Yes. NVIDIA’s March 16, 2026 GTC keynote put AI infrastructure, accelerated computing, agentic systems and physical AI ahead of gaming. But gaming was not absent: NVIDIA included DLSS 5 and real-time rendering in the broader story. The distinction is emphasis, not abandonment of GeForce.
What GTC is—and what its focus tells you
GTC is NVIDIA’s developer and technology conference, not primarily a consumer gaming show. NVIDIA billed the March 16–19, 2026 event as a conference for AI and accelerated computing; its preview cited more than 1,000 sessions. The keynote was held at San Jose’s SAP Center on March 16 at 11:00 a.m. PT. NVIDIA’s event announcement and investor-relations listing establish the schedule and framing.
That matters because a keynote’s subject is not a referendum on every product NVIDIA makes. GTC’s audience and agenda are oriented toward developers, enterprises, AI systems and accelerated computing. For consumers looking for gaming announcements, CES, GDC and GeForce-specific events are more natural places to look. NVIDIA’s GDC 2026 show guide, for example, separately focused on game development tools and asset workflows.
What NVIDIA said the keynote would cover
Before the event, NVIDIA described a program built around accelerated computing, AI factories, open models, agentic systems, physical AI and the full AI stack. It also pointed to ecosystem partners and infrastructure buildout. That official preview set expectations for an AI-centered keynote rather than a GeForce product showcase. NVIDIA’s announcement is the clearest record of what the company intended to emphasize.

What the keynote actually emphasized
The keynote opened with tokens as building blocks of modern AI, connecting them to scientific discovery, virtual worlds and physical machines. Jensen Huang then turned to NVIDIA’s platforms, CUDA, systems and AI factories. The keynote transcript makes that structure visible: graphics and virtual worlds are part of the discussion, but the organizing subject is the AI platform.
NVIDIA’s event recap and GTC news package likewise foregrounded AI factories, the Vera Rubin platform, agentic AI, robotics and physical AI, open models, CUDA, digital twins, and work in healthcare, science and industry. Taken together, the framing, opening and announcement mix support the conclusion that AI—not gaming—was the keynote’s central narrative.

Where gaming fit
Gaming had a meaningful, but secondary, place. NVIDIA’s news package included DLSS 5, an AI-powered graphics technology for games, and the company promoted the “future of real-time rendering.” The keynote ecosystem discussion also encompassed media, entertainment and gaming. You can view NVIDIA’s keynote replay or on-demand session; PC Gamer’s coverage also records the rendering emphasis.
Those mentions do not make gaming an equal pillar of the keynote. The official description led with AI factories, models, agents and physical AI, while the company’s recap ranged across infrastructure, enterprise, robotics and science. Gaming was one application within that much larger platform story—not the presentation’s organizing theme.

Why AI and gaming are not an either-or choice
NVIDIA increasingly presents gaming graphics through AI techniques: DLSS is an example, and real-time rendering connects games with virtual worlds and simulation. That overlap makes “AI versus gaming” too simple a description. A technology can matter to gaming while the company’s keynote-level strategy is focused on building and selling compute, software, networking and infrastructure for AI workloads.
The keynote’s emphasis also does not establish that NVIDIA is abandoning GeForce, nor does it measure the importance of gaming across every part of the company. It shows what NVIDIA chose to put at the center of this particular CEO keynote. GTC’s focus should not be mistaken for a complete account of its gaming roadmap or every session at the conference.

Why NVIDIA put AI at the center
The topics fit a strategy built around full-stack systems rather than standalone GPUs: data-center infrastructure, AI factories, software platforms, large-scale inference, agentic systems, robotics and enterprise deployments. NVIDIA described AI as essential infrastructure and GTC as a showcase for the AI stack in its event announcement.
Business expectations were part of that backdrop. Axios reported that Huang projected at least $1 trillion in revenue from NVIDIA’s current Blackwell and next-generation Vera Rubin AI chips through 2027. That is Huang’s projection as reported by Axios, not a verified future result.

The verdict
“NVIDIA’s GTC keynote emphasized AI over gaming” is accurate when it refers to the keynote’s agenda, narrative and announcements. It becomes misleading if taken to mean gaming was absent, irrelevant or abandoned. GTC 2026 positioned gaming as one use of NVIDIA’s AI-powered graphics and virtual-world technologies, while its main strategic story was AI infrastructure.
