for a service or account issue before changing the original device.
Check for an outage before changing the game
Visit Activision’s Online Services page to check for known events and connection guidance. The page may not show Call of Duty: Mobile’s status clearly in every region or view, so an inconclusive listing is not proof that servers are working or down. Check official Activision support updates as well. Reports from other players can be a clue, but do not establish an outage by themselves.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

If an official notice confirms a service issue, wait for it to clear rather than repeatedly reinstalling the app. If there is no notice and the problem persists, continue with the connection checks.
Try the quick, reversible fixes
Force-close the game and restart your device
- Exit Call of Duty: Mobile and remove it from the recent-apps screen.
- Restart your phone or tablet.
- Open the game and see whether it passes the loading screen.
Activision recommends restarting the device for freezes, launch failures, black screens, and connection problems. This can clear a temporary app or device state without changing your account or installation. See Activision’s Call of Duty: Mobile troubleshooting guidance.
Switch networks and reduce competing traffic
- If you are on Wi-Fi, try mobile data; if you are on mobile data, try a reliable Wi-Fi network.
- On Wi-Fi, move closer to the router and restart it if you can.
- Temporarily pause large downloads, streaming, cloud backups, and other bandwidth-heavy activity.
- Try another online service to see whether the connection is working beyond the game.
Activision advises using a strong Wi-Fi connection, restarting the router for connection or download problems, and limiting bandwidth-heavy applications. Its online-services troubleshooting page also recommends checking the connection. Compare your results:
| Test result | Likely area to investigate |
|---|---|
| Wi-Fi fails, mobile data works | Router, Wi-Fi path, DNS, ISP, or a network restriction. |
| Mobile data fails, Wi-Fi works | Carrier, signal, data restriction, or cellular routing. |
| Both fail on one device | Game installation, device software or resources, or account sign-in. |
| Both fail on several devices | Service or account issue; check Activision’s status information and consider contacting support. |
| Restarting the router restores access | A temporary network-state problem may have been involved. |
A VPN is not an official, guaranteed fix. It can change routing, add latency, conflict with network policies, or make the underlying problem harder to identify. Start with network switching and router checks instead.
Update the game and your device
Update Call of Duty: Mobile
Activision recommends updating the game when it freezes, crashes, displays a black screen, or performs poorly. In the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, open the app’s account or update area, find Call of Duty: Mobile, and tap Update if that option is available. Store layouts and labels vary, so the exact menu wording may differ. If no update is offered, continue to the next step.

Update Android or iOS/iPadOS
- Android: Open Settings and look for System update, Software update, or a similarly named option. Install any available update, then restart.
- iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings → General → Software Update, install any available update, then restart.
Activision includes operating-system updates among its recommendations for launch freezes, crashes, and black screens. The available menu label on Android depends on the device.
Android fixes: clear cache and check background apps
Clear the game’s cache, not its data
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps, Apps & notifications, App Manager, or Manage apps.
- Select Call of Duty: Mobile, then open Storage.
- Tap Clear cache and relaunch the game.
Menu names vary by Android device. Activision recommends clearing the game cache for Android launch and black-screen problems; this may help if temporary files are involved. Clear cache is different from Clear data or Clear storage: clearing data can sign you out and remove local settings or downloads. The cited guidance specifically calls for clearing the cache, so start there. See Activision’s troubleshooting article and Android black-screen guidance.
Close overlays and free device resources
Close other active apps, particularly screen recorders, floating chat bubbles, game boosters, and tools that draw over other apps. Stop large background tasks and remove unnecessary files or apps if storage is nearly full. Restart and test again. Activision’s black-screen guidance recommends closing background apps and overlays and freeing RAM. There is no universal free-storage amount established in the cited guidance.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If the app-store download or update is stuck
First check the network and restart the device. For an Android installation or update problem, Activision’s FAQ also recommends clearing Google Play Store cache and data, then retrying. This applies to the Play Store, not the game: do not confuse it with clearing Call of Duty: Mobile’s data.
iPhone and iPad fixes
On iOS/iPadOS, force-close and restart the device, check for app and operating-system updates, and test another network. If the game still will not start, reinstalling is a later option; verify your account access before deleting the app. Activision’s iOS black-screen instructions include a delete-and-reinstall sequence.

Check compatibility, storage, heat, and resources
Activision’s current Call of Duty: Mobile FAQ lists these minimum requirements: Android 6.0 or newer with at least 2 GB of RAM, or iOS/iPadOS 15.0 or newer with at least 2 GB of RAM. See the official requirements and troubleshooting page. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee smooth loading or performance on every device.
A device can meet the stated minimum yet struggle if little storage is available, many apps are active, battery-saving restrictions are aggressive, or the device is hot. If the game works after cooling down but later freezes, heat-related performance throttling is one possibility, not a confirmed Call of Duty: Mobile-specific cause. Avoid assuming a particular phone model is unsupported unless Activision or the app store says so.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →After installation, the game may still need to download additional resources. The Google Play listing describes optional downloads such as HD resources, maps, weapons, and operators. Use a reliable connection, allow required downloads to finish, and make sure the device has room; Activision does not state a universal free-space threshold.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use another device or network to narrow down the cause
These comparisons help distinguish a device problem from a network, account, or service issue:
- The game works on another network: Focus on the original router, Wi-Fi path, ISP, DNS, firewall, parental controls, ad blocker, or private DNS. Changing DNS is an advanced diagnostic, not a default fix.
- The game works on another device: Focus on the original device’s operating-system updates, available resources, overlays, battery restrictions, and installation.
- The same account fails across networks or devices: Check service status and sign-in details, then contact the relevant support team if the problem continues. A login failure alone does not establish that an account has been banned; rely on an explicit enforcement notice for that conclusion.
If the issue began just after a game update, first check services and confirm the update completed, then restart, check storage, and clear the Android cache if applicable. Avoid downgrading: an older client may not work with the current service and is not an official troubleshooting step.

Reinstall only after confirming account access
Before uninstalling, make sure you know which account and sign-in method holds your progress. Activision says iOS progress and other game data are retained when you reinstall and sign in with the same account. That assurance does not establish recovery for an unlinked guest profile, so do not assume a guest account can be restored after deletion.

iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings → General → iPhone Storage or iPad Storage.
- Select Call of Duty: Mobile, then tap Delete App.
- Reinstall it from the App Store.
- Open the game, sign in with the same account, and let required downloads finish.
Android
- Confirm you can access the account linked to your game progress.
- Uninstall Call of Duty: Mobile using your device’s app settings or home screen.
- Restart the device.
- Reinstall from the official Google Play listing, then sign in with the same account and allow required downloads to complete.
Activision’s official troubleshooting FAQ describes updating, cache, connection, and reinstall steps. Avoid unofficial APKs and modified clients: they are not official fixes and can create security, account, and update risks.
Contact the right support team if the loading screen persists
Contact support if the game remains stuck after the reversible checks and a reinstall, if the same account fails across compatible devices and networks, or if you see an error code or persistent login loop. For the Activision global version, start at the Call of Duty: Mobile support hub; when you can reach the main lobby, the in-game help system is available from the question-mark icon. Players using the Garena edition should use the Garena Call of Duty: Mobile support portal, since regional editions can have different support arrangements.
Include your device make and model, operating-system and game versions if visible, country or region, whether you were on Wi-Fi or cellular data, the exact screen or message, when the issue began, whether another network or device works, and the steps you tried. Attach a screenshot or screen recording if possible. Give your Activision ID and sign-in method only through the official support process; never share your password.
